Just watched Fallen Kingdom (or whatever's the name for JW2) and it's not as bad as I remembered. The action scenes are good and there is more suspense than JW1. The token kid of the franchise is supposed to be the little girl, but the two millennials reminded me more of Lex and Timmy in their characterization: dinosaur enthusiast and reluctant nerd.

Also, this movie is really meta. Replace "dinosaurs" with "franchise you enjoyed as a kid" and it's like a documentary of current day entertainment business.

Speaking of the kid,

1. I can't be the only one who thought that she was going to be a dino-human hybrid... I mean, come on.

2. I wasn't that annoyed at her until she released the dinos. "They're alive, like me." No, kid, you're not going into a murdering rampage and eat innocent civilians, they aren't like you.

I've never seen a Cassowary in the wild, but those things are pretty much living velociraptors with beaks. They have huge legs with a huge upturned claw to impale and slash perceived threats to their territory.

I mean, modern birds are just little raptors without the teeth and hand claws. Except for the big ones that are still the same size as their Cretaceous cousins. I have not forgotten when I went to the San Diego Zoo and saw the Andean Condor up close. It's nothing short of amazing that a bird that big can actually fly.
There is a bird here, don't know it's name, not even in Spanish that it's basically a small velociraptor. It's a common small bird you see at the park, and that's where I noticed. The bird was on the ground and started to run exactly like a JP velociraptor, especially the long tail up. I know the JP raptors are not how raptors really looked like, but it was freaky how much this bird just ran and look like them.

I went on a JP binge just recently and had never seen this particular movie, I was really hoping that was going to be the case also, would have been so much cooler than being a clone. Though making much less sense...

Jurassic park is one of my favorite, if not my most favorite works of literature of all time. In my opinion, it’s up there with 1984 in how amazingly it prognosticated future issues and struggles we’d face as a species. Not only that, but the fact that Crichton so effectively wove a PSA about the dangers of corporate ties in science into a thrilling, gripping novel with interesting characters is genuinely remarkable to me. It’s very much attempting to convey a very real world message, yet it never feels as though it’s being ham fisted or awkward about it. This is the reason why I despise with such a passion the sequels- yes, even the lost world book written by Crichton himself and ESPECIALLY Jurassic world. The lost world was bad, it was an unneeded addition that only served to tarnish what is still an amazing book— but Jurassic world..? Jurassic world and all it’s sequels and spin offs drag the sweaty nuts of contempt across the face of Crichton’s legacy and desecrate his name. You can like the movies as a stand alone franchise, sure. But attempting to somehow cope them into being actually connected to the works of Crichton- even the lost world for all its faults- is an insult. It’s just an excuse for Jews to cash in on the works of a departed man. Very sad, many such cases.

Also bringing INGEN back is retarded. It wasn’t a company in the common sense, it was supported by investors- mostly Japanese consortia- whom gave Hammond money without even really knowing what he was going to do with it. He in fact lied outright in many places in pitch. SPOILER The events of JP conclude with INGEN folding after being sued by the Costa Rican government, and the island getting firebombed and thoroughly dismantled

I'm like 90% she was in the original script. I remember seeing concept art for human/dinosaur hybrids that got scrapped.

Roadrunner?

I'm going to look for this myself because it seems interesting, if you happen to find it before I do, please post them!

My running theory during the film was that she was going to be able to control or communicate with the new dino through her hybrid genetic powers and Chris Pratt would take her under his wing as his raptor trainer apprentice, but alas.

We have roadrunners where I live and I just love those guys, they're so cool. They basically are a foot tall JP velociraptor (though I've tossed them crackers and they'll happily eat 'em). Harris' Hawks are also like the JP raptors since they're birds of prey that live in family groups and work together to hunt prey. They're a bit less common than roadrunners around here though.

Apparently I was mixing up two different things. I couldn't find any evidence that clone girl was going to be a hybrid, but there were hybrids in the initial script for Jurassic Park 4 that made it as far as concept art and models.

Yeah basically the "villain" dinos were going to be like half-human, half-raptor soldiers the military was planning on using or something.

Honestly those designs looked cringe as fuck and I'm glad they just went with an amygdalation of dinos + random assortment of animal traits.

Although the still couldn't help but go with the "baddies try and weaponize an animal only for it to turn on them" trope which is beyond worn out at this point.

Since we're chatting about the JP3 Spinosaurus, can we appreciate how great the animatronic looks? I know it's not scientifically correct but it looks amazing.
For 2001 it was actually very accurate

I always thought the Jurassic Park movies fell into horribly contrived schlock after the first one, but holy shit that trailer was like two minutes of - what's that thing called where you flick your lower lip and make burbling noises?

It'll probably make millions. (:_(

They should have stopped after 1. I can only imagine how much money they dumped on the lawns of the original cast to get them in this dumpster fire.
