What makes me curious isn't the voice direction or the graphical changes. It's the weird little details.
The engine, for example. If I follow people correctly, it's what, Unreal trying to work with Blam! because Unreal can't essentially make a Halo shooter feel right. So it's a kludge of insanity already.
Animations. Apparently they're almost all recycled: Elites use Reach animations, Flood use Halo 3 animations, Brutes half-use old animations or flat-out do not have animations for some things (staggering, for example). Vehicles re-use logic from Reach. The animations for "new" weapons are re-used or simply flat-out unfinished. Cutscenes feel completely disconnected from gameplay and are pre-rendered (so probably the province of a different team altogether). Enemies sometimes get stuck in level geometry or the animations bug out.
Some levels show some changes (Library is kinda sorta completely new) and others show some attempts at rebalancing, others are unchanged. Incoherent at best. The new levels feel like someone tried randomly to do a level pack with a half-justified excuse.
It all feels off and unfinished, like it's some kind of fan-made mod. But this isn't a fan-made mod, this is presumably a flagship product: so why does it feel like it was built with minimal budget, minimal resources and weirdo prioritization? Halo Infinite was 2021, five years are a lot of time. What are those niggas, jeets and Viets doing?
