There will be another within a few years. You can find lists of the biggest UFC/Strikeforce/Pride upsets in history and there are usually no more than two or three years between them. And sometimes you get a cluster of upsets happening in close succession. We've had a bunch of fighters losing their streaks or zeroes and a few big title upsets this year already. Been pretty exciting.
More so meant the fact that this was in front of the white house. However this is still an incredible upset, seems to be we are in that cluster of major upsets recently

That body shot flurry Topuria threw in round 2 was the finishing move, the man put everything in those shots, and Justin managed to keep the lights on, even if barely.

A bunch of people said that Ilia fumbled when he went to grapple after those shots when Justin was hurt, but I think that was Ilia going for a body lock or choke atempt to see if he could get some gas back, because he was dead after that, he didn't have the power to finish Gaethje.

And that is the thing, Justin is a power puncher and this is the first time Ilia got to see what being hit in the lightweights is really like. Charles also hits hard, but his fight with Topuria ended was too fast. After a couple of stiff jabs from Gaethje, Topuria looked surprised, and this is not good.

Also, I think Justin cracked Topuria's ribs with a knee on R4, that is why the call was made.

But all the credit goes to Gaethje, how he survived those bodyshots is beyond me, he should've have folded right then and there.

It was indeed a Cinderella night for the man, stuff that can only happen in combat sports.
Interestingly am thinking of Topuria's fight with Emmett where he went after him in round 3 after hurting him twice the round before, and then spent the whole of round 4 (except near the end when he countered him and tried finishing him) taking the round off. Jabbing, low kicking, not doing much. So I think he is a burst fighter who needs a round off to recover, and I think people tend to give him that round because he hits hard or beats the shit out of them.

But Gaethje is wired differently and surprisingly durable at times and other times less so. Unless you tap him out he will basically always get finished rather than lose a decision.

Ilia was never good btw.
Volk fought cab drivers his entire career, got knocked out by a bum, yet went life and death with the GOAT of the sport at a massive size disadvantage.

Then again, you abandoned Khamzat and called him a bum after one loss after glazing him for the prior year, now stan a cheater who lost to a Francis Ngannou with no knees and put himself in a gilly against Jones in 90 seconds. I should know better than expecting insight from you.

Nah. Khamzat only has grappling and every one knows it. His stand up is hilariously bad and he has absolutely nothing if he can't take his opponent down. Which I expect to happen more frequently, since he seems to be washed with his cardio getting worse and worse.
Ilia the cuck is a completely tomato can who only had a granite chin and ko power. Didn't expect him to be exposed this fast though. I actually expected Tyjani Beztati to be the one that shows up out of nowhere and destroys Ilia the can in the most shocking way possible, looks like it's unneeded now since everyone should acknowledge Ilia is a can.

Baka was loving Gane almost paralyzing Pereira for life. Herb Dean is niggest fucking goy, I swear.

I made fun of Pereddit being reddit but I'd still favor him over everyone outside Gane, Jones, Ngannou and maybe Volkov.
Ilia though, is an overachiever along with Jiri and Tony, who'd never ever made it to the top 5 had they have the chin of Johnny Walker.

I just stopped by to say last night was the most disgraceful performance I've ever seen from a referee at a fighting event.

That retarded nigger overruled the doctor trying to stop the fight and that mexican got his face turned into fucking hamburger

This is the year of the upsets. This sport is so unpredictable lmao. Like, who the fuck was picking Gaethje? Anyways, I am actually picking Ian Garry to beat Islam now. Watching film and trying to see each fighter's strengths and weaknesses isn't worth shit anymore so fuck it, I will just bet on the established high level fighters getting upset now. I can't wait to see Sean or Umar beat Yan next
I did. I was the only one at my watch party. And I quote: "everyone's crowning this kid prematurely. Did they seriously say Topuria already had his celebration dinner? Gaethje's the one with all the motivation. It's his home country, in front of the White House."

Suffice to say, I was pleasantly smug from about the 2nd round on.

It feels like Hokit became the most well known fighter over night just by calling Michelle Obama a man. His socials are being flooded by angry lefties LMAO.
The best part is, it's not even the first time he's done that after winning a fight. It's just that a million casuals were watching this card cause it was so high profile. Anyways Hokit is the fucking man, and I love watching Hokit haters have to cope and seethe about his win.

Credit to Khabib. His resume has just become waaaaaaaaay better now. If Conor beats Holloway next, I think it's fair to say he's still one of the GOATs. I do, however, think Islam has a better resume
I'll never consider Khabib as one of the GOATs. He retired way too early. Everyone loses in the fight game as it's only a matter of time before someone figures them out or they get struck by some bad luck.

Khabib was gifted the decision against Tibau and pulled out of a lot of fights. He was given a pass at the weighin versus Gaethje. Shenanigans I say!

Islam has a much better career than Khabib.

That entire event was like a fever dream. To be fair the actual card was very obviously planned out for a bunch of somewhat recognizable cans to get crushed but it was still the best that the UFC has produced in a while.

The main event was nuts because Ilia kept biting on Justin pretending to go for a single leg and got his skull pulverized. It should have been called off at the end of the 3rd round because i don't think he knew what the fuck was going on at that stage.

That was a life changing ass-whooping.

This post fight video has a lot going on.

Ilia being helped out of the cage by his brother and corner members, Ilia hiding his face with the flag and his brother removing it, the music blasting in a celebratory manner during probably his lowest moment in the sport, it all too much.
