Iran Crisis & the 2026 War between Iran and the United States, Gulf States, and Israel - Please focus on news and coverage, not argumentation.

I see people write shit about Vietnam and I roll my eyes and think that they just don't know what they are talking about. Then they ask how a bridge is militarily important and it really makes me realize all over again that there are people with very loud opinions that simply have no concept of what's happening.

the numbers aren't looking good for him, you know.
The moment you look at polling by party you learn how partisan support or disapproval of this is. The Dems being pissy about this is neither surprising or a matter of concern, they were going to be disapproving of anything Trump did anyway.

Republicans, and especially his base, are overwhelmingly supportive.

Who says this? the media? You either don't vote at all or you back your team. If any Republican is swayed to side with Newsom, or AOC from their shower thoughts, they deserve the rope. People who sit on the fence or can't decide are ignorant idiots.
The media vs who I talked to is extreme for me TBH. Most of the people I meet don't want war in general but if the president thinks this war is needed then fine. I've always been dreading the inevitable war with China vs Taiwan because at least where I live its more "when" then "if" so when the Iran war popped off I just pray the civilians don't get too hurt. Modern fucking news is slop fear mongering.

Ironically its the Europeans that auto hate this war. I've met a pole who is vehemently anti-war and only hates trump right now due to the war. The Pole also hated the Venezuela Churro the Maduro so I can't get too mad at him. He remembers the soviet times.

Trump wants an off-ramp just as much as the Iranians do, if there was an opportunity for a ceasefire, he would have taken it ASAP, there's a reason he's been "truthing" about negotiations for the past few weeks.

The longer this war goes on, the more unpopular his administration becomes; even more than it already is, the United States was defeated in Vietnam because the political will back home ran out before the North Vietnamese broke, and that war took 11 years.

The people in this thread are completely disregarding the power domestic politics has over the ultimate outcome of the war, as if the only thing that matters is raw military power, theoretically, yes, the United States CAN bomb every last bit of Iran's military assets to the point they are effectively neutralized for decades, but how long will that take?, how much taxpayer money will go to the DoD and the contractors before that is done?, are there enough Americans willing to accept that much devotion of time and resources in nother war in the Middle East?
Joey, you ignorant slut, your pinko-Commie pseudo-knowledgable Reddit-tier concern-troll doomerism is as dumb as a retard's poetry written in birdshit and Hindi. The United States military is pounding Iran harder than your Mom likes it on Friday nights, and you keep explaining, stupidly, how ac-tu-ally :smug: winning is losing.

It is too late for you now, for as you can see I have already drawn you as the soyjak. This is the fate you chose, BigJoey41X. Enjoy prison. :tomlinson:

One thing I don't get about a subset of Americans, they think a president can solve all their problems, while completely ignoring the state policies that actually give them the shit sandwich they have to eat daily.

It's like some fuck in Baltimore crying about Iran and Trump fucking his shit up while he's basically some unemployed illiterate who voted for *insert useless black guy* to give him more free shit and blow all the federal funding. How can Trump help this guy?

The rescue operation sounds like something some ancient historian would've pulled out of his ass to make the story more epic. Like Caesar building two sets of walls when he was surrounded by all sides at the Siege of Alesia or Alexander making a bridge on the sea to assault the island of Tyre.
Iran gets a lucky hit on an aging F15. It stays together long enough for both pilots to eject safely. One is rescued quickly. The other, with whatever equipment was in his ejection seat, hoofs it up a mountain while an entire country is hunting for him, knowing that if he's captured he's going to be tortured on live TV. Things aren't looking good as aircraft involved in the SAR are hit and destroyed.

Meanwhile, US special forces infiltrate said enemy country, build a base and begin their rescue operation. Under the cover of US aerial bombardment, the SF boys manage to find the pilot and exfiltrate him. But no! The enemy forces find them and the rescue team engages in a firefight while heavily outnumbered. Despite this, they take no casualties while inflicting many on the enemy.

All seems well, until they see, to their horror, that their rescue craft have been bogged down in the sand. All hope seems lost. But to everyone's surprise the president who has been decried as a heartless and greedy dictator, says fuck it and orders more planes flown in to get the soldiers out, proving that he believes men are more valuable than machines. As one last fuck you, the Deltas scuttle the two broken planes, preventing the enemy from capturing them, even denying them the pleasure of destroying the planes themselves.

Add in some AC-130s raining hate, maybe a few A10's going brrrrt, and some jerky cameras during the firefight, some ostentatious explosions, and you'll have an easy Michael Bay movie.

Lean more into realism and you can go Act Of Valor.

People are usually fine with war if its quick, decisive and doesn't disrupt their lives on a personal level, when was the last time you heard of people bitching about the US invasion of Panama or Grenada?

This war is looking more and more like a long, painful attritional one, with major global implications on trade and energy.

