Peter was always such a nasty, sociopathic little shit and for the life of me, I will never understand why the character is so celebrated. The whole Neverland thing is creepy and I'm tired of all these schmaltzy cinematic attempts. Didn't even like the Disney one.

Alice is a lot more fun the more open and ambiguous it is. It's a high road trip story of nonsense and having some kind of emotional backstory just defeats the point.

As for the casting, not surprised. I'm sure they won't learn their lesson after yet another box office bombing.

I thought the point of Peter was that he was supposed to represent the spirit of eternal childhood. His is an undeveloped mind that only sees its way to the next adventure. He can never get old or mature in any way. He's basically a force of nature. Trying to humanize him into a character is a lot like to humanize Atreyu from NeverEnding Story into a character - there's no point to doing so since the character only exists so that the readers can identify with him.

Yeah, I don't think you're supposed to like Peter per se, but he can remind you of when you were a little innocent jerk like him, and what it was like to get caught up in a fantasy land that runs on little kid logic.

There are two kinds of raceswapping: "Nick Fury" raceswapping, where the swap kind of fits the character and adds a new angle to him, and "Piss Whitey Off" raceswapping, where you know the producers are rubbing themselves raw over all of the butthurt they think the white audience will feel over it.
I thought the MCU was good with raceswapping. With Samuel L. Jackson and Tilda Swinton, for example, they're just great actors to have, even if one was just because of China and not having a Tibetan. Mordo was fine, as was Heimdall - and again, good performers that you'd want to have onboard.

They got fuck all credit for it, of course, with the wokescolds hating even one minority character being made white, even though it was because of Chinese racism. But much like the fans who wanted Monica Rambeau as Captain Marvel, they were ignored so that any disagreement could be painted as bigotry.

Though it's interesting to cast Angelina Jolie as the mother, considering she adopted a multicultural brood herself. I don't at all trust the film to not be a woke mess, and the kneejerk reaction to not only rewriting two stories but making them black as well is very likely to be borne out, though. I don't trust it to not be anything more than pointless virtue signaling and/or unrealistic colourblind casting.

I can't believe this one is still there:

i didn't even need to see that everything was racebent to know this was a stupid fucking idea. who fucking cares what peter and alice did before their stories. even Hook was an awkwardly executed premise, one that i enjoyed but moreso out of nostalgia and childhood bias.

come up with new ideas hollywood. please. there's a zillion other fairytails to exploit.

That person’s first name is “American”?
As the man said himself,

Yes, my mother named me that. She claims a woman she knew in college, who named her daughter 'America', inspired the name. She also tells me that she was thinking of naming me 'Obnard'. She was and always has been a very eccentric and creative person

David Oyelowo is one of my favourite actors. He's also not African American btw, he's from Oxford, though he spent some of his childhood in Nigeria where his parents are from. Came up through British theatre tradition - got into LAMDA (that's a big deal if you're an actor in Britain) then Royal Shakespeare Company. Seriously, checkout Gringo he was in with Charlize Theron and Joel Edgerton. It's one of the most underated films I know.

I'll keep an open mind on this film just because he's in it. I genuinely rate him up there with the greats like Jack Lemon.

The film does look like a woke trashfire, though.

They do realize that Africa has tons of folklore and fairy tales of their own that they can adapt into movies and cast all the black people they want, right?
They don't even have to write new stories, the stories are already there, all of them public domain so they don't have to spend a dime on the rights.
Will these stories translate well enough to attract a worldwide audience? Perhaps not but we don't know because they haven't tried it once.

Yes but those African Fairy Tales aren't know by the general public and don't have a built in audience. You actually risk losing money because Woketards won't pay to see something they don't recognize.

On a scale of 0 to Epstein, exactly how pedo will this be? Lewis Carroll was most definitely a pedo. and JM Barrie was very likely one as well (he considered age 10 to be the age of perfection in boys -- and he never consummated his marriage and even forged a will to gain custody of some young boys after their parents died.) So merging these 2 stories together seems to be a massive pedo crossover that probably has pedos fangirling in anticipation.
Yeah, I hate this just because the backstories of Alice in Wonderland and Peter Pan would probably have something to do with kiddy diddling.
