Once again probably not true because different studios and what not but I know that the animation community is still butthurt because flashy anime fights hour starring the turtles failed really hard.

Was it really flashy anime fights, tho? Admittedly, I've watched maybe 5 minutes in total of the show because it seemed to consist of about 30 seconds of coherent 'story' followed by "SQUIRREL!" moments to change tracks, like the audience is terminally ADHD. ...which, knowing kids these days, may very well be the case. I remember turning it off in disgust and never looking back. 80s show, 90s movies, and '03 show are all that exist as far as I'm concerned. The rest is all shit, and this is going to be shit, too.

Seeing how trailers nowadays usually showing the best bits and this is what they put in it i think this film will bomb like a motherfucker. Seth Rogan involved in any capacity makes any movie insta-pass anyway. Do kids today even know who the Turtles are? I can't imagine the IP has a big draw anymore.

Someone said it about Mirage, finally! The turtles being 'one note and interchangable' is only in the first issue because Eastman and Laird didn't expect anything else, and they immediately began giving them personalities right away. If Mikey's solo issue is heartwarming then Don's is the definition of bittersweet. But this idea they're edgelord territory's always been... weird. Edgy compared to 1987, I suppose.

I do truly adore Mirage turtles though. I'm a guy who grew up with them and still thinks they're some of the most fun and pure comic book-y comics around. Eastman and Laird were throwing everything at the wall to see what stuck, yeah - but they did it with such energy everything's enjoyable, and it all still manages to fit because the very concept is ludicrous enough anything looks like it works with the title characters. I will say I see everything after Volume 1's official end with City at War's conclusion as nu-Mirage though, since Jim Lawson helmed Volume 2 and he and Laird created a somewhat different beast with Volume 4. Still fun comics, but it's not the same without Eastman and Laird working together.
 
Legit, Raph using his sais to slice watermelons on camera is pretty funny. I live for that shit (when done right).

Too bad Seth Rogan's name is attached to this, and that April is fucking ugly. They didn't even bother giving her red hair in the slightest.

Oh yeah, how come Mikey has braces? I take it Donatello is both their doctor and orthodontist, but still, why does he have braces and the others don't have signs they had them before? It's a dumb detail to focus on, but it's just weird to me that he specifically has them.

Good question, at this rate I wonder if they'll confuse them with these Turtles. :story:

So, been noodling this around in my head: the trailer shows Bebop clearly, and I presume Rocksteady will be in there as well. This means it most likely will not be some ‘slice of life’ or ‘extended training montage’ type film about their lives and relationships as a family of freaks taking their first steps to interact with humanity.

Instead, we’ve got boys of age 12ish…who are going to be pitted against grown-ass men out to murder them.

Is…is anyone else weirded out by this, or is it just me?

Robin’s been fighting gangsters with Batman since 1940. Boys in boys’ media taking down baddies face to face is nothing new.

There was even a panel where April went from straight to perm, and asked the turtles how she looked. Razorfist (someone already posted it and Rippa of all people actually did detailed videos covering this.


This is just another episode of hollow representation due to creative bankruptcy. They’ll just say “we had an April that was black” and then move on.
 
April is black if you have dyslexia and read "ginger" as "nigger". Hollywood is doing it on purpose at this point. If anyone notices they're called racist. If it's racist to notice then get me my hood.