We know MAGA will always be secure on his side(look at this thread), but what I am talking about are the moderates, the same swing voters that led Trump into the second term, and could destroy him in the midterms.

If you're tired of hearing about the midterms, I'm sorry, but elections are still happening back home while this conflict is happening

Forgive me for asking questions, I'm not the most knowledgeable about the intricacies of military strategy, I'm more familiar about the economic and geopolitical backgrounds of warfare.

I also didn't say they WEREN'T militarily important, I know all infrastructure is important for logistics, I was asking why they are particularly important compared to other forms of infrastructure.

Don't forget this doofus who somehow managed to kick enough ass for Sabaton to write a song about him.

Wound up failing in the end, but boy did he have one hell of a go taking on most of Europe at once.
The modern revisionist likes to say Judas Maccabeus was a genocidal maniac, but they never tell you about Antiochus Epiphanes.
When these happenings were reported to the king, he thought that Judea was in revolt. Raging like a wild animal, he set out from Egypt and took Jerusalem by storm. He ordered his soldiers to cut down without mercy those whom they met and to slay those who took refuge in their houses. There was a massacre of young and old, a killing of women and children, a slaughter of virgins and infants. In the space of three days, eighty thousand were lost, forty thousand meeting a violent death, and the same number being sold into slavery.
Lovely person, that Antiochus Epiphanes.

They just destroyed the Rafale F5 program. The UAE was funding it but they backed out after France sided with Iran at the UN.
Do you have a source on that? I need some hearty laughs.
F-35 chads continue to win bigly.

Can't we just gaslight them into thinking there's a final chapter in the Quran that tells them something like "When the Great Satan tries to take the holy land all of the soldiers of the holy land must put thy weapons in there mouths and fire upon yourself in name of Allah.".
You idiot! What is wrong with you?! Have you not seen how badly the US is getting its clocked cleaned by Iran with only the leadership engaging in strategic martyrdom? How the fuck would US forces ever be able to cope with strategic martyrdom across all ranks? We'll never recover from a blow like that.

I was chatting with a German friend of mine earlier and he was baffled by the operation despite finding it respectable. I think for a lot of Euros it's just hard to compute the concept of losing a couple hundred millions in equipment like that. But I broke the numbers down for him and explained how those two planes we blew up ourselves on the way out only accounted for less than one percent of the money we spent on equipment procurement in 2025, and that our procurement budget alone, not even our total military budget, is higher than Germany's entire military budget.
That was too much effort. There's a much more simple way.
Just tell your German friend "Look, we view our pilots as if they were Muslims applying for Asylum" and he'll get it.

Looks like unconfirmed reports are saying that Mojtaba might be dead.....again.

I'm not sure how trustworthy this new information is if its him he was likely in a coma or severely mentally impaired from previous airstrikes. If its not him then who?
Mossad deployed a remote detonated explosive Bussy.

I'm not sure why Bridges are particularly significant military targets as explicitly mentioned by Trump, I mean, yeah, Bridges are useful in military logistics, but so are roads, railroads, airfields, or basically every single piece of transport infrastructure ever.
I know you are a retarded thread shitter but you fucked up and ask a good question so I'll give a serious answer:

The reason is that bridges are dual-use, civilians use them directly for travel, indirectly for civilian logistics including moving food into cities as well. Up to this point, the US & Jews have avoided targeting bridges due to the effects it would have on civilians and civilian logistics. Same with power plants - we could have plunged the country into darkness Day 1 but it was decided to not level the country off the bat.

Bridges require (expensive) replacements, its not like a hole in the road you can drive around or fill with gravel. any bridges hit are likely to be out of commission for a long time. So that is why he's calling it Bridge and Powerplant day, he's threatening to hit the dual-use targets he's been avoiding.

The domino theory was basically right, without military containment communism spread everywhere it touched. Vietnam fell then Laos and Cambodia too. China fell then so did Korea and later Vietnam. Communism is an ideology that thrives in exporting itself. Letting Cuba fester lead to a lot of left wing governments in South America over the years.
The domino theory was correct, but what US planners didn't take into consideration was instead of joining together under a ComIntern Greater Asia Co-Prosperty Sphere, the they instead immediately began infighting with other, bad Slants over there.

Could the "Praise be to Allah" line in Trump's tweet be one of his overly cute little hints that KSA and the UAE are planning to join the party on Bridge and Power day? They've been warning the Iranians to knock off their shit for weeks now...
I've posted about this before but:
Source: I knew a guy who trained Arab airforce pilots.
Evidence: Kuwait pilot has scored the only AtA kills against US.

