In general discussions about "hard" role playing boss is pretty ridiculous. Demi Fiend and Satan are only "hard" because they have a unique mechanic that you need to either figure out yourself or read about online, and in almost all games you can just power level through every boss.

If I needed to design a truly hard RPG boss will need to be something that is more akin to a puzzle than an encounter that hardcaps your level and skills and switches them randomly so that even if you had a guide you'd still need to actually pay attention and react rather than follow a preset

I have a (very bad) feeling that P6 is going to just be a JJK ripoff with a woke subplot since the protag seems like he might be mixed-race(or they're just gonna give him a Yuji haircut once he invokes his 'sona since one of the leakers said "there's a reason he looks like a blank slate") - the female deuteragonist even looks like Megumi
Do we even know what does the P6 protag even look like? This sounds like genuinely bad news.

the inspiration design-wise seems to be JJK, Ghost Hunter shows, and Clockwork Orange. either way, with the absolute state of anime that touch on the same themes(DanDaDan and JJK specifically) I don't have high hopes at all.
JJK is just powerscaling shonen slop but what's wrong with DanDaDan?

Okumura was actually like that and I was shocked that people had so much trouble with him in Vanilla P5 because he was relatively easy for me on first try and then they severely toned him down and his dungeon in Royal. The reason why Atlus will never do anything difficult beyond damage sponges now is because their solution is to just do a bunch of RNG bullshit.

The problem with random switching of skills is that it then becomes possible to hit a failure state through literally no fault of your own, which is the exact problem with Demi-Fiend.

For example, imagine you were at low HP and it randomly decided to not give you any healing skills.

what's wrong with DanDaDan?
fucking everything from the fact it's full of minor-sexualization to cuckolding to not having a consistent world or plot. it's genuinely undertale-tier worldbuilding and has basically every degenerate thing that japs love inserting into their media front-and-center. i can usually tolerate some of that shit in the weebshit media i consume but dandadan is just full of all of it.

and i know persona is has lolishit too, but it wasn't really a thing the games forced upon you until P5 and was treated as side-content in P3, and was basically absent in P4 unless you're a freak that sexualizes nanako.
that sort of shit is basically absent from SMT games too with the exception of some demons.
(i do not consider demons like Alice or Mermaid to be egregious lolishit btw)

Do you mean Madarame?

Because Okumura is the other way around where people don't have trouble with him in Vanilla but had lots of trouble with him in Royal where he's a gigantic skillcheck that can hardwall you even if you're overleveled

Who are your go-to demons/persona in game? I always try to get a Jack Frost and Matador if possible.

/v/ spam-posting evil Chie in a bikini and I don't even know if it's AI, photoshop or real. I know I won't ever finish P4R if I do buy it, but I also 'collect' the SMT-likes for some god awful reason. I remember P3R not going on sale for like a year so I should just preorder P4R at some point.

Oh, and get back into Soul Hackers 2. It's a great lite take on an otherwise stressful/demanding game. I made it far in SMT3 but man, it was torture. I had to strap down for it every time. I also need to beat SMT5 but I hate the fucking 15 fps menus and other such Switch-friendly quirks.

Which is why Persona fucking blows. Remove all weaknesses and means of outsmarting a boss: Tank and spank. I remember reaching the end of P4 and turning on auto-revive every turn and STILL it took ~30 mins to kill the last boss.

People have been reeing over Okumura for a decade and him and his palace were toned down in Royal, he's still a skillcheck especially with the extra Haru servant but they definitely did tone him down from vanilla.

No way that Okumura himself is toned down in Royal. From what I saw in Vanilla he just haphazardly sends a bunch of robots on you but in Royal he buffs them a lot, sends them in a much more coherent fashion, the robots target the same guy and if you don't kill them in 2 turns he resets with no warning. Its the definition of a skillcheck that hardwalls cretins with under 70 IQ. Also those Reddit posts were from 4-5 years ago so I assume that these are on the Royal version (barely anyone plays vanilla once Royal came out).

Madarame is actually toned down in Royal though because Vanilla Madarame is actually harder than the final boss (from what I've heard). The Royal version can be cheesed without you taking damage if you know how to abuse the new Baton Pass.

If true, well, wait until the next generation of Japanese mangaka are inspired by it!

In Vanilla the multicolored robot mobs where you have to either hit them with the element of the same color as their uniforms (or the opposite) is segmented into multiple waves that dwindle down each round until you get to Okumura in Royal they included a time limit so you must defeat a wave before they explode and then the wave starts again plus you also get one last robot with no weaknesses and finally a Haru bot but you don't fight her again if she explodes. The entire fight basically exists for you to baton pass to fuck out of every wave which is amped up in Royal thanks to Baton Chain and Specials so its only as hard due to the time limit per wave but because you can skill check it its basically making it a cake walk. The Vanilla version is way more damage spongey and longer but the Royal version is more annoying going in blind.

A lot of people complained back in 2017 before Royal remember P5 was the "JRPGs for people who hated JRPGs" so it definitely filtered a lot of people back then even with its lowball difficulty similar to Shadow Yukiko in P4G.

I remember Shadow Yukiko being harder in vanilla. Bet she will be a complete joke in the remake.

speaking of fake fans larping as fans.

The time limit and the Execurobo is always there, it's just difficult to trigger it on vanilla. I think you mean the turn limit where he resets the entire wave if you don't kill all 4 in 2 turns.

I love Leanan sithe shes my best persona lol.

Is it just me or did they get rid of shading from Margaret's portrait? And there is something off about Dojima......maybe the eyes?

“To try to figure out why this happened to begin with?”
The main culprit is 2020 .. anything else is cope or none issue
That fucking year is when I noticed this type of “gamers” showed up in massive numbers thanks to streamers. I had the displeasure of knowing people who claimed playing a game fully by watching a streamer with a straight face.

Basically this:
76B99C4B-3084-4A49-A425-F0E54FD89F90-4713-00000AA38DC3B754.jpeg

Full disclosure: I did start playing Megaten games in that year, but unlike them I actually started playing a game for real it was Tokyo Mirage Sessions of all things then I carried out playing the rest since.
