The film is also based on the antagonists being popular but I don’t think people who are into “body positivity” or non binary genders are the popular kids in high schools.I remember a few people on the facebook post about this say that the flamboyantly gay male character being a part of the "heathers" is kinda illogical to the original story as two of the characters were made to look like they committed suicide because they were gay or some shit?
I'm posing this as more of a question as I've not seen the movie in full due to falling asleep when I watched it.

I love my gay dead son
Go watch the original. It's fucking brilliant
Yeah, he drank ... bottled water. Brilliant, indeed.

In reality these kids would just get their asses kicked then go cry about fatphobic, homophobic and racist their school is.
Actually, Veronica gets confused about this too. But JD explains that it's mineral water. Remember, this movie takes place in Ohio in 1988. Ain't nobody in Ohio drinking mineral water in 1989 unless they are some kind of abnormal. I believe JD's reasoning is that everyone would expect the two star jocks to drink beer. But in the end it actually works the way JD said it would.
However, these days with all the hipster health options out there I don't think anyone would bat an eyelash at mineral water.
Also, in the original the Heathers aren't flat out aggressive towards Veronica. She's actually part of their little clique and starts really hating it. They are more passive-aggressive and bitchy. This is way too tryhard.
What about Martha? Her character trait was that she is fat. So everyone treats her like garbage. In the beginning of the film Veronica forges the handwriting of one of the jocks to play a love note prank on Martha that gets her humiliated in front of everyone.
But now Heather Chandler is the landwhale. So will they use Martha or not? Her role seems pointless now that fat positive fatass rules the roost. Why make fun of Martha for being fat when Heather Chandler is herself an obeast?
How will they handle the jocks being set up as a gay suicide pact?
JD seems really flat and typical high school TV pretty boy. Christian Slater was pretty engaging as JD. His Jack Nicholson styled voice really helped to make he character come alive. This new actor just sounds like every other guy in a high school role.
It just looks like it's a comedy skit that runs longer than the five minutes it should have been allotted.
This was one of my favorite movies growing up. My brother made us watch Gleaming the Cube like 8000 times. I recently saw it again and found it to be tedious. But I can watch Heathers again and again.
I don't think I'll waste time with this version. I've seen enough from the trailer.
All of this. I do not know what they are trying to do with this "remake" and I use that term lightly in this case.
Also, seconding Gleaming the Cube being kinda tedious. But I love Pump up the Volume.
Sounds like a terrible idea from the start given the dumb changes here. That movie was BRILLIANT. I still think about the ending every change I get!I remember a few people on the facebook post about this say that the flamboyantly gay male character being a part of the "heathers" is kinda illogical to the original story as two of the characters were made to look like they committed suicide because they were gay or some shit?

You might as well say a film like Heathers really can't be made anymore given the 180 we've taken in the 30 years since. In reality these kids would just get their asses kicked then go cry about fatphobic, homophobic and racist their school is.

Too many losers are faving this I see.
From the looks of the comments, everyone hates this movie.
It's not a movie. It's supposedly going to be a TV series.
Right, my mistake. From the looks of the comments, everyone hates thismovieTV series.
I have to wonder justbwhatbthey were thinking though. How could they possibly have thought this was a good idea?
Really the entire plot doesn't work on a fundamental level with changing the Heathers considering it seems like they're just changing the appearances of the characters and not how the dynamics of high school popularity would function under these new circumstances. In the best case scenario and in the right hands, there's potentially an opportunity for this to be a biting commentary on people who've essentially weaponized victimhood and can achieve social power by having the sympathy of naive strangers and a good chunk of mainstream media behind them, but considering the cringe-worthy number of pop culture references and the dialogue between the faculty members, this series definitely isn't intelligent enough to pull that off and seems like this shot is being thrown in because "this is what kids are into right?"Also, in the original the Heathers aren't flat out aggressive towards Veronica.
