🌟 Internet Famous Linus Gabriel Sebastian & Linus Media Group / Linus Tech Tips - Narcissistic corporate shill YouTuber driving his media empire into the ground. KILL COUNT: 2

short-form content does work, and works extremely well, in fact, for channels like MKBHD.

Linus is in complete denial about this.
That's how alot of channels are becoming newly popular short form content on Youtube and other platforms.
He should know that with the zoomer troons he hires

It is, check this channel, here's the latest video but he has around 20 videos showing his progress of it https://youtube.com/watch?v=eqxwsfy72L0
this guy spent 3 years to build something similar to what he's doing and if you watch it, you can see that isn't something simple to do and the lower temps you go, the more exotic gas you need. While I think most of the 30k was labor, something like that would be that expensive
Didn't he just use freon? Freon isn't exotic.

It's not necessarily about being exotic, but a bunch of good refrigerants are highly regulated(including their handling and storage).

As far as the idiot canuck shelling out $30k for a 25 year old garage project, he's a fucking idiot that bought himself a huge liability and I wouldn't want that contraption anywhere near my business especially on video.

In a surprising twist, LTT actually made the segment about their declining viewership into it's own video:
https://youtube.com/watch?v=KqCV6Rk8kOA
Watched the whole thing and oh man Linus really has completely lost touch with reality. Every bit of feedback he gets from viewers he deconstructs and dismisses, he claims his reputation has been tarnished by snakes and seems to be not so subtly including Gamers Nexus among them. Luke obsesses over the lab's accuracy while ignoring the elephant in the room: those videos under perform because they're indistinguishable from AI slop.

Linus bemoans that no matter how good of a person he is, LTT has become so radioactive that any other YouTuber who dares collaborate with them receives backlash from their community. He has no idea how to restore goodwill since he thinks he has done absolutely nothing wrong. It's truly remarkable that he seems to have absolutely no idea how he could've avoided ruining his reputation.

Luke throws out an idea to try and convert views from the ADHD nigger cattle that watch YouTube Shorts into regular longform content. Without missing a beat, Linus brings out a book of excuses and constantly dismisses every idea as either having been tried already, or in some way proven to not work by others.

It's not a full blown deathspiral yet but it might become terminal and inescapable without good leadership to restore all the lost goodwill and earn back viewers who have completely tuned out. Given Linus has zero idea what's causing it, how to resolve it and won't take advice from anyone, LTT is doomed to fade into irrelevance.

I love that I could follow this whole setup from making liquid Hydrogen and Oxygen for rockets in Oxygen Not Included.

Their labs videos for PSUs and keyboards were in fact AI slop, with a 25% failure rate for tested PSUs(blowing up or otherwise becoming non functional) indicating they didn't know wtf they were doing with their test equipment.

edit: I just checked, their latest PSU video is still AI slop.

Here's how you fix your failing company.

First things first, you fire 90% of your employees. Most of them are useless. You are the main draw and personality of your channel. Nobody wants to watch or look at people who would fit in at a NAMBLA meeting.
Second, end the secondary channels and solely focus on LTT. Those other channels are nothing but time-wasters that serve to dilute your brand and attention.
Third, give up the lab dreams, give up the ridiculous warehouse space, and downsize. You are not Gamers Nexus and never will be. You are Slop-Man. Embrace the slop.

Do these three things and you wont even need to worry about your ever decreasing views.

Elijahs newest video is something out of a parody. He is so whipped up by the media its crazy https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8DwXM21wX0U
I feel like we have this saga every couple of years - extremely online Canadian person travels to the US, gives the border guards the impression that they might be working in the country, and spergs out about it.

You cannot work in this country if you don't have a work visa. It's the same way for Canada - if I show up at the border with my laptop and tell them I'm a freelance programmer, they're gonna have some questions about whether or not I'm trying to work illegally in Ontario.

This is some shit that I've known since I was a child going back and forth with my dad. I don't know how Canadian manchildren keep having this issue.

