Anime/Manga - Discuss Japanese cartoons and comics here; NO CULTURE WAR DOOMPOSTING!
None of the top nu shounen artists has cited it as a influence. Now the current big dog of shounen slop Kagurabachi has the author blatantly state that Naruto was his biggest influence. Bleach itself was also a ripoff of Saint Seiya so it wasn't breaking new ground to begin with.
War in the Pocket has it deliberate thoroughline to the events leading up to its tragic outcome and most importantly have you care about the characters involved with it. IBO is the opposite there's no careful plotting leading to the eventually comeuppance of the cast it just basically happens due to a series of unfortunate circumstances so its not even a good "downfall" story because none of the characters really do much of anything thats morally unjust and the villain of the story basically just walks away with everything so the only message you can get from the story is "never try and the system will always fuck you in the end".

I personally can't say that I gave it a proper chance but I did watch several episodes of it on CN or something and it never grabbed me. From what I watched I thought Shaman King did the "stand-users but for kids instead of closeted homosexuals" gimmick better although that one got bogged down hard when it got to the world Shaman gathering tournament arc thing.
Except Alfred. From a narrative perspective he's written very well and his character does a good job getting across the point the show wanted to get across, but an annoying little kid is still an annoying little kid which I think detracted from the show. It's a tough thing though, if he's any older you can't get away with that innocence and naivety of childhood that his character is meant to have, so it's also possible he was supposed to be kinda annoying in the first place. NT-1 Alex is still one of the best Gundam designs of all time and I'll throw hands over it.
Yea, and I totally get that perspective. It can be refreshing that a kid is actually acting like a kid in an anime but I'm just personally not a fan of annoying child characters in the first place. They're my least favorite characters in 0079 and Zeta, too.
At least Katz did the decent thing and fucking died at the end of Zeta.
Hokuto no Ken, obviously. The OG show, not the remake. It's considered a shonen.
As for Gundam Space Africa Orphans, one thing that pulled me out of the show is the blatantly anime looks: You have this "war is bad, child-soldiers are terrible, our robots kill their pilots because veteran pilots are for chumps, etc.", and yet, the child-soldiers all have multi-colored, anime-esque hair that feels out of place (doubly so considering classic Gundam was rather tame regarding hair colors). Oh, and most of these allegedly mistreated child-soldiers have abs, kek.
Here's mine: Fullmetal Alchemist, Majin Tantei Nougami Neuro, Yu-Gi-Oh!, Rurouni Kenshin, Yu Yu Hakusho, Muhyo & Roji's Bureau of Supernatural Investigation, Dragon Ball, and Zatch Bell/Gash Bell. Add Pokemon Special and Kakugo no Susume (Apocalypse Zero) if you think those count.
If we talking shounen manga in general and not just shounen action/battle manga, then add Bobobo-bo Bo-bobo and Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei for comedies.
I really love that someone else knows Majin Tantei exists. That was such a good story for a Jump title. All the other ones you listed are great as well (but I still need to finish Zetsubo, maybe when I get some vacation time.)
The only thing being molested are my notifications due to you not fucking off. You would think Kubo himself bankai'd your girlfriend's pussy with how irrational you're being. You have proven post after post that you don't care about facts and just want to seethe about someone acknowledging something you don't like in a positive light. Regardless, I'll give you one more response. It's unfortunate that we're already off to a horrible start with this quote:
Let's pretend for a second that this point has anything to do with what I'm talking about: Kiwis, common sense time. Are you surprised a manga that has been going on since 1997 (and is still ongoing) surpassed a series that ended in 2016 in sales? Are you also surprised that after the other two big series in the US ended that the literal last one became popular? My original post had nothing to do with sales, popularity or even quality, I was only speaking about accessibility (and maybe approachability might be a better term to use. Oh well) and influence. It is easier to get into Bleach than Naruto or One Piece, that is a fact. It is more accessible than Naruto or One Piece, that is a fact. It also extremely influential to newer shonen titles. All of these are actual facts not rooted in any bias but your comprehension skills are that of a Middle Schooler's, just like Jump's target audience. So, in the spirit of that, I will use pictures from here on out and hopefully you will actually learn something.

