There' also the legal matter about minors possibly being exposed to this erp stuff that's being glossed over.

If one of those 18+ erp events happen, there's absolutely no way for anyone to verify that players over that age will actually be there. Grooming can happen, young tweens could potentially be exposed to it. Complications will arise, contraversies will happen. SE would face critisism for allowing these things to persist so openly without any way to really regulate it.

Also GMs are just doing their job. If they get hundreds of reports because someone put up an erp ad that basically invites people to come be degenerate, they have to act on it. It's the same with RMT and anything else.

Rather than trying to cancel the GM in question, they should instead focus on advocating for an rp tab feature for PF where they can advertise freely and out of the way of players who aren't in the rp community.

Square Enix generally doesn't give a shit about how their players are treated as evident with their own employees being nasty to their customers. They only care if it could hurt them in a PR way and a good example of this was the flood of nude Ryne pics on Twitter with lalafell mixed in. Yoshida addressed this issue on the PLL after 5.1 came out. The people trying to use E8S as a reason it's okay to advertise ERP in the PF is downright hilarious and they need a white jacket.

Back in World of Warcraft's WOTLK halcyon days, I got together a little outfit of swarthy souls in a fun gaggle called The Love Boat, and we spent our time taking the piss out of roleplayers on Wyrmrest Accord, which was at the time the #2 roleplaying server. This necessarily meant getting into and keeping an eye on some of the out-of-game communities, which at that time was mostly forums boards. The degenerate shit and the predatory grooming shit was prevalent there - just shuffled away into '18+' sections.

All this to say that roleplaying and degeneracy go hand in hand, but FF14 has a unique special spice that enables its "roleplaying community" to be out there loud and proud about being a bunch of coomers. Maybe it's the smaller playerbase, maybe it's the more attractive models, maybe it's that coomers grew up with Square; I dunno. But like, WoW had Moon Guard's goldshire, and people made jokes about that shit and generally wanted the GMs to do something about it. I would never imagine this kind of seething outrage or coordination happening in that game, though.

It's probably easier for me to avoid those situations because I don't have any friends and almost never socialize and when I do, it's very dry and filtered most of the time. Even when I'm not cracking a joke, my crude behavior and language rubs people the wrong way and they just can't either handle it or don't like it and because it's the internet, people try to pick fights with me about everything. I'm too old to endure some kid moral fagging at me or being passive aggressive with me because of something I said that they just couldn't fucking let go.

One time I jokingly called an FC mate a fag and this broad and her non binary boyfriend got offended at me and said it wasn't cool but not even 3 seconds later and they call someone a gaybo and giggle at each other.

Another time during a learning party for Emerald ex, someone joined the party and said something along the lines of them joining as a certain job because if there was more than one job than we wouldn't clear. I responded with a confused "Okay?" and for some reason they got super aggro at me and said "I don't understand what your problem is I was just trying to make conversation." I replied back that I was confused because this is a learning party and not a clear party and there was a difference. That pissed them off even more and they proceeded to spend the remaining time being super passive aggressive with me when I told them I wasn't expecting to clear. "Well if you're not expecting a clear, then why even join this party?"

"....because it's a learning party and I'm learning? Why join a learning party and expect a clear? I'm just happy to get whatever experience I can out of this."

Other people started white knighting for her and telling me that what I was saying was uncalled for and unnessecary and I'm sitting here like, it's the fucking internet. Stop being offended over every goddamn little thing.

At that point I just dropped the party and black listed them because I just didn't want to deal with the passive aggressivism but it was a sharp reminder that literally no matter what you say, someone will get ass mad about it.

Lol no, that isn't me. You won't catch me fucking dead on the official forums website. I don't generally play enough to look at that party finder much, I do raid just maybe 4 hours a week with some buddies of mine and if we get time, we'll do some extra shit. So PF isn't something I look at regularly. I should have been more clear, when I was talking about degeneracy I didn't mean FFXIV specifically, but in other areas of the internet, especially the anime community.

My main point of grief is when they congregate in main city areas and shit it up by just being annoying faggots in general, spamming emotes in chats shaking their asses or what the fuck ever. I think that's what caused a lot of the stigma across multiple servers, especially Balmung, not the actual RP shit, it's just regular players overall cannot fucking stand them. It's probably the worst gaming community period for me. There's no other game I can think of that rivals FFXIV's toxicity. If people want to see what Sodom looked like before God burned it to the ground, this game is probably the best image.
