‘Powerpuff Girls’ Live-Action Series - Officially Dead

It is still probably worse than you think.

To Recap what I have heard.

Professor Utonium is a Black Man
Who steals Chemical X from a White Man ( Mojo)
Creates the "perfect little girls with the thing he stole"
Proceeds to be the most awful father ever, pushing his children into a life of Violence.
Makes their life of violence into a tv show for Profit..while erasing the Asian and Black Girl's skin color making them all white.
Then One of his Children Murders Mojo.

This is a special brand of absolute fuckness.
They missed the chance of making the Professor a whitey that stole chem X from a Wakandan scientist, tsk tsk.
So MOJO is even a monkey in this?

Also why was a black man white washing real people? Talk about Mix messages
Forgive these people, father, for they have sinned.

Oh how they have sinned.

This reminds me of what was quickly learned about the weirdo who CN put in charge of Thundercats Roar. The dude simply didn't like it, he absolutely despised it, and not because of the actual show content of the original, but evidently out of literally nothing but an ongoing petty sibling rivalry because his brother hogged the television all the time wanting to watch Thundercats.

And then the infamous Teen Titans Go/Roar crossover happened. I have to believe somebody got fired over how absolutely disrespectful and offensive that was.

The fact it took this long is worrying, though. This shit stank from the moment it was announced Donald Glover was playing Utonium who could have been the subject of Weird Al's White and Nerdy song, the outcry from the internet could not be denied...and only NOW this shit is being delayed for rewrites?

I can only figure this means the pilot episode was complete and shown to executives. And this is the CW, these people fucking greenlit Batwoman.

We are looking at something that could define generations as the worst thing on television in the modern era, as the rewrite simply means they aren't going to do something sane like cancel this bullshit immediately, but they're trying to salvage something that was never functional to begin with. This is The Boys but with the PPG after reading those leaks, as seen by people who don't understand why The Boys is a popular show.

Between this and the hillarious outcry when woke liberals discovered the changes made to that Winx thing on Netflix or whatever, the woke crowd is going to witness their own logic and beliefs turned against them in an attempt to appeal to this vocal minority.

This is fucking karma and we get to watch their world burn to the goddamn ground as they see their own childhood memories be desecrated as equally as they desecrated franchises that came before their time. But isn't that what they're all about, equality?

Funny how suddenly that's a real problem.
And the best part is, we get to laugh at it the entire time.
How optimistic that you guys think they won't publicly claim it to be the greatest thing ever just to spite you.

Thank God it missed.
I can't believe they basically did this but with more sexual promiscuity. It was supposed to be a joke CW. :stress:

Damn Grown up Bubbles can GET IT, unf.

They can claim whatever they want publicly.

But Everyone knows this is bad, and in the end of the day I am the one laughing while people have to look in the mirror after saying "The 2021 Powderpuff girls is a great reboot that empowers the girls into strong women."

All this drama could have been avoided if people would just stop doing cynical deconstruction and reboots. Cobra Kai shows you can do continuations right. The trick is you need to 1) love the original work and 2) treat the legacy characters with respect. You can even have new characters with diversity become main characters just as long as you don't fuck with the original crew too much.

Remmber progressives hate that show because it makes fun of them

It won't be better but it'll be less awful because they already know they messed up so they'll sulkily try to be less abysmal.

There's going to be an undercurrent of seething resentment in every scene that needs to be rewritten/performed that might compensate though.
*laughs in batwoman*

What might happen is she will get an editor before being allowed to arrange for any expensive reshoots. The editor will probably have a pen and just silently delete entire sections of it. I'm curious, anyone know if they have to commit to a minimum run time/episode number when deals are made? Because if there's not enough material for even the minimum run under a more discerning eye that might get it dropped outright.
from what I remember, studio orders a certain amount after the pilot, which then gets produced. however they can still back out, just look at all the hard flops that got shorted orders afterwards where they didn't even show the last episodes because it was more ad money to do a rerun with something else.

anyway, this is the CW, expect 3 seasons minimum.

