I mean he's a late 30s/early 40s man living with, what, five other guys because Linus won't pay him what he's worth to do all the Floatplane stuff? While Linus is living it up in a McMansion, the company's burning down, and I'm sure his biological clock is ringing, too. He really needs to ditch Linus and go his own way, or at least threaten to do so if his salary isn't increased to a level that makes sense relative to his responsibilities, before the LTT/LMG/Floatplane brand becomes a KFC-tier radioactive resume stain.

If I were to guess the decreased views were merely the fallout from YouTube vs. adblockers. It's as simple as that.
YouTube tried to implement measures that hindered adblockers, and adblockers implemented measured to counter it.
The cause of this was decreased viewership for many channels centred around gaming and technology. People who view these channels are a little more tech-savvy than most, such as people who watch make up artists and fashion shows. I happen to watch both and only these gaming/tech channels have seen a sharp decline.
It will all come to equilibrium in a couple of months again. These people are crying about literally nothing.

You'd think a channel that has scripts and scripted jokes and tons of reference material could easily cook up an "AI Linus" to spice up these stupid videos, if random weirdos can make AI voice clones of metokur or null or anyone else, why not just have a linus voice do the videos. have Linus do a couple seconds of waving at the camera at the front and end and fuck off, same way cartoons of celebrities would have wrap around live action segments while a sound alike did all the real work.
from what everyone else i've seen has said this does feel like the answer, and would explain why channels that are both big and old are getting worse views than smaller creators. its like rock music in the 90s, you go from ungrateful stadium touring rich assholes (represented here by linus or RLM or other 10m+ sub channels with rude out of touch millionaire ecelebs who stopped putting in effort a decade ago) and they're collectively getting routed by smaller indie bands who can't just be called "rock" or "heavy metal" but "Brechtian punk cabaretCore" who are naturally closer and more grateful to their small loyal fanbase (represented here by sub 1M channels and especially sub100k channels, mostly relying on patreons/nebula and clearly being a youtuber's side gig)
it also makes sense when you consider how much TikTok thrived by just having a better algo and giving people tons of options for creators to watch no matter how niche your tastes are and youtube gaining a reputation for more bland content and favoring big channels like corporate ones over creators. it would make sense too for them to use the same algo for youtube shorts and regular youtube.
i assumed they had school specific accounts or chromebooks just had an androidOS style and no log in needed

Municipal schools probably aren't allowed to require the parents buy any electronics whatsoever (education is a right, so the government isn't allowed to discriminate against poor families by requiring them to spend money). If the school requires the children use a laptop I'm sure they'd be happy to have them bring in their own (big savings), but they would be required to provide one free of charge otherwise.
In all likelihood Linus' children attend a public school (Americans call these private schools), so they can impose whichever rules they feel like. That's also how religious schools work, it would be grossly illegal for the government to require students attend religious services, but a public school has no such restrictions.

Tech oligarchs specifically pay huge sums of money to keep cellphones, laptops, and computers in general away from their kids, even going so far as to send them to this one Waldorf school that happens to be only a 20 minute drive from both Google and Apple's headquarters where personal electronic devices are hard verbotten and everything in the classroom is still done pen-and-paper or on typewriters. They know what they're doing to our youth.

Not that I doubt what you're saying, but I'd like to read the sources on this.
They've also got more than 1 campus in the area.
It's entirely a campus that looks like it fell out of the late 90s or early 2000s, has a $100 application feee, and $34,000/year tuition for grades 1-5, $37,000/year for grades 6-8, $40,000/year for grade 9, and $46,000/year for grades 10-12. The prices for international students is event higher. This is around $10,000 a year more expensive than other private schools in the area. Their affordability program exists so they can claim they have it, but they can freely reject students and will do so based on the income of the parents to just avoid having to bother beyond maybe a couple of token students.
Also. Private funding = private school. Public tax funding = public school.

Yea you have to be a pretty big fuck up because it's not even that serious, I've been pulled in multiple times just because they find it suspicious for a young guy to cross the border for a few hours by himself (picking shit up). They say "we're going to search your car" you so "ok" and sit in a chair for 20 minutes. Same scenario for literally anyone I've know who's ever been stopped (although they once tore apart my uncle's entire truck and just left the seats on the ground and told him to put it all back by himself lmao). It's obviously super annoying and a huge waste of time (and if you're unlucky you can get it both ways) but unless you're a complete retard or an actual criminal who cares.
To actually run a full on investigation like that you have to have been having a full on autist meltdown, sweating and stuttering and being a real Melvin. He then proceeded to do literally everything you possibly could wrong. Sounds like they should have used some "enhanced questioning" to get to the bottom of it
