I honestly thought the movie completely butchered thanos as a villain,
forced tons of virtue signaling (Women stand together in a circle triumphet music plays),
...and didn't even really deliver on good action sequences (No hulk rematch?).

So, I saw GOTG on TV the other day and a thought occurred...

Thanos sent Gamora and Nebula to Ronan to help get the power stone, so why are they still on Thanos's ship when the Avengers go back in time? Is that scene supposed to be right before they're sent?

Yeah. Thanos briefly mentions that he's sending the two of them to keep an eye on Ronan just before Nebula glitches out.

the Girl Power shot wouldn't bother me if they actually went all the way and included every female fighter of the MCU.Sure, the TV characters can't be included, but what about Lady Sif?The Russos said she was snapped off-screen,so that means she was revived off-screen,but where the hell is she?Are they saving her up for Guardians 3?
Man,Thor's companions really got the shaft in the MCU(I mean, one of them was recast in Thor Dark World and most people didn't notice because that's how sidelined they were...).They all had nice chemistry in the first Thor movie but then were all sidelined after that...

I'm curious about that too. Since Jaimie Alexander has her TV show she has scheduling conflicts. It looked like a love triangle was forming in The Dark World with Thor, Sif, and Jane but that never happened and then Jane and Thor just end their relationship in the third movie

Man, the God of Thunder did get the short end of things out of the original six Avengers.

Or not include Mantis because she's not a fighter and would be practically useless in that situation. Or explaining why Evil Gamora's there. Did Gamora just happen to see a bunch of women doing some kind of weird catwalk in the middle of a battlefield and decide to join in?

Its honestly not worth picking apart the logic of inclusions/exclusions because the movie was operating on toy commercial logic by that point.

She'd already been convinced by Good Nebula to join them, and by that point Gamora had already been iffy on Thanos to begin with, her introduction scene in this movie is Evil Nebula bowing before Thanos and Gamora giving him the ol "Fuck you" sneer so it's not like it took much to begin with.

So I actually didn't give a flying fuck about the MCU until I got dragged to see Infinity War and was blown away by it. Afterwards I watched a bunch of the prior films and sorta enjoyed most of them. IW is still the best imo, but Endgame was pretty good.

I agree. I rolled my eyes at the grrl power scene but it was more in a "I can't believe they were so blatant about it" kind of way. There's a shit ton of powerful women in the MCU, most of them with very good story archs and that scene felt out of place at worst. For me, at this point is just a production faux pas; like a badly placed Wilhelm scream or spotting some particularly gratuitous product placement.
Exactly my thoughts. Anyone who's at least somewhat familiar with the MCU knows there's a shitload of good female characters, so putting them all together seemed unnecessary and cringey. It felt so weird and pandering that I couldn't help but burst out laughing

I think a lot of the "torch passing" feels really weak because they're being handed to characters who just frankly haven't been given a lot of screen time.
We honestly didn't see that much of Valkyrie or Sam during the final fight. They could have teamed up and done some awesome combos and we'd have more of a reason to believe that they should be next in line. Like, Sam's most memorable scene in the MCU is captain America lapping him 300 times around the reflecting pool. Valkyrie has had her moments but nothing to the power level of Ragnarok Thor. So they kind of seem like diversity picks, even though they both could be great in the respective roles. It doesn't feel great. I really wanted them to keep cross-pollinating titles to keep things fresh, but now that they've given important mantels to c-list characters we're probably in for some more crappy origin flicks or Disney series.

I think infinity war is a lot better, the pacing and scale of IW is a lot bigger and grander. I think Endgame was really good and really funny, but I think the battles and fights of Infinity War were honestly a lot more satisfying than the chaotic finale of Endgame. Other than the issues I put in the spoiler, I thought that it was a great second part to IW, but a lot of the conclusions make me uneasy for the next phase.

I really don't think it's that cringey of a moment.

In a way, I think it's quite hilarious, because both times I have seen the movie, nobody reacted to Captain Marvel. At all. But when a bunch of the OTHER women of the MCU joined in? The audiences loved it and applauded. It's as if people care more about GOOD characters than they do WAMEN characters.

On another topic, since I've seen it twice now ...

I know that killing off the "2018 Thanos" right at the very beginning of the movie is a point of controversy ... Especially since the Thanos we see in the grand finale is the 2014 Thanos (meaning that this Thanos did not go through things like the sacrifice of Gamora, or the victory in Infinity War). I get it; I get why it turns off some audiences.

HOWEVER, for me, I really like how this 2014 Thanos acted in the movie ... Because I believe that this is what the 2018 Thanos would have done if put into the same predicament. There were plenty of people who had worn "Thanos Was Right" t-shirts and posted #ThanosWasRight hashtags all over social media over the past year, showcasing their dumbassery. To me, 2014 Thanos' goal proves that he was NEVER a good guy, nor was he ever "right."

Thanos is the Mad Titan, not some tragic martyr. He is a death obsessed psychopath with a god complex ... And yes, that includes the Thanos we saw in Infinity War. He views himself as a god, who wants to be both feared and respected (Iron Man 1 callback-- very intentional callback, I might add). Before Loki dies in Infinity War, he specifically says "You will never be a god."

2014 Thanos wanting to wipe out ALL life in the universe and starting over just proves that he has always cared more about the "god" status. He sees what the Avengers are doing in response to what 2018 Thanos "gave them" and is spiteful about it because he expected everyone to be THANKFUL for what he did ... Because he views himself as a god.

Basically, the events of Endgame pretty much reaffirmed my "character analysis" of Thanos after I saw Infinity War, and I'm very pleased. They certainly gave the man more depth than the comics did ... But at the same time, this adaptation feels very respectful and true to the comics, too. I love it.

Finally saw it in theaters and some nigger
yelled out "WAKANDA FOREVAH!" when BP showed up. Everybody laughs.
There were also a couple of autists who clapped at some Captain Marvel moments. Guy sitting next to me wanted to clap a couple of times but nobody else did. I love living in a woke city.

Yeah, this is Gamora literally right before she betrayed Thanos in the normal timeline.

I don’t understand why she was in this movie. I get that she’s going to be a big deal but her role was inconsequential and distracting. She should have just had an origin movie in phase 4 after they closed the book on the old avengers. Making her suddenly have just existed the whole time but never being seen or mentioned by anyone is just weird.

The problem is it’s females fighting instead of making babies and sandwiches.

Saw it today with girlfriend, it was fine. CM was as uncharismatic and lifeless in her brief appearances as everyone was saying she was. Girl power scene was as subtle as CWC in a GameStop, I was waiting for fucking Cindy Lauper to start playing. Everyone was good in it.

Can't say I'm interested in Marvel going forward outside of the Guardians and possibly Spider-Man if they ever do Venom right. Now that this is out of the way, I'm ready for Pikachu and Godzilla. NEXT PRODUCT PLEASE
