This is pretty much the main reason. People were salivating online during the original Madison / Gamer's Nexus drama saying how they were either going to lose everything immediately, or conversely that it wasn't going to matter at all and the proof that the channel didn't lose everything immediately vindicated them.-people don't take LTT seriously

Let me guess, " Its doing great and totally isn't a money sink!" Their faces tell the true story.
Is labs using fake names? I thought that said "Street Shitter" for a second there.

Why obfuscate the names? What are they hiding?

"Could I really be that out of touch? ... No it's the children who are wrong."https://youtube.com/watch?v=DzvhAMHF_dYStop rubbing your frankly undeserved riches in the audience's face, stop having dysgenic looking people on camera, and stop trying to be hip and clever with the writing because gaymos like Riley want to use it for his audition tape sizzle reel. When it was just dudes doing tech stuff it was way more palatable, hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.......
Interested in what this is, sounds hilarious!-the LTT brand is damaged (apparently the other content creators who built a PC last week were having their viewers roast them for working with LTT)
I really wonder how many Youtube memberships LTT (or any channel for that matter) actually sell. Paywalled videos are incredibly intrusive and it seems like common sense it would be off-putting to see videos you can't view mixed in with normal videos, so I continue to be baffled that's how YouTube chooses to serve them and that any channel uses them.maybe they'll end memberships because all the members only stuff on the videos tab is taking up view real estate
I remember back in the day, when Linus first onboarded Riley, they announced his joining the team through a bit where Linus found him digging through LTT's dumpster for scraps of food. Nowadays, I wonder whether or not that was actually entirely a bit...No one likes Riley
I haven't watched the WAN but I want to walk through these in more detail, mostly because I'm bored and don't want to sleep yet.Luke believes it's just the new algorithm but you can see Linus realize work through all the phases.
Not to go off topic but I hold the opinion this feature is completely bogus for most demographics, and I also hold the view that Mr Beast is the entire reason this feature exists, and I would not be surprised if he was involved with product teams at YouTube in helping design this feature. The only demographic this A/B thumbnail testing works on is primarily children (Im not attacking A/B testing in general, just specifically for this use case). As far as I can tell the entire purpose of the functionality is to mislead children into rewatching videos they have already watched. They market it as "oh it helps the creator decide which thumbnail is more appealing" but again, they completely neglect to include actual use cases for this beyond "well you can do 1 with big mouth open and 1 with even bigger mouth open!!", which again, these types of thumbnails are primarily attached to videos that children and younger demographics watch. The A/B thumbnail/copy testing is turning people off leading to no follow through viewing
I don't know a great deal about wider trends, but I do know that if I don't watch a video right away, and notice the thumbnail change or the title change, it tends to disincline me towards watching it at all. But with more contemplation, I think its more that if I've ignored a video on my feed long enough for it to repeatedly display and then even A/B change on me, I've probably done so for good reason up to that point, and the A/B changes are more of a post-fact justification as opposed to the initial cause. I have no real way to predict the impact on view declines, but I feel like its a symptom and not a cause.
Besides this, I think it also serves as an ego booster because it allows creators to justify a video not doing well with another excuse than that the video was shit. Its also pushed by all the techbro youtube gurus who claim to be able to grow your channel and they were pushing it before it was a feature; ie doing it manually so you were basically switching out thumbnails after a few hours / days and fooling people into clicking again. As far as I can tell the entire purpose of the functionality is to mislead children into rewatching videos they have already watched.
It was discussed many moons ago but LTT is just a tech-spectacle channel. Just like pranks, spectacle content becomes harder and harder to get views on because most stuff has been done already or you reach a wall of ethics / legality that you can't cross. I also imagine its not easy to create all-caps titles and soyjak thumbnails about a stagnant market where manufacturers just rerelease the same few products every year because anything will sell. But seriously, LTT has a hundred different likely contributors to its decline, both people and product wise, and a leadership that's completely blind to what even made them good in the past, or what people want today.
I think trying to game the algo is pointless anyways as it basically just promotes stuff people like to watch, if you make videos just to fit the algo and not videos that people want to watch, of course it will recommend people something else when it notices that people just don't want to watch your slopThinking YouTube money will always be there is insane behavior (eat my entire ass, Linus). Blaming "the algorithm" is also stupid on top of constantly trying to game it. Just make good videos and people will watch them.
Wasnt the only reason they hired him was because he liked him back in the ncix days or some shit? The best ltt hosts have been long gone amd the quirk chungus replacements jave basically rotted any enjoyment and entertainment value the channel had.I remember back in the day, when Linus first onboarded Riley, they announced his joining the team through a bit where Linus found him digging through LTT's dumpster for scraps of food. Nowadays, I wonder whether or not that was actually entirely a bit...
I remember when Linus dropped a hard drive and the guy actually started screaming at him, saying things like "what is wrong with you?'" I mean, holy shit, he's not only your boss, he's also way older than you, actual insane behavior. The only thing more baffling is that the editors left that in.The guy who walked all over his boss to the point it ruined videos and concepts left? That's a big warning sign.
Oh wow, he actually opened up. I was expecting his usual fake act, pretending to be transparent while everything is curated. But this time, it seems like he genuinely talked about his frustrations. I sympathize a little, because it seem no matter what they do they are fucked, and it's not entirely their fault.I clipped the part at around 1:15:00, it's a 30 minute talk about how the LTT views are down considerably, to the point where Linus realizes he can't keep the company as big with those views.
Jake has likely left LTT, has removed all mention of it from his bio across multiple social media sites, has been demodded on the LTT forum, and has created a new YouTube (and tiktok) channel this week
