On the JRE podcast, Brendan and Joe talk about over the top parents at kids sporting events who live vicariously through their children and put too much pressure on their kids.
Joe talks about how parents shouldn't be pressuring their kids in sports and says how he never forced his kids into anything. Brendan totally agrees with him and parrots all his points. Brendan goes further and says he doesn't put pressure on his own kids and just wants them to have fun doesn't care about what level they're playing at. Brendan goes even further and says how he pulls parents aside to tell them to go easy on their kids and how they're spoiling sports for their children.
Unfortunately for Brendan, he forgot that he has an Internet talk show where he's dedicated the last three years telling stories of pressuring, berating and having manipulative behavior over his kids. Not only has he been living his failed sports dreams through a six and ten year old, he's also had public meltdowns in front of them.
1. Brendan getting upset and swearing in front of his kids team and embarrassing his son.
2. Brendan talking about taking things away from his son if his performance drops.
3. Brendan telling his son "You've got to perform" and guilt tripping him about all the time Brendan has put in with him and how he should quit and "just play rec" if he doesn't give Brendan his desired results
4. Brendan telling his son that he's not going to succeed academically or in any other field besides sports. So if he wants to be successful, it has to be through sports.
5. Brendan telling his son that his MVP award doesn't mean shit to him because the competition isn't at a national level.
6. Brendan coercing and forcing his son to play a match while being ill and throwing up the day before so Brendan can win the big game.
7. Brendan getting kicked out of a his sons match after he got aggressive and swore at the umpire. Brendan got barred from the next match and dedicated the next week of his podcast to slandering the umpire.
