The argument that each of these zombies creates jobs would be criticized in the dirt by the exact people advocating for them were it about literally any other subject. The only reason the shambling corpses of each of these shows are still paraded about is a combination of corporate cowardice towards unestablished IPs forcing the industry into a zero sum game where new talent is granted zero opportunity, and the fact any new talent is more likely to produce glorified fan fiction than any realized work. Once again, the complacency of an American industry resulted in East Asians eating their lunch for the last two decades, and it’s taking the sabotage of entire societies in order to simply even that playing field.

Depends on the franchise. The Simpsons is basically irrelevant in modern times and isn't really subversive at all anymore. Family Guy and shows like it are more farcical and can go on as long as they can write scripts for the thing.

I don't think people even watch The Simpsons, Family Guy/American Dad (they're the same show let's be real here), or South Park anymore outside of media review channels who just make endless whining "retrospectives" about how much the show sucks now and how they suffer for choosing to continue to watch it.

Let's consider these questions
1. Lets say Family Guy and the Simpsons are both gone, what takes their time slots? Probably not any new shows. But, two time slots are going to open regardless. Good time to get some new talent in.
2. If shows get automatically culled after a certain amount of seasons, this means you've got more people coming in with fresh pitches. This is why we get Rick and Morty and Smiling Friends, there's so much shit coming and going on AS that they could get two mega-gangbuster cartoons in the span of a decade, two more than Fox has had.
3. come to think of it i really don't get what that guy is saying. isn't it worse for cartoons to go on forever if we're talking about people "not being able to find jobs?" you're pulling in potentially more new people into the workplace with new toons than you would having a maintenance crew keeping the simpsons on life support.

Now anyone can revitalize quality old 2D Disney animation at their fingertips and direct it however which way they wish. Yes there's still some oddities and general AI artifacts you'd come to expect by now, but compared to how it was a few years ago, it just goes to show AI could care less about what artists feel. Progress is inevitable, and they'll all end up like John Henry while the train keeps on chugging along to greater endeavors.

I tell you, if someone starts with AI and just cleans it up by hand to remove some of the worst problems, they could make a show and put it to air and hardly anyone would be able to tell.

The creator of Undergrads has been working on a movie by himself and he's been experimenting with training Ai to help him along the way. Basically he's using 3D models and feeds the ai with his own 2D art to create a toon shader in the show's style. It's a really interesting watch. (The last update was from a year ago, so hopefully it's not dead)
