How badly do they screw up the "Rain" scene assuming they actually use it?
They screw it up completely. Theres no buildup at all because they change the entire scenario around it. It no longer serves as an introduction to Spike's past and instead now acts as his re introduction to Julia/the end of her shitty arc. Instead of Faye being kidnapped, Jet's daughter is the one that gets kidnapped.
They set up a meeting where Jet is to deliver Spike to Vicious. The two of them act like theyre complient, but then shoot everyone, not knowing they were just holograms. The two of them get captured and chained up in a church where live action dramatic Vicious says some shit and anounces he'll kill everyone, including Jet's daughter. Its at this moments that theyre saved by stronk womxn Faye, in a complete reversal of the original anime. She shows up in her ship and shoots every thug dead. Spike, Jet and the girl escape, but when they get to the ship, Spike remembers this is supposed to be Ballad of the Fallen Angels and says some reheated lines from the anime about fighting his past and whatnot. He says goodbye to the team like hes never going to see them again, which is weird because this is BotFA and not Real Folk Blues: He's not on a suicide mission, Julia is very much alive and theres like 3 people left in the church.

Rain starts to play while he non chalantly walks around the church picking up ammo from dead guys, its very lame and it looks like ass. He kills Lin and Shin on his way to Vicious and then the shows attempts to do a 1-1 adaptation of the original fight, which ends up looking like a Samurai Cop scene.

Also, do they not adapt Pierrot Le Fou for season 1?
Hes in episode 8. They give him a scene where he goes to a circus because of childhood memories and recites Blade Runner in french to an animatronic dressed as a sad clown.

/tv/ is having a field day with this image

Man, Jet doesn't deserve this shit. I actually feel sorry for a character for having gotten a lousy backstory written for him in an adaption. It's also uncanny how much the actor sounds like Jet's original dubbed voice.
As for Faye, that's not even girlboss anymore, she is just an aggressive, unbelievably unlikeable cunt. The forced friction written between everyone for the sake of witty dialogue is tiring to watch and Julia is one of the worst things about this adaption. She was unhappy with Vicious but nothing implied that he abused her, you can write a story about relationships gone wrong without it being classic domestic abuse, is this the only dynamic they think their audience can understand? Knowing that Vicious was like a mirror to Spike before turning the other way makes it a hell of a lot more tragic that things went so wrong but here he's cartoonishly evil. And what's with Spike dropping his tastes in fucking brothels when they get Ein? And I love Yoko Kanno's music but spamming the most energetic pieces every time there's an action scene should be considered abuse of good material.

Vicious. Laughably bad 60s batman style villain. Whenever he is on the screen the show screeches to a halt. He has entirely too much screen time.
Which is strange because for me at least Viscous was the worst of the characters in the original anime. He was basically your generic Anime edge lord talking about how life has no meaning and shit, which was kind of his whole point with him being ruthlessly cutthroat and ambitious.
First they make Faye latina when she was asian, then make Jet black (and a deadbeat dad, racist much?) now they make Ed white.

The fuck were they thinking?
The race swapping is so fucking bizarre. The only one they didn't swap is Spike and that's really only because he is racially ambiguous.
How are the cowboys in the tv from the anime. The girl with long blonde hair and the guy. I think they were called Punch and Judy? And might been working for the antagonist? Its been a while. Are they in it?
Someone posted a screencap from the trailer showing the pair. Judy is apparently unsexied and as far as the original anime goes they were just the hosts of a show advertising bounties. How badly they got translated I'm not sure however.
It's disturbing how old Cho looks for someone his age.

Hey grandpa, tell us about the time you did jello shots and saw Sugar Ray in 2001.
Some people just age like shit but a lot of it depends on lighting and camera angles. I'm sure outside of this Cho doesn't look as old as he does and just has Asian Man Syndrome where he looks like he could be anywhere from 30 to 70.
I just noticed how ugly those goggles look. They look like shitty CGI or some ugly plastic toy you get at McDonald's not goggles.
He kills Lin and Shin
WTF, that is uncalled for. They didn't do anything wrong.

It's been said before but Cho just doesn't work as spike. You can't have a character who is supposed to be roguish, charismatic and in the prime of his life and have him be played by a 50 year old Korean guy whose face looks deflated and has all the charisma of a piece of wood . I mean this "adaptation" in general is a dumpster fire, but when the main character is so utterly miscast it just brings the show down to a place that it'll never recover from.

It gets even worse with Spike when he acts like a whiny teenager who acts like he was forced to be a Bounty Hunter. Like seriously he doesn’t even care if he fucks up in his job at all
