Why are they still making this shit...
The bigger question is who are they making this shit for?
All the original fans hate nutrek, the zoomers don’t care and if the public view numbers for Academy are anything to go by the wider public doesn’t watch either.
I know there are a few bots fans out there that are vocal about ‘getting all the feels’ but that can’t be a financial sustainable model.
Paramount will never release the viewing figures or their financials but Nu-Trek must have been disastrous for them.

They made it for themselves and just assumed it would appeal to a wider audience that didn't exist. They were theatre kids so they made Star Trek about theatre kids. Who wouldn't like that? Theatre camp was the best time of everybody's youth, right?

They are completely baffled as to why it failed and they will never understand why. They're going to do it again in a few years but Kirk will be a black Somali woman and Picard will be gay.

I had a bad dream that they made Star Trek super woke and gay but then I found the new series on Hulu and was completely elated. It would've helped if they kept the Star Trek moniker, but it's not the first time they've dropped it so I'm not concerned.

Personally I think they could've handled the Federation becoming the Planetary Union better but all in all the last three seasons of Star Trek were really good. My guess it that the transition got left on the floor of the writers room to save space in season 1.

I even like the redesign of Klingons into an all-male species and addition if the gelatinous aliens. The new ship designs are familiar but fresh and I absolutely love the swooping lines and curves. You absolutely feel the continuity. I have high hopes for the future of the franchise if Star Trek continues on in this direction. Any word on season 4 yet?

You forgot the dragon attacking the Enterprise. Oh God they brought back the contrails for the Enterprise going into warp, please stop that shit. Who the hell cast this guy as Kirk, fuckin' hell it's not even close. It's not even a good deconstruction of Kirk's character.
Don't worry, if Goldsman and Kurtzman get the Kirk spin-off green-lit they will make him bisexual.

Equinox really makes me hate Janeway.

What an absolute cunt. Putting random interdimensional sharks over your fellow humans is absurd.
The entire premise of the show is Janeway stranded her entire crew to help out some retarded alien fix its own glaring, obvious problem that it could have fixed independently.

The TOS movies, well, most of them anyways, were about old men realizing how old they are. The TNG movies don't have core themes to them. Generations was strictly Kirk & Picard must team up and it didn't matter how it happened. First Contact was two stories smushed together. Insurrection is literally about the Fountain of Youth. Nemesis is the Shinzon movie.
Actually I think the opposite is true of the TNG movies. Generations is about Picard realizing he is old and alone. First Contact is about Picard being old and buck broken by the Borg. Insurrection is about Picard trying not to be old. And Nemesis is about a new not-old Picard trying to kill old Picard because he is old.

This is a thing with the lack of continuity in Voyager. On its own, the plot is fine, but if you've watched earlier episides, you'd know how often Janeway has broken the same rules she's pissed Ransom broke.

And really, Picard is the only one who would legitimately be mad at Ransom. Every other captain would have understood why he did it.

Wait until you see the series finale...

There was such an easy way to fix this too, I called it on the night it aired.

In the flash forward have it be that the Borg have completely conquered the Federation and Janeway's mission is to stop that and getting Voyager home is just a side effect. That way she isn't screwing with the timeline just to save a couple of people she likes and getting a bunch of other people killed just for that.

"Caretaker" is an incomprehensible disaster.

It turns out the Caretaker is fucking moron who doesn't know how to parallel park, so his shitty engines accidentally destroyed the ozone layer. He feels bad, so he decides he has to play landlord to the Ocampa people. Please, somebody have sex with him so he can have an heir who can run this thing.

He’s kidnapping ships from across space trying to find someone to knock up so he can retire. But he dies and the array explodes, and the Ocampa are fine. They’re perfectly fine!

So the whole premise of the two-parter, that they’d all die without him, is totally fake.

What about the Kazon, you ask? NOPE. They just leave! The premiere is predicated on the idea that the Kazon are these bloodthirsty marauders, but the second the Array blows up, the Kazon go, "we're bored, let's go."

It would’ve been better if they just made the Array some crazy, rogue AI that went berserk. You could still have the Caretaker be a hologram, like a Clippy that went insane and started kidnapping starships.

And now onto the episode where the monument implants memories of a massacre into everyone that comes within a few light-years of it. And they leave it up instead of destroying the damn thing. All this talk about free will and human rights and autonomy and they leave the thing up that invades your kind and gives you PTSD over something you didn't do. The entire affected crew goes nuts and melts down over it but hey, you better not forget the holocaust, goyim.

Are they now? Didn't they establish they're underground and have supplies for only 5 years? Wouldn't that imply they gonna die horribly in their underground bunkers?

I contend that the Voyager finale is an ugly clusterfuck of bad writing around time travel and other bullshit centered around Janeway being more right than the rest of the universe, even Janeway
as such it is a perfect finale to Voyager
I am so glad Star Trek ended in 2004 and there isn't some POS modern series I have to watch.
I recently decided to start wearing that dank 1701 Command pin because fuck modern society
the thing that put me over the edge was considering that I might be endorsing Modern Simpsons with my Duffman hat and to a lesser extent my KWIK-E-MART name tag (although there's a little bit of rubbing it in that Apu existed there)

The only way you can enjoy it is if you turn your brain off completely and just accept it the same way you accept Monday Night RAW. The way Ransom meets Seven and immediately goes “I’m gonna reprogram her to assimilate my balls”.

They should’ve just made it a bunch of random crazy redshirts, skip the “marooned Starfleet captain tries to start a harem”, there's like four villains in the franchise with that origin. Ransom’s probably the dumbest one.

Plus you’ve got those painfully bad scenes of Janeway reciting the Prime Directive again...

1000153205.png

It's funny because now I have two examples of characters who should’ve been written out, The show would be like 40% better. COMPUTER, DELETE NEELIX! COMPUTER, DELETE CHAKOTAY!
