in the reformed world, apophatic theology isn't a thing in the same way lapsarianism isnt a thing in eo. and theological study is the key stone of reformed christianity; john calvin was a lawyer after all. one could say its a feature of the west in general. protestants are keen scriptureproofers.
It's just a Western cultural thing, dating back well before Calvin. We like logic, rules, study and understanding God in a rational sense.

Even the Catholic form of our shared sacrament of Confession is very legalistic.

Orthodoxy only doesn’t have child abuse scandals because the Slavs dont see it as an issue worth reporting.
No, we don't have child abuse scandals because we actually report people when they have sexually assaulting children. I'm sorry, Muhammad. We, an Orthodox Church, believe children are sacred and that they should be protected from hauling.

A very short amount of research shows that isn’t true. Oh, and Muslims are also kid diddlers, the weak Mohammad rebuttal doesn’t work. Almost like all Abrahamic religions are predisposed to defend monstrous acts

Join the better version of Catholicism you don't have to constantly make excuses why your church is filled with degenerate weirdos pedophiles
Lmfao, who's gonna tell him?
people subverting the United States of America
NOT MUH HECCIN AMERIMUTTIA!!!!!
because Orthodoxy is based on the idea that every nation is different and that is fine
It wasn't always like that, there is a reason why Constantinople still has its patriarchate despite being conquered by Muslims, Orthodox was sorta founded there.

Why do so many westerners convert to ortholarpy? It's not based or even traditional, lmfao, just as subverted and marxist as Catholicism. Stupid Orientals and Orientalists.

Hey! I wanted to knock before coming in. Latin Catholic here. Don't know if y'all can help or not. Can anyone point me to some excellent resources on St. Gregory Palamas, or an intro to hesychasm in general? I'm not of a strong Western Scholastic temperament, and have always had an appreciation far more for the mystic life. I have been taking theosis much more seriously as I've gotten older in both years and faith.

If there's a good primer out there, I'd like to prayerfully read more. Thanks for helping a Latin sister out. :)

Here's a video of a priest explaining Hesychasm

Bookwise, Way of A Pilgrim is a classic.
For St. Gregory Palamas, there is the Triads. (Couldn't find a pdf, so here's the internet archive link: https://archive.org/details/triads0000greg)

Hope this helps!

the third photo is not an orthodox jew, it's a religious nationalist jew, of a very radical sect (the bigger the kippa is, the more extreme his beliefs are, especially if it has these circles)

likewise the fourth photo is hassidic rather than mainstream orthodox

haredi clothing tells a lot about who wears it if u know what to look after

Well, the Philokalia has things actually written by Gregory, and they are the texts of the Hesychasts.

As for a general primer I can't point to anything, due to ignorance. Though, since you're a Catholic woman, maybe Catherine Douherty and her Poustina? (The Desert). She was Catholic, originally from Russia, and made it her mission to communicate some of the Orthodox monastic traditions to the West.

Here's a sample of the book:

Thanks y’all - I always understood that the Philokalia shouldn’t be read unless you’re under proper spiritual direction, due to risk of theological misunderstandings or prelest - so I wanted to know if it was at least OK to peruse it.

I’m familiar with Poustina but it’s time for a serious revisit. Thanks again frens. 🙏

Another good book is. St Agnesius on the Incarnation of the Wisdom. Christ, actually a Catholic friend of mine, recommended that back in like 2020.
So. Everyone have a blessed Christmas.
