Are you guys trolling me or what? And? tell us more about how you didn't understand a pretty easy to grasp (but good) game and story.
Yeah I'm fucking with you. I died and had to restart that whole 50 minute tutorial lmao.

trolling what? you think we are going to agree Automata is a bad game?

People cope and seethe and dilate when you post this greentext but I've never seen them refute itThere are even great games that are pretentious, Red Dead 2's story gets to the point the "Sad Cowboy" shit is completely played out, I half expected them to bring a shrink in and all talk about their problems and feelings before shooting each other, its the most leftist lensed take on the Wild West I've ever seen.
Kiwishart demographiclest we fall into "everything serious" fits the bill, then you are a faggot, nigger brained, surface level critic
Fallout games are not really all that pretensions, the fanbase thought oh hell yheaFallout
Is a PR lecture/seminar pretentious? Definitely is preachy at the very least…anyway, on to actual pretentious games, stuff like Dragon Age Veilguard fits the bill, it thinks its telling you this important story, but its fucking retarded, it think its showing you great gameplay, but it fucking sucks.
Fallout
Final Fantasy
GTA
RDR
To give some credit to UT, there’s at least alternate paths so that choosing the evil one really is a choice, whereas with Spec Ops your only other option is to not play (and hopefully refund the game!).That's pretty much why i despise Undertale and Spec Ops: The Line, i fucking hate games whose main selling point is berating the player.
I don’t really remember from playing it since I wasn’t paying much attention to the story, do you need to read outside of the game to understand what’s going on like nuWOW or is it largely unneeded like old Halo. If it’s like the latter where you can basically toss it all and it doesn’t matter (similar to all the Star Wars extended content that Disney trashed) then I don’t think it should really count against the game itself imho.I think the oh so deep lore that sucks ass and does nothing but making the game worse is overwritten and pretentious, yes.
I'm don't consider the whole game pretentious, just that one specific aspect of it.
Condescending and pretentious tend to go hand in hand, especially when the moral is something incredibly simple that never applies to the real world, or the developer has a superiority complex. Also pretentious is more of a scale, some of the elements in the bingo are okay on their own, it's only when they accumulate that it becomes a chore to play.I think some of these features aren't innately bad, but are often implemented badly buuuut your bingo chart got me thinking though... I think there's actually two things you're bundling in here which have significant overlap:
Pretentiousness and Condescension (preachiness if you will)
Pretentious design is lazy but acts likes its deep. For example, the interracial couple in Bioshock Infinite. The J.E.W. of Ghost Story Games, Ken Levine wanted to give the player the "experience" of having to decide between doing a whole heckin' racism for self-preservation or throwing the baseball at the meanie bad racist. Jokes on you Ken! I would've ENJOYED throwing it at the race mixers and their ugly orc children if they had any. Point is, if it wasn't even going to fucking matter, then make it a cutscene. This was just lazy and gay. Although I forgive COD's "Press F to pay respects" because that was so bad it was unintentionally hilarious.
Gone Home was also pretentious, maybe not by developer intent, but definitely by the game reviewers. Its just a walking sim where, without any actual puzzles, you gather le clues to solve le mystery: your sister ran away because she's a lesbian and your dad's getting cucked. On top of that, the game is set in fucking Oregon.. is there any place in the world more lesbian frendly than Oregon?
Condescending games are ones where the developers are very obviously conveying to you that their opinions are correct and there's no absolutely no tolerance for other perspectives. They're utterly sanctimonius in their moral message and they don't really give you anything to engage with. You are rewarded for doing what the developer likes and you are punished if you don't. This is terrible for games with choices because in reality:
1. Doing the right thing is often difficult and takes courage, usully its easier to just not take any kind of stand
2. Their opinons aren't nearly brave as they think. In fact they're not brave at all. It takes way more balls to point out that your coworker is a man in a dress than to respect its pronouns.
The fanbase is one of the worst, I would know, however the game itself isn't.FFXIV and its fanbase definitely are though

its because they know what they're doing is wrong but dont understand why people dont think that they're cool for doing it. nearly all of this moral relativism shit is just people purposefully doing things they know is wrong because they know they can get away with itVer archivo adjunto 8825204>OI! I MAY BE A MURDEROUS GANGSTER AND GREAT WAR VETERAN, BUT DID YOU JUST INSULT A MINORITY?
They so desperately want the badass antihero to reflect their own gay morals. This needs to stop. Antiheroes aren't moralfags, they do bad shit, that's what defines them.
They are people who came up with "villain, not an asshole", because every single story is gay larp bullshit and you can go-kart/have sex with your nemesis, and actual evil™ is istaphobes.Antiheroes aren't moralfags, they do bad shit, that's what defines them
is that what that meme is about?Ver archivo adjunto 8825204>OI! I MAY BE A MURDEROUS GANGSTER AND GREAT WAR VETERAN, BUT DID YOU JUST INSULT A MINORITY?

Yes. That's the thing with a lot of British media and BBC especially. They wanna make a badass British gangster but they can't abide by anything that doesn't celebrate modern progressive views. Its impossible for them to admit that maybe grandad had some off-color things to say about their colonial subjects.is that what that meme is about?
I wonder who started the trend, the options I can think of are:Ver archivo adjunto 8825204>OI! I MAY BE A MURDEROUS GANGSTER AND GREAT WAR VETERAN, BUT DID YOU JUST INSULT A MINORITY?
