First scene, first gripe: They wonder why the corpses are naked and no one suggests paradoxical undressing. I don't think it was paradoxical undressing, as it would be unusual for multiple people to do it at the same time, but it should be the first hypothesis and they should have discussed it.
Old hippie lady listening to Song of the Siren, getting high with a cop and talking about her sex life and her ghost boyfriend. Ugh. Cop seems to think seeing the dead is perfectly normal. It's a shame these characters are so disgusting, "Death didn't change him" is a pretty good line. Death is, objectively, the final change, at least the final change in this world. But it also freezes people in our memories, where we keep them unchanged. Rust and Marty could have done something with that line.
They found an extinct microorganism in the ice that could stop cellular decay. This is more-or-less the backstory to The Turing Test, a really good Portal-like game. Less funny than Portal, more philosophy. I recommend it. But why were they trying to sequence the DNA of this thing up above the Arctic circle? Why not put it on ice and fly it down to ... I don't know, Maryland or wherever spooky people play around in BSL-4 labs?
"You wouldn't talk to me unless this was really serious, would you?" Show, don't tell!
The dead people sculpture in the ice rink is kind of cool. I hope someone made off with the prop and uses it to decorate for Halloween. Or maybe Christmas.
"No one can stand you." SHOW, don't TELL!
They finally mention paradoxical undressing, but only after realizing the clothes don't match the bodies and were neatly folded, which rules out paradoxical undressing.
Oh gosh, they're bringing back Tuttle. I thought the spiral was just a visual memberberry. "Hey, remember spirals?" If they're trying to tie this in to S1 and the cult ... when they couldn't achieve immortality by murderraping children, they decided to try science? On the other hand, the Irishman got the tattoo because Annie had it, and there's no connection between Annie and Tuttle United as far as we know. So these might be two parallel lines of memberberries that only appear related if you've seen S1 but don't think too hard about it. And Tuttle United sounds a lot bigger than the regional church thing Tuttle had going in S1.
Are we going to get a Jodie Foster sex scene? Yup, he's got her up on the dresser like it was a pinball machine. Perfectly good bed right there, too. And when they get on the bed, it's all disconcerting Dutch angles and arguing. Everyone fucking on this show seems to dislike each other, except the kids who made the sex video which is problematic in its own way. They're taking something that should be nice and making it ugly.
Was the Irishman trying to resurrect Annie with the organism from the ice? Is that what they meant by "She's awake?" Is there a tongueless zombie wandering around the wastes?
