I see grown-ass adults hyping up cartoons that look meant for pre-teens at the absolute oldest, but they'll occasionally toss in characters swearing, dying, or fanservice to make it look like it isn't Disney XD slop
They're incredibly embarrassed by it, so they try and make it "adult" by adding mild fan service, mild violence, swears and characters having panic attacks, but in reality GameOverse is spiritually a 2000s Cartoon Network show with a light TV-14.

Man, I just feel bad for this guy. He seems genuinely like he has the mind of a child. At least, I do not really sense any ill will. It just feels like a child trying to talk to his guardian about how bad a day he has been having. He probably has some kind of issue up there that makes it difficult for him to express himself and he just lets his thoughts stumble out of his mouth without formulating them in a way that makes it clear what he is trying to say.
Like, with most other youtubers like this there is an aura of hubris when it comes to these kinds of video. This guy just seems like he took what people said to heart too much and was hurt by it.

It's almost sad that SMG4 became such a huge SM64 Blooper guy that everyone else who was doing the same thing either joined him (X and FM) or ended up getting trampled under his popularity.
Meanwhile Glitch itself became so big as an """indie""" animation studio that, besides Vivziepop's stuff, every indie cartoon is either produced by them, or ended up being buried with only a small cult following behind them (Some exceptions here and there but you get my point)

To be honest, I get MarioMario54321 on some level because SMG4 got really fucking annoying in its modern era and was everywhere to the point I started wishing that SMG4 never blew up. I saw the discussion on SMG4's main series earlier this thread, so I know everyone's heard the tune before: "Modern SMG4 bad. Classic SMG4 dumb fun.", and I was glad it was over because SMG4 could finally stop butchering his own series, but for me it went beyond the retarded "lore" approach to writing SMG4 adopted. That was bad, don't get me wrong, but it was also how SMG4 started monetizing the fuck out of the series' original characters via merch and other shit, and I feel that's also what motivated them to include the shitty OCs more, the reasoning that retarded and forced inkling known as Meggy became a human, pretty much the explicit reasoning for the redesigns of SMG4 and his other OCs that still used copyrighted 3D models, and the reason Peach's Castle was replaced by the new castle.
I'm no expert on what happened behind the scenes, but I think the moment Kevin got involved is when SMG4 went from stupid mario 64 bloopers done for fun to a corporatized, slopped project desperately trying to remain relatable and relevant to the kids, and it was all to funnel whatever revenue it got into Meta Runner and the transition to GLITCH. And the sad part is that worked. They took the Rooster Teeth method to it (but somehow worse, if that's possible) and it worked. That's not to say the final episodes didn't make some attempt to end on a high note by bringing the old stuff back, but as they say, the damage was done.
I might sound a bit MATI in this post, but this is why I'm utterly disgusted with GLITCH and don't watch any of its shows on a regular basis. Luke sacrificed his series on the altar of the dollar, and it really hasn't stopped with him getting more funding from big companies. GLITCH puts up a front of being better than the big corpos, but it's really not. Indie my ass.

It's called SM64 bloopers yet 90% of it is made in GMOD and the main plot is a really shitty It's A Wonderful Life rendition with the main conflict just being SMG4 going "I gotta end it now because... I just do, okay?" and no other in-universe reason given for it before Mario comes to a gay ass "le things ending gives it le meaning" reddit nigger message. Fucking To Boldly Flee was a better finale than this shit. At least it had an in-universe reason to kill off the main character

Anyways, I honestly kind of feel weird about it when it comes to SMG4 himself. He forgot about him entirely and indirectly caused harm to the person that inspired him in the first place. MM54321 makes it clear that it wasn't his fault but on some level, it really didn't feel right to leave him entirely in the dark. (Especially when it comes to celebrating the history of your channel...) I kind of wonder what would happen if Luke was made aware of this. It seems like he was really trying to reach out to someone. I don't think he deserved all the bad shit that's happened to him because of someone else's success. He deserved some resolution in the end.

I have never watched SMG4, but honestly trying to make it a big thing comes as Stolen Valor, at best.
The only reason people even gave it the time of day is because it parodied Nintendo's I.Ps. Don't get me wrong it's fine to do parodies even detailed ones. However trying to make it a big thing was never gonna work because it all was basically just a Nintendo fanfic.
Indeed without Nintendo's IP as a crutch they had little to offer of value. No wonder people noped out.Which again was fine when they were in their lane of lol humor videos.
If they wanted the big dollars, owning the franchise, and people to buy their OCs merch, they need to do something original. Parodies can only take you so far.
Part of me would find it funny if they just made Boggles a mainstay recurring character in the series, but instead of just taking a jab at GameOverse he was a strawman for everything or a walking punchline when he acts optimistic next to a cynical cast of characters.
A Spongebob/Squidward setup where the seemingly dumb character always comes out on top while the "above it all" cynic gets knocked down a peg could work.

I lowkey agree with the sentiment of the Chimptopia advertisement, in the sense that Glitch is the most soulless sludgemill this side of Disney, although they did it in the most strawman, annoying way possible to where they made themselves open season for the Glitch Gooners. That and they're shilling something of equal quality.
I kinda hate that Chimptopia advertised itself the way it did. Obviously, it's not going to have anything to do with GameOverse or have a remotely similar concept, and yet, because of that trailer, people are going to remember it as "The terrible show that tried to shit on GameOverse", while whatever the show is actually going to be about is ignored by the masses.
It's likely the real reason why they decided to advertise the show like that is to gain attention. After all "Bad publicity is still publicity".
