After action report for 250:
Diego Lopes vs. Steve Garcia was a gimmie. Garcia didn't have the power or the tactics to crack Lopes.
Bo Nickal and Kyle Daukus, same same. They needed at least one American to get a guaranteed W.
Ruffy v. Chandler, they're milking Muscle Milk Mike for as much as they can get out of him before they consign him to commentary. Ruffy is still a fucking gatekeeper in my eyes until he beats someone who matters. Run it back against BSD, something.
Hokit vs. Lewis. Hokit is a nutcase and I love it. The thing that separates guys like Hokit, Strickland, and Uncle Chael vs. Colby Covington is that the former believe at least half of what they are saying and will say it with their whole chest, where Colby was clearly working a gimmick to keep his job. Hokit is following the fine tradition of a Hispanic-American beating up black people to get what he wants (look at his last three plus him going 10-8 against Michael Obama in the post-fight).
Sean O'Malley vs. Aiemann Zahabi was another goddamn lay-up, but I liked it. O'Malley is a goofy dude, but he snipes, and now I'm curious if he can actually hang with healthy, leveled up Petr Yan.
Poatan vs. Gane...I don't want to talk about it. A cheating French mutt holding two belts at the White House. Very disrespectful. Let's move on.
Topuria made a crucial mistake: He took Justin Gaethje lightly. Even Khabib was wary of letting Justin hit him too much. Charles got Justin on the mat. Max kept Justin at a safe range until it was time to finish. And Dustin just didn't give a fuck, he would bite the mouthpiece and let God decide the winner. Justin was healthy, he followed the gameplan, and his experience showed through. To his credit, Ilia was ready to go out in that 5th round and leave that cage on his shield, busted face, broken rib, he might be a cringe midget, but he was ready to bleed and die for just a chance keep that title. Fortunately for him, his corner and his brother were willing to protect him from his own pride and threw in the towel. Topuria committed a few unforced errors in that fight, going for subs once he tenderized Justin's body and fighting off of his back foot being the big two. I think he didn't respect Justin's hands until he felt them at which point it was too late.
At this point, if the UFC wants Justin beat and gone, their best chance is Arman. If they are counting coins like the (((Brazilians))) they are, they're going to cross their fingers for Conor to beat Max, and then set up "The man who beat the man who beat the man" but that leaves too much to chance. If Conor wins, they're going to fast-track him a title shot. If Max wins, there's a logjam between him and Charles.
Overall, 8-9/10 card. Lots of finishes.
