Warhammer 40k

Resolving a 'major lore-defining conflict that will shape the Warhammer 40k story for years to come' with an indecisive draw is the most old-school Games Workshop move imaginable.

Something I've noticed with the infractor kit is that if you want to build it as two squads of 5 you can't have both the icon of excess and the sergeants fent juice vials. Is it a big deal if I don't have the icons?
There is a work around ive seen on reddit but i just built as 10 to avoid that issue. Once you expand your collection, you'll have squads of 10 anyway.

It took 5 editions, 15 years and a huge rules overhaul to actually implement the results of the eye of terror campaign for anyone who forgot.

The reddit mods were retarded, but 2 things can be true at the same time, guard can have a really strong specific list and have everything else be shit.
When I returned to hobby, I was building inf-guard (in part because cheap) only to see online that inf-guard was trash, until they won a tournament and were suddenly "the new meta" for about five minutes.

Some special hobby for you. Dug out my old Tau minis from 2008 (the bases say 2005, but I know I bought these after Dawn of War Dark Crusade). Some are WIP, but here's a couple of base coated ones. (ignore the humans, they are for another project, and sorry for the white balance flashbang)

Many of them aren't finished, the kroot in particular have a partial first coat. I was never a fan of the kroot and don't remember what I was going for colour wise. I like the blue colour scheme for Tau but I remember being sick of painting it.

I'm swamped with projects, but I don't know if I should try and finish some of these or leave them as a time capsule.

Haven't payed attention to 11th, but the new box with the terrain is tempting. Reminds me of 3rd edition.

Never tell a woman how much you make nor how much you spend, dear God don't do it.
Painted a Space Marine Apothecary for a friend; hopefully it doesn't look too terrible.

Good enough for a gift, if I had a friend paint me something I'd be ecstatic.
So from the latest battle report seems like it ended up in a stalemate, but we did get two new detachment rules for both sides
Imperator Unleashed actually sounds pretty good. If anyone wants to look at the rest, sounds like the Blood Angels get new ways to rape Orks with Orksbane as well. Speaking of which, I smell scouting Trukks. Also how well would it work with the Green Tide detachment?

Armageddon: season of fire (the brand new book that camr out like a month ago) Fucking Sucks. For reference I finished Devestation of Baal in 2 days, and the dark imperium trilogy in less than a week. The plot is fucking retarded and offers no insight into Armageddon besides "it sucks". The author, jude whateverhernameis, wrote a book entirely about the hard choices of warfare, as if the entire setting didnt include that. Pyrrich victories are a staple of the setting as is making terrible decisions for the right reasons. The book doesnt even do it well. All of the 'decisions' the characters make are back-asswards retarded. I wont spoil the book because its frankly impossible to spoil. The plot makes no fucking sense, its basically 3 short stories loosely connected by plot threads that are paper thin.

The pacing is also fucked. It seems like shit just happens and its so frantic, not because action, but because of contrivence.

Book of Martyrs (which I just listened to recently, its very good if you like Sisters), does this better and is just way better written.

Read book of Martyrs. Fuck, read Return to Cadia (the one about ursakur creed's daughter). Either are way better.

Considering that the Skitarii have enough numbers to have multiple armies and specialists, I'm not so sure, but then again the IG has a ridiculous number of available men that should let them win any battle by attrition alone.
Another important thing about the skitarii legions is that the Mechanicus was/is a mini empire existing within the imperium. They cooperate, but the mechanicus gets up to stuff that they don't tell the wider imperium about. The guard defends and acts in the interest of imperial worlds but the skitarii only take orders from the forge worlds.

There's a reason the Eagle on the Imperiums flag is two headed, it's supposed to represent the union between Earth and Mars. With Mars being an equal partner in that union.

When people point out that the Admech are screwing over the Imperium constantly, it's not because they're just some random science cultists that refuse to advance, they are. But they are legally distinct from the Imperium and can, will and have been little shits when it comes to dealing with the Imperium.

It's why I have said constantly that Mars should have been fully annexed after the Heresy instead of returned to the semi-independent status quo.

There are plenty of novels and games that show the Admech fucking with shit that they shouldn't be dealing with. Armageddon exists because they couldn't leave ork tech alone and teleported Ulinor away to hide that they were experimenting with xeno tech. Space Marine 2 has the Admech constantly talking down to the Marines and experimenting with shit they shouldn't be and so on.

Sounds pretty typical for books for release of a new edition. No matter who writes them, they're usually the most generic trash in black library because they read like someone trying to make a book out of the character descriptions on the back of GI Joe action figure packages.

I think it was an imperial victory until the ultramarine reveal and honestly im partial to GW doing that on purpose to write off a draw lol

Just finished the Horus Heresy + Siege of Terra books. Started listening to Ashes of Imperium and got blindsided by the random Femstodes they decided to put in. I look forward to when they just call that one a warp anomaly like when they fucked up the Magnus/Istvaan timeline in The Outcast Dead.

Kinda ironic that despite how much the Imperium is depicted as totalitarian, it's in practice incredibly stratified.

The Admech would have probably been annexed if either the Emperor or Malcador survived the heresy. But post heresy things were way too dire to risk another civil war.

No bitch, stay the fuck out.
Pretends she couldn't ever get into painting anything because... reasons, and then couldn't get into 40k because now she has a kid as if there aren't parents who paint minis, especially her being able to just sit around at home anyway. This is the same as the people who claimed the evil chud nerds at school never let them play D&D or whatever... when they simply were never actually interested in it in the slightest because nothing would have stopped them from actually trying to play with their supposed friends.

Now of course the reality is that it's purely a grift to market her upcoming kickstarter for her bullshit movie. Doesn't change how absurd it is though.

So I'm going my first RTT at my LGS, and I'm looking through the roster of players and their lists. Of the 12 players, there are 5 Purge the foe lists, and I'm pretty sure there are going to be more than that. My Ork Take and Hold is gonna have a rough time of it XD
