That's exactly why i said that JP has turned into Birdemic, people behind this franchise love to portray mankind as stupid, incapable and completely unable to defend themselves from a few dinos. And i can feel it, they will also a pull "Planet of the Apes" type of thing, there will be a new trilogy in few years taking place after the JW trilogy, where a few dozen dinosaurs (half of them herbivores, mind you) somehow have managed to wipe out humanity.

I kinda wanted they to go with the whole Dinosaurs Human hybrid stuff from some old scrapped script for Jurassic Park 3 or 4 instead of this mess. Going full Extreme Dinosaurs. Oh well.

At that point you might as well start over and make a new franchise or he'll as you said reboot extreme dinosaurs power rangers 2016 style (not that that reboot was very good but still.) I've heard there's been attempts to reboot Dino riders for years as far back as Michael bay's transformers era but the closest we got to that was some mini figures put out a few years ago.

Planet of the Apes worked because the original movies (Ignoring the censored 4th movie ending and the shitty 5th movie) were extremely clear that apes were just as capable of savagery and hypocrisy as humans. They weren't one-sided in bashing humans and were cynical to all sentient life effectively. It was pessimistic as all hell but still more nuanced than purely "Humans bad dinos dindu." New movie looks like a factory product. I see no reason to watch or pirate it.

The only Jurassic Park film I have seen more than once is the original.

The rest are just soulless and forgettable spectacle. My "favorite" of the sequels was Jurassic World, which was dumb as all get out, but kind of worked in a "I would have liked this if I was 7" kind of way.

Lost World? Dumb with a couple of cool moments to keep me from completely hating it. III? Boring and pointless. Fallen Kingdom? Absolutely fucking stupid.

I do not care about this next one, even with the full reunion of the original film's trio, but hey.

Even as cash grabs, the original movies are ok. I rewatched them today and they were enjoyable enough.

I agree that the franchise does like to portray humans as stupid because stupidity was a big factor in both sequels while the main problem in the first one was chaos and improbability. Everything in the park failed because Hammond never expected that Nedry would turn off the park just when they were parked next to the Rex's paddock and would never come back. And then, there was a storm happening, no one could have predicted that. No one expected either that the dinos would switch sex.

In Lost World, you have one man who decides to pee like 20m away from the camp into the forest while other wears his headphones and never hears him asking for help. Imagine being this careless knowing that you're surrounded by dinosaurs.

I think they meant to portray humans as arrogant, rather than stupid, but arrogance is the creation of the dinosaurs, this is plain idiocy.

I actually liked Jurassic Park 3. I can't rewatch the first one anymore after reading the book and I expect that will be even more the case if I read Lost World. At least the third one has no original source material to make a disappointment from.

except Michael Crichton didn't create this series to be "fast and furious." He created it as a deep dive into the question of "how far should science go?" The sad part is a lot of stuff in the later films, especially human cloning. I can see that being something he'd write about. I'm not gonna pretend the man was some wise know it all philosopher, but he didn't just "believe the science." He questioned it.

tbh I'm not really sure how deep Crichton used his knowledge to be sincerely concerned or how much was "these concerns make for a good story"
like Andromeda Strain always struck me that it seemed to be informed along the lines of "maaaaaybe I heard a thing or two from somebodies, but here's a good setting for a tense story" more than "I sincerely feel it is quintessentially important that this never happens"

true, One must remember the man was a writer and an entertainer first a philosopher second...and not much of one at that. Still he was a at least a talented writer that could tell a story that wasn't just mindless fluff to entertain the masses for a few hours. I got more our of his "Red Queen Theory" in the lost world book than I did anything Vince Vauhan had to say in the movie.

His books certainly are good speculative science fiction. I'm referring to how modern Hollywood has bastardized his original work into this strange sharknado type dinosaur series.

Woke AF. They introduce two new characters, a black guy and and a black girl. The girl basically says she's a lesbian. Has nothing to do with the plot or anything. Plus either Her or the black guy save everyone else multiple times.

I like JP3 too. It has a very believable set up that really fits the theme of human arrogance rather than stupidity: after the world becomes aware of Jurassic Park and the dinos, it's not at all surprising that some people are venturing to the islands to see the dinos in the same way people try to climb the Everest. It's arrogance what makes them see the island as a theme park rather than a place where there are dangerous creatures. Same when Billy steals the eggs.

I also like the Kirbys.
