Even if Yorch Torch Games is an idiot, but according to that soyboy leftist (and also Alyssa Mercante simp & Airbagged dickrider) Michael (TheMG3D), if you like Sheva Alomar from Resident Evil 5, you're a racist incel. Even if you like her alternative costumes, he'll still think you're a racist incel.

Sexy chicks sell games. Ugly chicks don't. Capcom can't get dei money any more so they resort to just making good games.

The real character assassination in Village was Chris's team not getting brutally or comically slaughtered around him for character development.

The whole fucking plothook to Village just didn't make any sense to me at all. Chris and his goons bust into his house in the middle of the fucking night, riddle his wife with bullets, Chris himself comes in and for good measure puts a couple more in her fucking dome while she's on the floor, Ethan understandably freaks the fuck out and Chris just goes... "Sorry bro" and "Ethan, no!", and makes no fucking effort whatsoever to explain himself, why he's there, what he's doing, what just happened, etc.
I bet the actual plot came after the scene was first conceptualized, they wanted a shocking even in the trailer to make audiences perk up and take notice.

I really don't mind dumb storytelling in RE games.

Naturally, I would prefer if the writing was better, but it clearly always takes a backseat to the meat and potatoes of the gameplay, and the gameplay loop of exploration, resource management, puzzle solving, treasure hunting and weapon upgrading is as addictive as it always has been.

RE9 had an equally dumb, nonsensical plot. Leon is in pursuit of a bioterrorist, he escapes his clutches, he has a communication device that links him directly to Sherry, so why isn't nobody calling in backup to contain what is obviously a BOW outbreak? Why aren't cops, or the military, or the BSAA rushing to the hospital to gun down the zombies?

Also, why didn't Leon ask Sherry if Grace had made it out of the hospital? You'd think, what with him begin so obsessed with being unable to save people, he'd check the rookie FBI agent managed to make it out alive and contacted the authorities.

It's a repeat of RE4 - Leon has located the president's daughter, she's with him, but apparently the US government can't muster anything more than a Huey to come to their rescue, despite the fact the US has multiple bases in Spain, and the Spanish government themselves have both police and military forces around.

The spectacle takes precedence over the substance. Just turn your brain off when it comes to the story, the harder you think about any of it, the dumber it gets. The big white intro letters when Leon gets to Racoon City in RE9 were awesome, I have to admit that.

He had zero clearance to do that mission and was told to fuck off, no one was coming except Sherry called for Chris's team.

Good plot in a resident evil is like a good story in a pornographic film: it's nice if it's there but it's really unnecessary at the end of the day.

Except if its a virus affecting all survivors, chris, rebecca, claire, jill, barry, ada and carlos (and billy?) have no reason to be anywhere else in the world because they're also actively dying. What are they just ignoring their necrotic hands? How are we even gonna get the serum to these people in time? What if they're getting symptoms more rapidly than Leon? Needless to say 9's story doesn't work and its' artificial time limit doesn't work well under scrutiny. Also it felt really redundant because they already did the last second cure stumbling scene in the remake of 4. It's even the same animation...

Regardless of all this, spencer's total re-write is annoying and a magic cure-all that fixes ALL VIRUSES and not specifically the one we're dealing with is really dumb for the series because it effectively kills all future entries. (Really I'd prefer they were timeless and characters didn't age while introducing new ones, but whatever people care about the stories of these things so we have to have arcs)

He's still an evil asshole even if he felt a bit bad about wasting all that human life in his goals, he was never just evil for evil's sake, he was trying to break alot of eggs to make humanity Gods, with him being the first God, of course.

He had no idea the company would steer into making BOW's, let alone destroying entire cities, and while I bet he didn't weep over the loss, it was still an egregious straying from the path of acheiving his goals, Elpis is a fuck you to the people who ruined his chances at godhood by fucking his plans up, its still within the realm of what I think someone like Spencer would do.

I'm pretty sure Jill is immune to that shit after RE5 due to being used as a guinea pig, and while I'm way less sure about Ada, considering who she's been known to work for it wouldn't surprise me if she had gotten some kind of antivirals to treat it.

I doubt there's an antivirus for it, considering Zeno is a high-ranking Connection guy and he doesn't have access to the cure.

If we're getting down to brass tacks with Village's opening, the whole 'riddle Mother Miranda [disguised as Mia] with bullets' thing doesn't really work either because Ethan's sitting right fucking there with her and could have easily caught a stray, and I presume Chris at this point doesn't know Ethan is basically a human being being kept together by mold, nor do they know any of the shit going on with Rose. Then, if you were [after that opening] led to assume Chris and his team are competent, not only does the van Ethan got shoved in get tipped over by... something, thus freeing him, but the Lords also get ahold of Rose who I assume Chris and his goons were whisking off somewhere for a bunch of nebulous science shit. I don't know, I get that RE plots don't make much sense, but it felt like with Village they came up with the concept and really had to try hard to make it even slightly fit the established canon, realized they couldn't and just went "...well fuck it, nobody cares anyway!" which I suppose is true, but it's worse than most installments about it.

