So let's talk about country music and before you faggots go ahead and say it's dead or whatever, no it's not shut the fuck up there are still fucking stellar bands like Midland or Chris Stapleton who are fucking killing it

I'm still partial to older outlaw country. Marty Robbins is my fucking all time favorite, I was so stocked that F:NV used his music and helped people discover him

Gunfighter's Ballads and Trail Songs might be a perfect album

Also got a soft spot for Ricky Skaggs, killed it when he was inducted in the CMA hall of fame

Thank you for making this thread from a lurker that's too shy to post. The compilation albums Vinyl Wastelands has some really underrated singers. Recently I've been listening to Eddie Noack, Johnny Paycheck and Billy Joe Shaver. Marty Robbins has one of the best voices in country.

Though im not big with the The Byrds (any era, be it Folky, Psychadelic or country), Gene Clark is a big favorite of mine, No Other is a masterpiece.
My bro Robin Pecknold did a beautiful job covering Strength of Strings.
Gene's collab with one of the Dillard's is good too (same goes with The Dillard's work)
Now for the late Gram Parsons:
I also enjoy me some Townes Van Zandt
Speakin of Wilco, you cant forget Uncle Tupelo:
Alice In Chain's and Jerry Cantrell may not be considered country but its country influence bleeds into their music more than the other Grunge bands, especially in Jerry's amazing solo debut.
90s era Alice In Chain's drives me fucking nuts in how perfectly they blend ideas from so many genres and musicians that its just not fucking fair.

Just want to point out that Morgan Wallen deserves a second chance, and just because they’re trying to destroy his career all because he said the gamer word years ago, doesn’t change the fact that he still has talent.
Funny shit he was recorded by a freaking doorbell. Doubt he was thinking about that. Yeah sucks for him, still is a dumbass as he said it loud, loud enough to be recorded across the street. Experience from among that crowd and neighborhoods (pointing at you, East Nashville!) is they watch and talk about the goings on recorded on smart doorbells. It's part of the local gossip.

Talent or not, the Nashville industry is very particular about their image. It's why current country is so saccharine. The big wigs don't want to rustle listeners jimmies. They don't like those who cause scenes. A lot of fans would forgive Wallen, but if he wants that Grand Ol' Opry fame, he is going to have to fly right. For certain, he has eyes that carry alot of influence, on him hard now.
