I know everyone (justifiably) hates Klyden the character, but I personally hope he has some kind of ongoing role, because it's hilarious to me that Chad Coleman (the man who portrayed Cutty, Coach, and Fred Fucking Johnson) is playing a bitter traditionalist housewife.
Klyden is played by fucking Cutty? Freaking makeup team.
Seth, being a diehard atheist, has always been vocally preachy about "muh Christianity bad, reeeeee." Remember, Brian Griffin is literally his fursona.
Religious or great dogmatic beliefs are integral in human beings, whether it be an actual faith or set of morals. Philosophy can make a great substitute but it's hardly the same. In some way, you'll find the need to believe in something to give meaning to this existence somewhere. These days it's rampant hedonism and consumerism, fucking hurray.

no one tell him schools and education would not exist if it weren't for churches, it'd ruin the surprise

Trailer for this week's episode: "Twice in a Lifetime"

Last episode I remember seeing was that one where they go to that planet with "social credit" that's like Current Year Clown World.

Yeah, but Brain’s been mocked and humiliated for that sort of stuff all the time too, so he can at the very least take as well as give. That Quagmire rant at Brian is still pretty good.

Absolutely one of Family Guy's best scenes, and yet that's also because it's Seth MacFarlane being well aware.

Just got caught up to the latest episode and I really appreciated how Topa's transition was played out. Klyden was being argumentative, but given the circumstances, it was rationalised: he'd been brought up for years (decades? Don't know how Moclan biology works with how fast Topa ages) in an oppressive culture that thinks females were inferior and also had to deal with his own reassignment, which wasn't likely to have been overridden by being stationed on a ship that hosts denizens from vastly different cultures for a comparatively shorter time. Given that Klyden never really seemed to fully address his formerly being female and residual self-loathing, I wasn't surprised that he didn't confide in his daughter about his past.

Yeah, that's one negative of the Orville. This show is usually nunced, but, when it comes to religion, Seth goes full on r/atheism.

I think it was a mistake to name to name the krill god "avis" just for a dumb car rental joke. Makes the krill feel like a joke.

But this season has fixed it a little at least. Last episode we saw an union memeber that was religious. The nude guy. So , atheism is not universal among the good guys at least.

And they also humanised the krill showing they are not all evil religious fundamentalists.

Última edición:
So, that social credit planet has totally been genocided by the Kaylon right? It's not a member of anything, it's out of the way of other places. Same for the planet with the star signs stuff.

the new episode is very very good.
i realy liked what they did with time travel, very personal, low stakes, brutal on an emotional level without burning a character and the ending was just perfect with the way they went back to the future.

Those and other episodes made me glad that the show doesn't have transporters, as super science teleportation solves a lot of problems rather easily.