I'm used to rolling my eyes a little at plot points and cutscenes in an RE game, but Village had me going: "wow you guys just really gave up here, didn't you?" CV, RE4, RE5, they're all bombastic and a bit nebulous, sure, but I expect that and they gave rationalizing it a shot, in Village I feel like they came up with the opening and the concept, really wanted it to look like Chris Redfield had done a heel turn in the intro, then they were just winging it for the rest. Even though everything that has been established ever about Chris Redfield makes it obvious he's not going to do a sudden heel turn.

Honestly, I can spitball a better plot right now that sets it up: Chris ropes in with his goons from a helicopter and shoves Mia and Rose in a fucking box because they have a tip that Mother Miranda is trying to get to them, he doesn't explain it to Ethan because 'need to know basis, sorry man, you come with us too', the whole convoy they're in gets fucking wrecked, Ethan wakes up slightly after his wife and child were already taken by whoever attacked the convoy and all of Chris's goons are dead, he's presumed dead too but ends up getting caught up in the story's events from that point forward, then at some point 3/4 of the way through the game he meets Chris who responds: "what the FUCK, you're alive?!", it explains why Chris was being hush-hush about it and why he didn't attempt to communicate with Ethan, why Chris is even there [he's trying to un-fuck the situation and assumes Ethan is dead], etc. If you want a reason for Ethan to run through the other Lords, just say Chris was focused on trying to recover Mia/Rose from Mother Miranda and thus didn't have time to deal with her peons, thus why Ethan has to do so, etc.

But I do realize that in even spitballing all of that, I've put more thought into it than Capcom did. I haven't even really put enough thought into RE9's plot [aside from the fact that Raccoon City just should not exist anymore] to unfuck it. Maybe one day when I'm bored, I guess. That's not even to say these are bad games, I have my complaints about them but overall, everything about the gameplay is pretty competently done and entertaining. It's cliché, but I guess I'd describe Village as 'good game, bad Resident Evil game'.

aside from the fact that Raccoon City just should not exist anymore
Well, the city doesn't exist as a city, unless you mean that it should have been obliterated by the nuke.

But even if Capcom didn't retcon the bomb to not have been a nuke, depending on the yield, a lot of the city would still have been standing.

What's completely bonkers is that there's still a shitload of BOWs roaming around the premises, even outside the supposed quarantine barrier, and they're just left alone?

Also, apparently, anyone can just wander into the city, get bitten by a zombie and become an infection vector that could unleash another city-wide outbreak if he manages to reach a populated area before succumbing to the virus.

Then there's the 100+ zombified BSAA soldiers just chilling around, and by the look of it they seem to have died a while ago and apparently nobody bothered checking out where they all disappeared to?

I did love revisiting the place, but it makes zero sense.

Also, one other thing that I found funny is just how expensive BOWs are.

A licker costs $14,000,000 - more than a Western main battle, and can be taken out by an untrained rookie or civilian.

A tyrant costs $120,000,000, which is insane considering the limited capabilities of it. Something like an Abrams or a Bradley could rip it to shreds with ease.

Just about the only worthwhile BOW is the Nemesis, but they don't list its price, so it must be monstrously expensive.

Begs the question why anyone would pay these insane prices for weapon platforms with this such limited capabilities.

No and neither does sherry

And the stray he should have caught? Chris telling him later they've been watching him and Miranda living together when she was disguised as Mia and then commenting on Ethan fucking her.

"You really gave it to her, Ethan! I haven't seen a pounding like that since I went up against a boulder in an active volcano. I wonder what Mia will say when she finds out."

hey guys, guess what?? I got hired by the prestigious pharmaceutical company. I start next week. I got my ID and clearance card. I edited out the clearance number so you guys wont hack it.

(it was just a pvc card made to look like that, just knick knacks that I bought at a toy convention yesterday)
Posting your secure employee ID on the racist evil kiwi farms is about the level of opsec I've come to expect from umbrella, really.

Do people think Nukes are more destructive than they are? there IS a giant fuck off crater in Racoon city from the Nuke (honestly bigger than what an actual Nuke would make) but why, oh way do people think it would knock over every building.

that isn't how they work, even the fucking Tsar Bomb wouldn't pave the whole city to the floor. NUKEMAP_screenshot.png
