Frieren is a shonen. So is Komi can't communicate or Spy Family. While I'm ahead, Ruri Dragon (which people will talk about since Kyo Ani is doing the anime) is also a shonen. Not everything under the shonen demographic is a "battle shonen". That isn't to say those also don't lose most of their appeal when you aren't a teenager (especially the school RomComs) but it's essentially the same shit; comics with mass appeal whose target demographic are kids/teenagers. The mass appeal part is important because that is why 90% of discussion you see online will be shonen shit; battle or not.

The world would be a better place if more people read seinen or josei books but as much as we try to deny it, we're social by nature. We want in on the latest popular thing or to at least be kind of knowledgeable on it. That's why you get people who will read or watch JJK/Kimetsu and seethe about it online endlessly. Even I'm guilty of it since I've read both to completion despite not being a big fan of either. If I were to say Houseki Kuni or Lovely Complex are fucking garbage no one would care outside of maybe 1 neckbeard and a handful of tumblr schizos. We just have to accept we suffer by choice.
At least in the west, shonen is exclusively referring to battle/game shonen. Even if technically it's on shonen jump, which is probably read by more adults than children.

If you want to be philosophical about it, shonen is defined by being very clear cut good guys vs bad guys, with the good guys prevailing through friendship and hard work. It is very idealized and game like. Yu-Gi-Oh is a shonen, but Frieren isn't.

The whole discourse has become mega gay, it's gay to watch people beat each other up and it's gay to watch sexy women. Seemingly the only non gay anime according to right wing influencers is watching two men engage in sex.

shonen is defined by being very clear cut good guys vs bad guys, […] Yu-Gi-Oh is a shonen
You know nothing of Yugioh. Yugi’s response to being a bullied kid is by becoming a mass murderer whose victims are occasionally worse than he. Trying to philosophize over market demographics is intellectual masturbation. Who is the target market for the magazine? Boys under 16? Then it is Shonen, simple as.

Early Yu-Gi-Oh is a whole different beast than Duelist Kingdom and afterwards, which is what 99.99% of people know and immediately think about.

Let's me fair, that's quite an exaggeration. Yami Yugi only actually killed like two guys I think and they both totally deserved it (the escaped death row convict who got set on fire and the kid that got his soul eaten by a cursed board he forced Yugi to play with him) and a couple unconfirmed maybes (the bully who ate a face of nitroglycerin and the guy who got stung by his pet scorpion). Most of his punishments were just mental attacks like going blind because you can only see in mosaics or hallucinating being trapped in a dark, silent box for a day or the multiple people he made experience vivid hallucinations of being murdered, or sometimes non-fatal injuries like the bully who got his eardrums blown out or the thugs who got electrocuted by a stun gun, or just the occasional public humiliation.

Super no Ura de Yani Suu Futar just got released. All twelve episodes at once. I hate it when they do that.
According to /a/, this batch is the first six episodes split into "mini-episodes". When it begins airing on Jap broadcast, it'll switch to full-length episodes and air all twelve over the course of the month. As the episodes air, the mini-episodes will be replaced with the full-length episodes on streaming. So in short, this batch release is only the first half of the season. Incredibly schizophrenic schedule to say the least. No idea why the nips are starting to pull shit like this with new releases.

It probably turned out the best out of the three pillars just by simple virtue that it ended and instead of milking it right away, the author chose to fix the last arc (in the anime).
There was literally a bunch of sequel/midquel novels immediately after it ended on top of the fact that Burn the Witch is a sequel that started in 2018 two years after the series ended and already has a movie and a TV special despite only having two volumes out since 2019. Also what "fixing"? The only thing the anime added was a mostly pointless reveal of the former Gotei 13 as if people were dying to see these characters that never hinted at before everything else has been exactly the same and the collective reaction of people realizing why the last arc sucked so hard dawned on everyone and the hype died.

One series announced a movie immediately when the final chapter released and then a manga based off said movie not even a year later and then an entire new anime based off said manga based off said movie, again, not even a year later. (While also releasing novels)
The other series released it's final chapter, the author released another short story (which isn't a sequel. Yes it takes place in the same universe. ) and there are maybe 2 novels in between that 2 year gap period. The original anime ended in 2012 before the manga finished and it just started back in 2022.
The last one of the trio isn't even finished yet and probably won't be for another 5 years.

If you just wanted to bitch about Bleach you could have done so without quoting me and being wrong. Now you just look like a disgruntled Narutard.

Última edición:
IBO is a decent Gundam when you compare with shit like Age and Reconguista. I don't understand the divide IBO causes with fans.
Nah its garbage. Its not even a good "rise and fall" story because we never see our heroes do anything reprehensible to warrant such a dour ending it just comes off as a big fuck you to the audience who actually cared.

Nigga your retarded ass is saying the same shit I am. The novels are an excuse to fill in the gaps Kubo was too lazy to put into the actual story and a few do take place after the events of the story. The point is that he never stopped Bleach because he kept making new material up until the sequel which got a movie and a special after two volumes.

No it was CANCELED due to low ratings and the fact that people stopped caring about Bleach.

Nothing I stated was wrong though. YOU claimed that after Bleach ended there was nothing until the anime's return which is objectively wrong. Once again Bleachfags remain the most insecure of the Big 3 fanbases going on 20+ years in counting and they continue to endlessly cope when everyone else has moved on.

Oh my god he really is a narutard.

If you seriously think releasing a few novels after a series ends is even remotely similar to desperately trying to make a sequel series (an actual sequel, not something that just takes place on the same universe like BTW) then you seriously need to hop off Kishimoto's tiny nippon dicku.
Kubo is not going to fuck you man no matter how much you sweep for him.
