Final Fantasy XIV - Kiwi Free Company

At least on NA.

I haven't a scooby what the EU and JP communities are like.
From prior discourse in other places, IIRC, EU is a bit lighter on the faggotry that permeates NA XIV, but it's still there. And then there's the French. Everybody hates the French, because the French somehow manage to be both worse players than your average Balmung/Crystal shitter, and they act twice as entitled.

JP, on the other hand, is apparently a paradise – possibly due to the language barrier – and they operate on different, somewhat more patient standards than the rest of the world. And it is highly advised for nobody on NA to go transferring to JP Data Centers out of fear of shitting things up for everyone else.

I started out on jp servers, bunch of folks did that started up during the 2.0 launch back in 2013. When running dungeons? Yes, heaven. Sure, you'll run into a bad player from time to time, but it's rare. It isn't like on NA where most of the time you get dps that are pants on head retarded or just lazy. Shit gets crushed. Eventually folks started going back to the NA servers. The ones that remained were Aussies and Singapore english speaking players, who are closer to JP servers anyways.

Always had a bit of latency but it got worse over time, and when my work schedule changed to something more normal.... well, with the time difference, more often than not when I got on to play, other folks were asleep, which made certain duty queues unbearable, doubly so if you were a dps. And of course, pug raiding with the japanese was difficult because I damn sure didn't learn the language.

Of all the MMOs I have played, FFXIV has the worst community by far, in a very weird way.
There are communities that are outright "toxic" like WoW, but because they are so open about it, you know what to expect and even have fun if you match it, but FFXIV is filled with faggots and passive aggressive retards, sociopaths that will put on a façade of niceness and rainbows, just to drop it and tear you apart when its convenient.

I think I said this before, a "sanitized" game only brings the worst out of people.

It's probably the worst gaming community period for me. There's no other game I can think of that rivals FFXIV's toxicity. If people want to see what Sodom looked like before God burned it to the ground, this game is probably the best image.
I'd rather take old school xbox live / Vanilla WoW Barrens chat over the heavily moderated shit like this. It just makes things so much worse when everything so over moderated.

Touch wood, but being one of the aussies on the JP server, it's pretty good. There's really not enough of us to shit anything up, and I think people implicitly understand the community is very small and you can't get rid of any shit you start.

I would have joined you, but my online acquaintances are mostly in NA. And FFXIV is just slow enough that it's no issue even in high end raids. So in Crystal my main stayed.

With luck, the upcoming cross-DC visits means I can hang out with my homies in Aussie without needing to kill myself on the MSQ on an alt.

JP got their own cases of drama like this one guy who's an asshole towards others got his hangout spots swarmed by naked bald roegadyns (now that I think about it, they just literally pulled a Pool's Closed on him). Though one thing I find interesting is they have their own codes; they have something called a Take-Leave system where you're in a raid and you all decide which items to claim, you pick one and only one and then you gtfo immediately. Staying longer than necessary is frowned on.

Their unspecificed rules apply mostly to the raiding scene, they are pretty uptight and expect you to follow it to the letter or be excommunicated from it.
But they seem to be chill in every other aspect.

Also, you are talking about "ハゲルガ祭り" (Hageruga Matsuri) which refers to a “festival” where huge amounts of male Roegadyns in bald, pale, white skin and going naked, in a group doing large scale “protests”. This weird occasion was done mainly to punish someone, forcing the player to delete their character for his, or her wrongdoing.

ハゲル (禿げる) means going bald.
Hageruga matsuri can also be translated as Bald Roe’s festival.

For the record, I was commenting on the English speaking communities on Kujata and Tonberry. Not Jp-speaking community.

So are RPers still getting shoahed or what's going on? This drama has only lasted two days?
No idea actually.

I've been too busy getting mad at expert crafts to pay attemtion anymore.

Goddamn steady still fails me all the time.

Last I checked it was yesterday, and by that I mean skimmed through it. It's been noted by a few of them that it appears to be the work of a renegade GM, not all of them, and some other GMs apologized for the mess or some shit. So we'll see what happens. Really wasn't expecting to get rid of them that easily regardless, unfortunately.

Renegade GM, huh? Might explain why people are getting banned left and right for no reason.

That's gay.

I thought the degeneracy was finally going to be regulated.

To be fair, the GM's whole conversation was detailed in a reddit post, and it was just a warning. From what I heard, only a few people were actually affected.

The problem is that the RP community immediately screamed bloody murder and shit the bed.

Remember back in the old days when these degenerates had to hang out in some inn near a starting zone and the occasional new player came in and went "Oh my god...." and started having second thoughts?

Do they not still do that in the Quicksand? Because it was still a thing on Mateus just 3 years ago or less.

Update: Ive finally hit the F2P level cap with My Summoner/Scholar and finished the MSQ for HS proper. Thinking about getting all the available classes I can to level 60 and I am definitely going to do the Binding coil of Bahamut before i do the Post-HS MSQ since I've been told it actually has some prevalence to the plot. Otherwise I've been enjoying this so far. Maybe a little too much since it's kinda eating too much time into things I SHOULD be doing
