IMO this feeds into the theory that the prequel was repurposed from a scrapped DLC campaign for Infinite. Williams was probably meant to be a "replacement" for Johnson [In the same vein as The Weapon/Joy being a replacement Cortana] with the whole thing presumably taking place on that unidentified covenant cruiser seen floating around Zeta Halo's skybox. Also, did the story need another balls to the wall swinging dick? Johnson's already that, the overly stereotyped sergeant, and Stacker frankly helps overstuff the trope, establishes it as 'normal' among the marines. You'd think they'd want to give her an actually interesting trait as opposed to sloppy seconds.
The monologuing Prophet cutscene is infamous by now, but I just realized they gave him vitiligo lmao.

She's not in the books, not that I recall either. When I say her men, I mean the branch, not literally that she was the sergeant that stuck 'em in the ring and all. The books had their own cast of ODST's in the whole fob survivors arc on the ring parallel to chiefs journey, kinda surprised they didn't bring them in. Feel like I recall a good female character being either an ODST or an officer there. Fuck, now that I think of it, I swear that female character also killed the Truth and Reconcilliation before it could take off, on the half-flood Jenkins request at that point too.And this sounds like a retcon. I've read The Fall of Reach and don't remember her at all.
Between being just another remake and no multiplayer, I knew it'd be weak, but this is genuinely rough. I can hear Asha lubing up the Brute Dildo for 'em right now, they're gonna get spikefucked over this.So decided to look at the three peaks for the game and yeah, it's looking grim.
You're thinking of Melissa McKay. She was the first Lieutenant for the Pillar of Autumns ODST detachment in Halo: The Flood. She was a pretty good character all things considered. She was also the executive officer to the Spartan hating Major Silva.I recall a good female character being either an ODST or an officer there
The demon thing is especially bad since like you said they don't start calling Spartans Demons until Chief turns Installation 04 into slagI feel like basic shit like the OC Donutsteel Prophet calling Chief "demon" before the events of Halo CE and Chief catching and throwing back a sticky grenade is the kind of stuff you should be able to catch before launch.
To be fair, the Prophets have a small gene pool and bit of an inbreeding problem….The monologuing Prophet cutscene is infamous by now, but I just realized they gave him vitiligo lmao.

I changed my mind about waiting for the weekend to make a judgement on player numbers. This is looking pretty brutal. So decided to look at the three peaks for the game and yeah, it's looking grim.
Early access:

Launch Peak:

Yesterday's Peak:

Between launch and yesterday the game has had a 32% decrease in players at least on steam.
Waiting for the weekend is generally a fine policy to have for games that don't have early access periods. Marathon as an example didn't have a 4 day early access launch. So waiting a week after it's launch to see how it's actually doing is a fine thing to advocate for. But when a game has an early access launch you can kind of get a gauge for how popular it is or will be. The fact that the game only saw an increase of 5,000 players between early access peak and launch peak is fucking sad. That's a 26% increase, and definitely not what Microsoft wants.I changed my mind about waiting for the weekend to make a judgement on player numbers. This is looking pretty brutal.
Single player games are a bit different from multiplayer too because they’re easier to pick up on a weekday and you don’t really have to wait for other players to trickle in. Still though, releasing what’s supposed to be a blockbuster title on a Tuesday morning is a pretty weird choice.Waiting for the weekend is generally a fine policy to have for games that don't have early access periods. Someone on Twitter, though I can't find the tweet. Pointed out that a halo game being #24 most popular on Xbox, on its release week, when NOTHING else has released in the same timeframe to poach players is just fucking sad.Single player games are a bit different from multiplayer too because they’re easier to pick up on a weekday and you don’t really have to wait for other players to trickle in. Got to check those diversity boxes somehow! The monologuing Prophet cutscene is infamous by now, but I just realized they gave him vitiligo lmao.

That just goes to show how lazy 343 on top of everything else, if true.IMO this feeds into the theory that the prequel was repurposed from a scrapped DLC campaign for Infinite. Williams was probably meant to be a "replacement" for Johnson [In the same vein as The Weapon/Joy being a replacement Cortana] with the whole thing presumably taking place on that unidentified covenant cruiser seen floating around Zeta Halo's skybox.
I also theorize that in this original take, the Prophet of Harmony was going to be a delusional fuckwit who was trying to "restore" the covenant the way it used to be [Hence his anachronistically acting as though he already knew Chief and referring to him as the "Demon," while giving his out-of-character "diversity is our strength" speech.] and even going as far as capturing Banished Brutes and lobotomizing/mind-controlling them. [Hence the remote controlled Were-Banes he throws at Chief in this mission.]
Speaking of the books, I was thinking of finishing reading them at some point. I started reading a couple, but there is so many now that I can't keep up. Does anyone have a good infographic on which books to read in what chronological order? Also, which ones suck and should be avoided?(I assume most if not all 343 era ones). You're thinking of Melissa McKay. She was the first Lieutenant for the Pillar of Autumns ODST detachment in Halo: The Flood. She was a pretty good character all things considered. She was also the executive officer to the Spartan hating Major Silva.
And yeah she detonated a grenade to cripple the Truth and Reconciliation to prevent it from taking off and taking the Flood off world, since Silva wouldn't listen and thought Oni would reward him for bringing the highly infectious parasite to Earth.
Imagine being mogged by GTA 5, a 13 year old game at this point. lol, lmfao even.Someone on Twitter, though I can't find the tweet. Hell according to True Achievements or whatever they're called it's #12 which is still sad, it also apparently was behind Forza 6 if you compare launches. Though this was for last week.

Because Halo falls under NIH, and MS has a long, storied history of buying something that works well, and “Putting our stamp on it” by turning it to total shit.I have never seen a company hate their flagship franchise like Microsoft and Xbox do with Halo. Why? Why do they hate it so much that each game is more and more shit. Then, they have the gall to just shit on Master Chief who’s basically Xbox’s mascot.
They also just blatantly say it multiple times in the gamesThe Humans not being forerunner completely breaks the story of the games as Forerunners are needed to activate the rings. That's why they needed Master Chief, Keyes or Johnson. Humans are forerunner, if not the rings serve absolutely no threat. Once the Covenant find out that they need Humans to activate the ring for their holy journey we get Halo 2 and 3. Retconning that deletes the backbone of the story and you are left with two warring factions unleashing a cosmic horror. Fine but remember how they are dealt with at the end of 3?
Generally read release order. But if you wanted to do chronological order you'd doSpeaking of the books, I was thinking of finishing reading them at some point. I heard that those gayass terminals in H3 were put in without the rest of the team knowing. Is it true?Like the other games are very blatant about it.
