I loathe Schrier, but for sake of completion I guess...

This one is not exactly surprising, but it's still kinda sad to see that they are going rewrite Cid's backstory. I highly doubt that the new story will have the same amount of tension and emotion poured into it as the original.
I'm cautiously optimistic but I do hope they fit in some curse words for his vocabulary. As long as they can do that, I don't mind them making him a bit nicer. Honestly the idea of him being a massively respected folk figure is pretty cool.

I have a fleeting interesting in playing part 2 and 3 of the series after playing Remake. But I felt exhausted after finishing Remake and then hearing about how long Rebirth was, it feels like such a time sink to play this through.
Just skip most of the side missions and go for the main story. It's meaty enough on its own without being overwhelming.

Edit: and play on easy if you want a simple hack and slash

Okay so i decided to actually play FF7 remake intergrade(First time i played it i gave up on ch3 because it was a slog) and although i do like the combat so far and i do admit i enjoy the character interactions so far, everything else is just a slog. Im trying to 100 percent the game because i hate myself.

Yeah that can make people hate it. Rebirth was better than Remake for me, but if you get tired of it easily then absolutely don't worry about any side stuff first time through.

New Hamaguchi interview up on Bilibili (CN)

Doesn't really tread new ground but talks about the branching character interactions some. Main takeaways are that there will be more compilation characters brought into Revelation and that the chinks hav a big hard on for Sephy x Cloud

This thread must have been made I got more issues with this game then a magazine stand. But first fuck nomura for being such a bitch he put hamaguchi as the fall guy when revelations tanks
What the hell gave you that impression? The game has sold gangbusters sense going multiplat. Especially on switch 2.

Nomura if anything needed this guy to take the wheel so he could make KH4. Besides Nomura hasn't done too much public interviews anyway. Last time I remember him doing something substantial was when they re released AC in theaters.

I'm in the same boat, I picked up the two games on sale on Steam finally. I've already been spoiled on the major derivatives to the plot, but I've been mildly curious of the in-between. They've somehow managed to make Jessie top waifu with how they've characterized her, I'm over the awkward flower girl and the big-tittied shortstack childhood friend. That said, Aerith definitely has the cute girl next door look and god bless the Japanese for not nerfing Tifa's assets. The combat is taking some getting used to, but it's cool to see each character get their own gimmick. Cloud's Punisher mode is neat, but Tifa is truly a 10lb assbeating stuffed in a 1lb bag. It's wild seeing Midgar and the slums in a modern visual fidelity, it's like how I remember those still-painted backgrounds from my childhood. As someone who has played through the original FFVII, I've enjoyed the minor subversions of expected plot points. I'm not so keen on the Sephiroth and Nibelheim flashbacks coming in so early in the plot, but I guess it's fine for people new to FFVII as a whole. It brings me slight joy that the devs remembered "wait, Cloud wasn't always super broody, he used to be a wiseass and occasionally funny".

So far, can't bring myself to really hate it. Then again, FFVII was the first RPG I got when I got a PS1, so I might have a bit of a bias (followed by Legend of Dragoon. LoD remake fucking WHEN, Sony?). The memberberries are doing some heavy lifting so far. I can still remember going to Blockbuster and reading the manual on the way home whenever we stopped somewhere with enough light to see the pages. There's better characters and stories in other games, but there's just something about the world, settings, music, and characters of FFVII as a whole. I consider Crisis Core one of the best side games because a.) it's a fun game that stands on its own merits and b.) it somehow managed to not detract from the game it's based on. At worst, we got Genesis, but given the modern gaming landscape, a Gackt OC that reads poetry is on the low end of the gay shit to put in a video game spectrum.

Glad you're having fun with it! The remakes have so much charm it's really easy to look past the lower points and they've been improving with every game, so I have high hopes for Rev. The times where you see the real Cloud come through are peak character moments.
Fujoshit is hitting the Chinks like HRT hit the autistics and crack cocaine hit black neighborhoods. I was wondering why I saw something about that in a non-fandom space recently.

Xi needs to step up the arrests yesterday.
Apparently this was a fan meet where you could ask questions and get an autograph from Hamaguchi if you purchased stuff, so the fujos assembled en masse and bought every Cloud and Seph plushie they could. Roughly 2/3 of the questions were veiled shipping (I saw one asked if Seph knew that Cloud had crossdressed), but Hamaguchi handled it like a pro and managed not only to feed them a little fan service but prioritize the actual questions.

I do hate that Aerith has to die. Idk. Like I understand the reasoning for it in the original, as it was a truly shocking moment because she had become meaningful to players. It was a punch to the gut.

But if she is brought back would that make it worse?
I think there's a way to bring back characters that wouldn't seem too cringey and the remakes already pissed off half the fandom, so if the devs are older and more sentimental and would want that then I say go fucking nuts. We're all a lot different than we were back then and this is the last time we'll get FF7 in the spotlight, so I don't see the point in chasing that emotion of her death again because nothing will match it. Personally I'm hoping for an ending that nobody is expecting.
