Yeah but their version of the Prime Directive also includes the risks of time travel. Gordon was aware of the rules, he knew that they should not interact with the locals, but then he saw the girl he fell in love in that previous episode. At first I was a bit disturbed by Ed and Kelly's reaction but then it made sense. They were tough but right. Time travel can affect not only the place but also the person who experiences it.

The prime directive is fucking gay. Also, I hate the idea of time being linear. It's even worse in Star Trek, as they also have alternate universes. I don't know if the Orville would have recognized that contradiction, or if the show just ended up being canceled before they dabbled in that trope.

i liked seasons 1 and 2 and the Identity arc was really good, also the one where bortus has his vr mocclan haram and almost crashes the ship over it. got halfway through season 3 but thought it was getting too woke and annoying, mostly because of the one lesbian crewmember they keep shoving in, don't remember her name. also cannot stand time travel in any way since it's alawys an excuse to write in whatever they want. did it get better after that?

welcome to sci-fi
instead of magic, it pretends like literal magic phenomena is possible using concepts like temporal dilation, space-time manipulation, and electromagnetism
it often ends up being even stupider than if they just said it was magic

That's my current annoyance with Babylon 5, which I put on hold until I'm in a better mood.
