Call me crazy, but I think Phils doing some retconning here.

A review of Khats last stream shows her yawning, slumped forward unable/unwilling to hide her lack of interest and engage with her husband and/or chat. She was clearly bored of either/a mix of being asked questions by chat, the game, or indeed bored of sitting talking to Phil.

I don’t doubt there was some malice in chat but that is quite clearly not why she called time on that stream early.

Why the fuck would they even change this in the first place? I know Platinum's involved now but still. I won't be playing until I finish SH2 Remake here.

his current tactic of "starving" the trolls by not "giving them what they want" is hilarious because in doing so, hes giving us exactly what we want. hes being a whiny smartass with no self-awareness, which is prime content. in my opinion, his meltdowns on his little podcast and the begging is more entertaining than him failing and seething at games. lots of people suck at video games and rage at them, but Phil's tendency to be as dishonest, greedy, and oblivious as he is, is unique to him. the problem is Phil, not the games. as the past two decades have proven, Phil can be doing literally anything and be extremely unlikeable because of who he is as a person. we all know he watches detractor channels, does he somehow miss the fact that a lot of the most viral clips of him dont even involve him gaming, but sperging out at his trolls/audience? does he not see the clips of him spiraling about how hes "totally starving the detractors" get tens of thousands of views? i know this is Phil, but this is peak delusion.

also, we've been calling Kat a fatass ever since you stupidly brought her back on stream. you already made the mistake, why continue to hide her if the Kat's out of the bag (haha) and you'll be pelted with fat wife jokes regardless? has she spiraled into depression and gotten even fatter? he doesnt seem to realize that he cant win. trolls will continue to dominate his mind and life until he dies from a stroke on stream, and hes too delusional and prideful to stop giving them attention so he'll continue to double down time and time again.

I dont care if someone is bad at video games. That alone wouldn't elevate Phil to King of Lolcows. Its his vanity, lack of self awareness and unfettered greed that do it

Then, after another failed night waiting until 10 PM trying to squeeze money from the dents, he used Khet as a prop: “I didn’t spend time with my wife and she was really sad"

In a week or so, when the dents are still withholding their money way past 9PM, he’ll forget this soppy story just like last time.

I think he thinks that if he changes any options (besides graphics) he's not getting the "intended experience" and it will lessen his ability to objectively criticize the game

One of my favorite instances of this recently was when Cronos did the standard "use this image to calibrate your brightness settings" thing most games these days do and Phil didn't bother to make sure the image looked right. He loudly declared "I'll trust the default" and then the game was super fucking dark, looked like shit, and he complained that he couldn't see anything. Even when the game tells him "hey we don't know what the settings are on every screen of every player who is playing this game, so please take a second before you play to make sure this looks right to you so you don't have trouble looking at the game we made" he doesn't bother to make adjustments.

I've been thinking about this a lot lately (especially with BF6 and his continuing refusal to rebind any keys) and I've just put together this is also why he doesn't do anything to the food he eats for the "rewards". I thought it was only because he was playing it up to go viral or whatever but I genuinely think that he feels like he has to experience whatever meal he gets as the "intended experience", so he doesn't bother adding his own sauce or making adjustments to his meals.
I believe that this "intended experience" thing extends to every part of his life.
