The problem with undertale and Deltarune is obviously the fanbase and the gay shit, but the caveat is that it had really good music for someone who did the whole game by themselves.

Even if he's a lefty, fag (probably, almost for sure) Furry, its still impressive to put out games by yourself and have any ballpark of value to it, sure the Cavestory dev is infinitely better, but on a very technical level its commendable.

still, GAAAYYY.

Maybe I'm just uncultured but what the fuck is so impressive about Deltarune and UNDERTALE?
DELTARUNE I have no idea but Undertale stands out because it's so unapologetically weird and anime and is basically the actual spiritual successor to Earthbound. It's fun, it's stupid, it's cheezy, and even clever in some parts. It's also has two fairly distinct routes that feel very different based on how you interact with it and felt better in that regard to much larger games (like being Evil in KOTOR or Fallout).

It's a video game that feels like it was made to be fun and the fact that mainly a single person did it was even more impressive.

I unironically enjoy Undertale/Deltarune but the fanbase is one of the worst ever. They're worse than the Kingdom Hearts fanbase was in the early 2000s.

very much true, I thought the first game was really clever and the true ending was pretty hype, despite all the gay shit, and the "evil" path having the coolest fights (because its a meta stab at wanting hyper violent RPGs and gives in only to give you the fuck you after) was neat, especially Sans, who pointedly breaks the combat system and even tell you he's doing so in a very mocking way, and only loses to your godly murder hobo self because he's lazy.

I like the fact that the entire point of the genocide route is that it's deliberately mocking you for wanting to "undo" the happiness the characters gained from the pacifist route. The problem is that a lot of pseudointellectual gamers assume that meta = good. Self-awareness of a medium is fine but when that becomes the entire punchline is where I lose interest. Deltarune seems to be doing the same thing with the whole "your choices are meaningless" subtext, but as all 8 chapters are not yet fully released, I cannot condemn the narrative just yet. I've only played chapters 1 and 2 so far, and so far I'm enjoying what I've experienced.

The fanbase wouldn't be too bad if it weren't for those fucking people that obsess about Papyrus and Sans. Fuck those people.
The ones who can't shut up about the lesbian dinosaur fucking the fish lady are even worse, and a great example of why LGBTETC+ representation is a really bad idea.

Then again even if you don't have it those fans just make everyone gay anyway...

Undertale was perfectly designed to appeal to children.

It looks like an RPG with bullet hell elements, but it doesn't demand any skill. It's a glorified walking simulator that makes you feel like you're playing something. It's enough to trick impressionable children into thinking it's something iconic.

The character designs are anthropomorphic and all of them have exaggerated speech patterns. It's like a cartoon version of Twin Peaks and I'm sorry to insult David Lynch like that. Another point that appeals to children.

Undertale also came out in the right time to herald the landfill genre of Earthbound-inspired wacky whedonesque indie games. Hello Neighbor, Bendy, Cuphead, etc.

None of this would be a bad thing per se, but there is a darker angle to all of this. Undyne and Alphys are unambiguous lesbians. Mettaton is a flamboyant femboy, or femboy-adjacent. Straight relationships don't exist in the game, other than some shopkeeper or whatever I can't remember the name of. Toriel is implied to cheat on Asgore with Sans. Overall, I don't like the intent of the game. It reeks of DEI, in a much more malicious subtle form.

It's exacerbated by the fandom's tendencies. The Undertale fandom is notoriously depraved. The game's anthropomorphic characters played against it. Undertale was the gateway into furry porn for many teenagers. There is an Undertale AU based exclusively on piss fetish (Omotale). In a way, it set the bar for many indie fandoms after and not in a good way.

I don't know much about Deltarune, it seems to be more of the same, with the caveat that most Deltarune fans are unapologetic tranny gooners (thanks, 2020).

A majority of the games announced were third party games that I could have an infinitely better time with on PC and there were no heavy-hitters for their exclusive catalog - looks like I'm skipping the Switch 2 for yet another year
Is it safe to say Xbox has won Not E3 2026?

At this point the only thing that would make me buy a Switch 2 is if Nintendo bought the rights for Bloodborne from Sony and made a sequel exclusive to the Switch 2.

As Vyse mentioned earlier in the thread, Spyro 4 alone won it for Xbox.

With Spyro 4 alone, Xbox is the clear winner.

Does the guy who called Duskbloods get a cookie for an indeterminate playtest date?
I'm just that good. I guarantee it'll be a shit show between Fromsoft's net code and Nintendo Online services being terrible.
HOLY FUCKING SHIT JAPANESE DIRECT HAD MOTHERFUCKING TOUHOU 6 REMASTER!!!!!
Who's working on that? I know it's not ZUN. Maybe what's left of TASFORO?

VANILLAWARE ON STEAM

I REPEAT VANILLAWARE ON STEAM
The only announcement I really care about due to the possibility of getting their other games on PC with official ports. I've emulated Dragon's Crown and strung together some jank "couch coop" via an input streaming app, but it'd be nice to have something a little less finnicky.