Pierby is a tranwoman and the united states hates transpeople right now
As opposed to leafistan where they're shot full of HRT and wear a dress for a couple of years before inevitably being bumped off by MAID (assuming a reckless jeet driver doesn't get them first)

God I have zero idea why Linus keeps hiring these screechy libspergs. You'd have figured he'd had enough after tranthony.

Checked the website and the review was done by the venerable Lucas N. (ot AI). I don't understand why they think posting reviews from nameless people helps their reputation. They need to get names behind these reviews if they want them to be taken seriously.

They can get all the names they want on the website plugging the shit in, but if it's an AI slop video people will continue to disregard it as such. The dumbest part about it is that they still have someone doing the work at the "labs", writing a script, filming some shots, editing it, and then need another person to paste the script into an AI voiceover.

The reality is that Linus doesn't want someone else becoming a "face" of anything at LTT because he's a narcissist and is afraid that much like in the past those people will eventually leave and potentially "steal" viewers even if they make a new youtube channel that isn't related to anything LTT was doing for content.

I had to dig deep into the the wayback machine to find the old about us page that had some "bios" about these "people". Even at the start the names were obfuscated. Digging a little more, it looks like Gary left in just over a month. He was there on the first snapshot on july 4th, and missing in the aug 14th snapshot.

Exactly this, the moment people hear that well-known AI slop narrator voice, they leave. They're not gonna stop, ask themselves "Hrmm, is this all AI or is only some of it AI?" and put the effort into investigating it to 'give it a fair chance'. They're gonna close the tab and watch something else. Its a worst foot forward kind of thing.

It's also utterly braindead from a business perspective due to the number of staff involved, and then having a shitty AI voiceover that still needs an AI tardwrangler. Linus runs his company like The Verge with that notorious PC build video that apparently had 7 people involved so they couldn't re-shoot everything they knew they got wrong(that was one of their many excuses immediately countered by plenty of 1-2 person youtube channels doing a better job).

It feels like a premature optimization thing. He's got it in his head that the Labs are going to eventually be so prolific in their output that its going to be an undue burden for a team member to sit down and record a script for a labs result, and they don't want to deal with the risk of making the AI switch later and losing audience to the change, so just AI right out of the gate, what could go wrong. When realistically, one of the major elements of any well balanced work schedule is low effort tasks. You want to have low hanging fruit for people who are a bit burnt out, for the twilight hours at the end of the week, or just for doing if you end up in a situation where all your assigned work is running and your just waiting for results. Lots of situations in which someone could take a jaunt over to a recording booth, grab a test result script, spend an hour recording a few takes, then come back to check in on whatever stress test they were running.

Sure, theoretically you could hyper optimize to the point that nobody has that downtime, but now you're AI 'optimization' requires another razor edge optimization to even make sense, and both of these are just reducing the quality of the workplace and the quality of the product, making something nobody wants. And then as you say, modern AI is fairly error prone, and its not real time, so each retake is longer than a human retake. Tardwrangling them likely takes longer, and its not going to get any faster. At a minimum, you have to listen to the entire clip, at normal speed, to make sure there's no pitch or tone errors, artifacts, etc that might be masked at higher speeds, so your bare minimum overhead is the entire time to record it yourself anyway. Any failure rate greater than 0% means its more expensive in a time sense.

If they didn't already clearly have the ability to record decent audio, sure. But they do, and it isn't like they're going to be eliminating that at any point. There's also no chance his entire 100 person staff is actually busy all damned day either without doing bullshit "work" just to keep themselves occupied to the point where no one can sit in front of a mic for 10 minutes and read out a script.

Scrapyard Wars finale, very gay, you can always tell Linus gets more points because he's the boss and always wins on his gay "letter of the law/spirit of the law" leaf think. Neither were something I'd want but there's a difference between inoffensive hotel and hiding the semen stains low light setups.
