Anyone take caesin? I am working on figuring out a digestive health issue and just got casein powder to rule it out. Have you had any negative or different effects compared to whey aside from, allegedly, slower gains? Do any of you use it as a meal replacement?
Hello! I take Whey Protien straight after a training session and then take Caesin at night right before I sleep.

Have never had any negative/different effects, though there are reports that it does interrupt some peoples sleeping. The slow release has helped me not wake up starving and wanting to devour my entire kitchen.

Thanks. Do you think casein is more effective at appetite suppression than whey because of the long release? The whey I currently have(Optimum Nutrition) makes me want to vomit after taking it.

Does anyone have an opinion of Orgain?

Unfortunately cannot give you a sciency answer, just my own experience, personally I think the slow release does help me with appetite suppression for longer, but can be different for everyone.

As for the brand of the protien itself, what about it, in particular makes you want to vomit? Is it the flavour?

All my protiens are ordered from Bulk Nutrients, they seem pretty clean ingredients wise (not too much bs fillers) and really cost effective, they mix very well and taste great.

I don't know what. It sitting in my stomach makes my body feel like vomiting it up. I'm not sure why. The flavor is just fine. I'm not currently willing to spend $50 on another whey to make sure it's just that brand. The orgain doesn't make me feel that way but that isn't whey.

Thanks.

So I did 100kg for 20 earlier tonight, it was playing on my mind since you mentioned it. My strategy was to take a 150kg single, then go back down so it felt light.

Did it, but that single set was easily the most disgusting set I've ever done- worse than the pig squat I mentioned previously. Last few reps required some immense mental fortitude, god damn.

I'm not sure whether to thank you or tell you to get fucked lol
If you make them a regular part of your training, you'll not regret it. You can alternate it between squat types too (back, front, SSB, etc.).

It will never be comfortable. It will never be easy. It will always be worthwhile. You will see.

How many scoops are you consuming at once and are you sure it's not the liquid being used with it? I remember I used to use two scoops unflavored whey and water and I had to choke it down feeling like I wanted to vomit. I know it's not the flavor but maybe reducing how much if you use 2 or more scoops, or potentially even reducing the amount of liquid since if you use a lot of liquid your stomach can feel sick

Casein could help a little with appetite suppression compared to Whey, but the benefit is pretty minimal, Casein also tastes worse than Whey IMO. You're probably better off just getting protein from something like chicken breast, eggs, beef jerky, etc, it's solid food so it'll actually stick around in your stomach more, much more than any type of protein powder.

if you really want casein, eat cottage cheese, and if you don't like the taste dump a bit of fruit jam in there. Would add up to more than a typical shake at like 300-350 calories for like a tablespoon or two of jam and 250g of cottage cheese, but you're getting nearly 30g of some wonderful slow digesting protein.

Agree with this. You're better off eating more solid food during your meals than supplementing it with powders. I'm totally not against protein powders but liquid calories just aren't my favorite.

Cottage cheese is best with sriracha and some pickles in it dood

It’s ok. I use the probiotic superfoods more often, most recently I mixed it into blueberry lavender almond milk. Deee-lish.

Issue is I have a mysterious digestive issue so I try to restrict what I eat to determine what is causing it.

Inspired by hearing Ed Sheeran on the speakers today at the gym. Who the fuck chose this? My gym has a crowd sourced playlist, please tell me it was someone's idea of a sick prank.

Worst song you've heard while working out?

Unironically, Perfect by Ed Sheeran. I don't know who chose the playlist at my gym, but it was playing a while back. Then again, they usually just play pop, though once ive herd Rave by DXRK playing

Is there a good podcast or video on the liver king to listen to? Kinda want something new to listen to while working out.
Closest thing to a semi long video is This hour long one by MPMD although it's more sciencey and exposey so maybe not ideal to lift to .
There's a bunch of podcasts with liverking though but they mostly involve a lot of the stereotypical grifty guys who seem to be somewhat sucking his dick

Its roughly twice the price of the whey next to it at costco in terms of price per protein gram. People who have a whey intolerance get it but I didn't know until last week casein protein powder was a thing.

Got a question for you guys, Why did you start lifting?

For me it was because I had to pass a physical fitness test (I was really unfit at the time) by the army and while I was ultimately rejected on medical grounds, there was a sense of pride and accomplishment at seeing the weights and reps go up
I was into it as a young kid, mostly just long distance running and pushups tbh, then forgot about it for a few years and got a bit fat so I started lifting and got bit by the bug. Now I just do it because I really like bodybuilding and fitness and it also makes me feel good.
