Peter was always such a nasty, sociopathic little shit and for the life of me, I will never understand why the character is so celebrated. The whole Neverland thing is creepy and I'm tired of all these schmaltzy cinematic attempts. Didn't even like the Disney one.
Alice is a lot more fun the more open and ambiguous it is. It's a high road trip story of nonsense and having some kind of emotional backstory just defeats the point.
As for the casting, not surprised. I'm sure they won't learn their lesson after yet another box office bombing.
I thought the point of Peter was that he was supposed to represent the spirit of eternal childhood. His is an undeveloped mind that only sees its way to the next adventure. He can never get old or mature in any way. He's basically a force of nature. Trying to humanize him into a character is a lot like to humanize Atreyu from NeverEnding Story into a character - there's no point to doing so since the character only exists so that the readers can identify with him.