That's what I thought they were going to do, but when you think about it, they can't make Joseph "MoJo" Mondel black because they'd be calling him a fucking monkey! They really did write themselves into a corner here, but they didn't have to. Just don't make the Professor a shit head.
How optimistic that you guys think they won't publicly claim it to be the greatest thing ever just to spite you.
They can say what they like. Most people are still going to call it trash in some way, and I know I'll still be laughing regardless.

Also, anyone remember when they did the grown up Power puff girls, and the joke was that it'd be lame? Remember? Its funny to think about that nowadays.

All this drama could have been avoided if people would just stop doing cynical deconstruction and reboots.
Why does the deconstruction even have to be cynical? Why can't it just be an honest deconstruction that says "Hey, creating kids and making them fight crime is kinda messed up." while still having fun and showing that the professor isn't satan and the girls ARE having fun with it. You can say fun doesn't cover up for anything because, if you give a kid a gun and he likes killing, that's still a child fighting for your behalf. But it would still be a really good watch. And you could make it a comedy.

Instead its "They're all whores! The professor is an evil, evil black man!" and all sorts of nonsense.

Well for starters, the cartoon itself was a deconstruction of typical action/superhero cartoons. So they’re trying to deconstruct a deconstruction.

Because the people writing this shit don't seem to understand that entertainment is, at its core, escapism.

Instead, they keep trying to reintroduce real world issues and shit and it constantly fails because NOBODY ACTUALLY CARES.

There were also plenty of dark episodes and lots of moments of the girls essentially being assholes.
And deaths of their "sisters" and the Rowdy Ruff Boys (until they got revived)
I assume CW will cobble their own cartoon or use clips of the latest version to "prove their point uwu"

Honestly if they just use clips from just the 2016 reboot, then it would honestly be fine. But even then it's still stupid

Somebody must be playing a joke and REALLY tried their hardest to be "woke" and edgy for the lulz. This cannot be real.
It’s basically bad fanfiction. And I’m only half joking about that; there’s basically a whole genre of fanfic with this kind of premise.
If you wanted to know who the audience is for, it’s basically the edgy AO3/FF.net crowd.

No, that's intentional and by design.

When you go and watch an episode of a show or a movie, you're doing it to immerse yourself that isn't the reality you exist in now. Your politics don't matter. What's going on outside what you're doing, likewise, does not matter. The one thing that would take you out of it more than anything else would be a glaring block text in the corner reminding you that what you're watching is not real.

If the politics of the works' creator(s) are so important (and to the progtards, they absolutely are), why the fuck would they ever give you a way to escape them in their version of escapism? Why would they allow you an opportunity to unwind, to detach and distance yourself from it? Why wouldn't they want every single bit of entertainment, no matter how mundane, to be twisted towards their position, so that there's never a respite from the propaganda?

This is why every work of fiction they create is angled like this, and the only ones they can't possibly angle like this (such as PNP RPGs) they instead erect giant neon warning signs around it going: "This thing is bad, don't be this thing" over and over in a fashion so blatant that @Randall Fragg has a long and storied history of openly making fun of it.

No, the world of pretend cannot be tolerated to be a refuge from the real world and, more importantly, their narratives. So they tighten the screws, do everything shy of saying you're not allowed to enjoy any form of entertainment that is not theirs (and a few of them go so far as to try to argue that), and try to push their crap in every single angle they can, blissfully unaware that all they are doing is further ensuring no one buys into their worldview.

Damn, you called it. But I bet you didn't expect bubbles to be a slut, or Buttercup to be...

Ok, maybe you did too. This is the CW after all.
Not quite, but I did call them accusing the Professor of using them as tools and the show implying he’s right and that there’d be one of the girls want to fuck Mojo’s son.

God, I am going to be so pissed off at the scene where the girls shout at the professor how he “didn’t treat us like your daughters, you treated us like tools! That’s all you wanted in the end” and the show is going to blatantly suggest that’s the truth at which point I’m going to hurl my tv through a fucking window.

Cant wait to see which PPG ends up fucking him....fucking Christ.
But like you said, it’s The CW.

Why is Blossom the one with mental issues when Bubbles is the one that was best friends with HIM? HIM is obviously a reference to the devul and probably also Chtulu considering how he first showed up, talking through her stuffed toy octopus.

These guys even get their terrible idea wrong.
