What the fuck no one mentioned David Allen Coe dying in the Country Music Thread? Well Goddam. Let's go, I'm gonna start by posting some lesser known songs that i've been jamming on lately. (Edit: didn't notice the one poster with the one video posted, I was incorrect, but Coe still needs more love)

Also if anyone knows a source to download all his albums I'd be very grateful, can't find them on most major torrent sites I know (i'm a bit out of the loop at this point been some years since i did some serious music downloading), so at this point I'm worried I'm gonna have to download each individual youtube video and convert them to mp3s.
Call me a poser, but this one's always been my favorite Coe song
My daddy learned it on guitar and he'd change the line "the only time I know/I'm your David Allen Coe" to his name (in a way that rhymes, but I can't share what because doxx,) and every time I hear it I think of my dad. <3

You can't be a poser when your favorite song is the perfect country and western song.

He also did do one of my favorite covers with his rendition of Up On Cripple Creek

Hell yeah! That's what it's all about! My dad was a huge David Allan Coe fan, and I heard a lot of his songs all through growing up. Nothing quite like listening to your dad drunk singing "I Made Linda Lovelace Gag" in front of your mom lmao

Fucking love his cover of that. I really love the Martha White intro too. That whole concert in Nashville with the Silver Star Jumpsuit was amazing. I love the extra verse he adds to Longhaired Redneck and sing it when I play it on guitar.

A few songs I never heard anywhere else from there that stick with me from that concert

That might be half of his good songs
Hell yeah, we did it!

For what it's worth I actually heard some newer stuff that isn't complete trash that's getting some traction

I'm not super into all his stuff but Zach Top at least makes some actual country sounding music, sounds straight out of the 90's era of country,

Just checked out a song by this guy, Colter Wall, only song I heard so far from him is this

Okay, right off the bat, he's CANADIAN , but he's onto something here, got that old Doo Wacka country music going on, I like the lyrics, Hell, I like his voice. But his voice really doesn't really work for this song, it's like Johnny Cash trying to sing over Hank William Sr's band or something (a bit of an exaggeration, it's not THAT good), and it just clashes, within 30 seconds of listening I was able to sing it better with the music. But I don't hate it, like I said they're onto something here just need to put the pieces together a little better, maybe I'll check out some more

How do you guys feel about these two + is there anybody else worth a fuck these days? Need some more hope for the future with all the greats dying off. Whose left besides Willie Nelson at this point?

Surprised you've only just now heard of him-he seems to be big in the online country space. I do like his EP Imaginary Appalachia

As well as his murder ballad Kate McCannon

Afterwork review: I don't hate this guy, but first off he really wants to sounds like Johnny Cash, which isn't a bad thing, I think we all would like to sound like Johnny Cash sometimes, but he really wants to sounds like Old Man "Hurt" Johnny cash after he mostly lost his voice and energy. Dude has a great voice just wish there was some more energy behind it, which I guess isn't what he's going for, it's more drinking a glass of whiskey alone in a cabin in Montana country music.

Understandable. I think he gets a little away from the Johnny Cash stuff in his Western Swing and Waltzes album, which has a decent cover of Big Iron

Yessir we can!

Gotta watch the video for this one

Im being very drawn to country music as of late
Johnny Cash is pretty good but theres also the hicklib "This land is your land" which I really like and "Fox on the run" which Im not sure is country music but still is very good.
Uh, yessir, Fox on the Run is country.

Another Tom T Hall great, mandatory listening if you haven't heard