It's so funny how people online can be so confidently wrong about things they claim to be knowledgeable about. I'm a little upset my longest post will be about Bleach of all things but it is ok. I've already had my coffee.
This image probably looks like fanart to you but it is not. It is drawn by the My Hero artist for a "Jump Next Gen Battle Manga Award" contest they were holding for aspiring manga artists who desired to make a battle manga. The judges were Tabata (Black Clover), Gege (Jujutsu), Horikoshi (My Hero) and Tite Kubo. All three of those artists started serialization after Bleach, have gone on to be huge hits in the magazine and what else? They all cite Bleach as a major source of influence. Gege and Horikoshi specifically have interviews with Kubo himself that you can google (you're not going to) and find, Tabata is also a huge Bleach geek and even just skimming the manga you can tell.
The Demon Slayer author does not need to work ever again in their life and as such never does interviews, but back when they were active they cited Bleach as a major influence. Luckily some redditor (A Bleach fan of course lol) made this image that has individual quotes with sources if you want to follow them
It isn't like Naruto isn't influential either and it's extremely obvious to anyone Naruto and One Piece are 100% more popular than Bleach and most likely always will be but something doesn't have to be popular to be influential. There many shitty movies, comedians and comics that go on to inspire future generations for years to come despite their shittiness. Do you know how many legendary mangaka Fujimoto just created with how Chainsaw Man ended? Probably dozens bare minimum. Here's another picture for you to help you understand
(This is from a sales tracking twitter account but you can find multiple other more credible ones posting similar date from a few years back)
Your final stupid point was calling saying Bleach was a "rip-off" of Saint Seiya and that line of thinking is probably why you can't even stick to the subject matter without getting extremely upset and talking about other shit entirely unrelated. It also shows you don't understand how influence/inspiration works. In spirit of treating you like a middle schooler I have the perfect example to show you (I can't believe I'm thanking reddit but they really are useful for shit that doesn't matter)
"Wow. Kishimoto really ripped off Hunter x Hunter, what hack." is what an idiot would say unironically.
Creative works are all one big incestuous yin and yang circle. Everything feeds off each other especially things that are written to have a structured, standardized formula like manga magazines because of course they are. Suits want hits and they follow what has worked in the past which means using other works as a point of reference. That's before we even take into consideration the artists own life experience and personal taste. In my small circle that still cares about manga I always "joke" that Fujimoto is a hack because he stole everything from D. Gray-Man but made the story appeal to regular people, not fujoshi but that's my own personal headcanon and I wouldn't treat it as a fact. Still some people are just better at hiding things than others but it will always show in some way.
I'm actually grateful that you're a dumbass. I don't get to talk about this stuff really anymore so it was fun to re-educate myself. on the subject. That's about all I have to say though, so go ahead and make your response, get your likes and stop talking to me. Oh and to everyone else I apologize for the schizophrenic effort post. I will go back to making short posts after this, thank you

Im gonna let you in on a little secret; if something is more popular and sells more than by definition they're more accessible, the fact that a nearly 30 year old manga like manga like OP is still getting new readers to this day whereas Bleach despite having a new anime didn't move sales at all shows that you're full of shit.
All that image is just exerts from those mangaka interviewing Kubo and none of them cite Bleach as a major influence two of which list other series outside of Bleach. And to further knock this down look at this:
This is a cover spread where every mangaka running in jump that issue were to draw their favorite character/series or the one that inspired you the most notice something missing? But don't worry somebody had Ichigo as a favorite way in the back....the series got canceled something very much in common with Bleach.
Since we're posting sales charts now
And before you start another cope post saying this happens all the time
This is embarrassing. Clearly Bleach wasn't the most influential manga of the nu-gen that much is certain but to pretend that everything it did was unique to itself is profoundly retarded hence why I brought up that Bleach stole from one of the most influential manga of the 80s, Soul Society is literally just the Sanctuary arc, Kubo admitted that the Zanpaktou were directly influenced by the cloth boxes the Saints wore etc its no big fucking deal since every shounen title is derivative from one another but you being a Bleachfag have to make a competition out of everything.
Bleach was amazing for the Soul Society arc and then immediately jumped the shark. That arc is at least worth watching but it suffers from the classic Shonen series problem where the author has precisely one idea when he starts writing, blows his entire load immediately to get that one good idea out of the way early, and then is completely bankrupt for the rest of the series until cancellation mercy kills it.
One Piece is a bit of an anomaly in that nothing ever happens but people still read it out of FOMO and sunk cost.