Arab pilots besides Jordanians are dogshit and more likely to be a danger to friendly forces than the enemy. They are not letting the Arabs even run a PR sortie because the Iranian airspace is still too dangerous to risk it.
Basically while the US is running operations do not expect any military operation by the GCC.

a hospital source told The Media Line that [Mojtaba Khamenei] remains in a medical intensive care unit at an underground location ... one of his arms is completely incapacitated, and at least one of his legs is paralyzed ... surgeries ... have been unable to save it ... he has suffered spinal cord lesions, a dislocated jaw, along with brain injuries and extensive trauma to the head and face

Wonder how that works legally for them. Can they vote to replace their grand Ayatollah? Do they need to MAID him? Keep him around till he passes? Is he even a legitimate one given how I don't think the mullahs actually met up for the "vote". Seems the iranian governmental structure failed it's first stress test.

French source so they're biased and blaming it on a tech sharing agreement falling through but that's likely just an excuse:

Rafale F5 financing: how France angered the United Arab Emirates

Michel Cabirol
Published on April 2, 2026 at 04:00 AM

1775452657799.png

France had offered the United Arab Emirates a share of the Rafale F5 development costs in exchange for funding the program. However, Abu Dhabi ultimately ended up footing the bill without receiving any technological benefits. The break was finalized at the end of December. As a result, France will finance the Rafale F5 alone as part of the updated military spending law.

The crisis between France and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) ended several weeks ago, but it left its mark. Not between Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed and Emmanuel Macron, who have always held each other in high esteem, but their relationship had cooled in late December following the French president's visit to Abu Dhabi . With the situation in the Middle East, particularly the conflict in Iran, the relationship between the two countries, bound by defense agreements, has finally been restored thanks to the reliability and credibility demonstrated by Paris towards its Emirati partner by providing very concrete assistance, notably with the French Rafale fighter jets.

French Air Force pilots are doing an excellent job in Emirati airspace, neutralizing Iranian Shahed drones, in particular, which are striking the United Arab Emirates, located opposite Iran. The two countries are separated only by the Persian Gulf and are 55 km apart at the Strait of Hormuz. That's very little. And France, unlike many other European countries, provides concrete support to the UAE, which is very grateful, as well as to Qatar, which also has defense agreements with Paris.

The UAE will not finance the Rafale F5

The crisis has primarily left its mark on the defense budget, which will remain severely constrained despite the upcoming recapitalization of the military programming law (€36 billion). The updated military programming law is scheduled to be examined by the Council of Ministers on April 8th, following its review this week by the Council of State. What crisis are we talking about exactly? The financing of the Rafale F5. At France's request, the UAE was prepared to finance the new standard of the fighter jet until the end of last year, to the tune of €3.5 billion, out of a total cost of approximately €5 billion that, as of the end of December, still remained to be secured.

After several months of deadlock in 2025 regarding the financing of the Rafale F5 fighter jet, Emmanuel Macron's visit to Abu Dhabi was intended to clarify the two countries' expectations for the development of this cutting-edge technology-enhanced program. This was a point of great interest to the Emiratis, who are avid adopters of new technologies. Ultimately, the French president had to listen to the lengthy criticisms of Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed, who was furious about the French proposals on this matter. The meeting between the two heads of state went very badly, as France and the UAE were clearly not on the same page.

To finance the Rafale F5, the Emiratis wanted to be as closely involved as possible in the development of the French fighter jet. The French, for their part, were not prepared to share the secrets of this development, particularly in optronics, after having considered it. Based on this observation and a suspicion of French arrogance, the UAE decided they would not foot the bill without receiving anything in return. Highly irritated by the way this shaky affair was unfolding, Emmanuel Macron relayed his frustration to the Ministry of the Armed Forces, specifically the Directorate General of Armaments (DGA) and the Joint Staff (EMA).

"Spreading jam on toast"

The conclusion of this story is that the Ministry of the Armed Forces must finance this bill alone as part of the updated Military Programming Law (LPM), resulting in what a source within the Ministry explains is "spreading the buck." This clearly means that the financing of the Rafale F5 will be stretched out over time, with deliveries of Rafales upgraded to the F5 standard delayed. This is a long-standing practice within the armed forces to compensate for budget shortfalls.

Emirati funding would have allowed France to reduce the size of its "blanket" (too many programs relative to its budget) and also to confirm certain bets made regarding programmatic cooperation (SCAF, Rafale F5, Eurodrone, etc.) in the preparation of the 2024-2030 Military Programming Law (LPM). For over a month, the war in Iran has largely overshadowed this unfortunate episode, and France's support for the UAE has restored a temporarily damaged trust between the two countries. Several sources interviewed believe that it is also not certain that the UAE will return to the negotiating table to participate in the financing of the Rafale F5 after 2027.

And despite the additional €36 billion compared to the adopted Military Programming Law (€413 billion), this remains too little or insufficient given the new needs that have arisen with international crises. The sample-based model of French armed forces capabilities is crumbling in the face of the harsh reality of high-intensity conflicts, as illustrated by the overuse of MICA air-to-air missiles in the United Arab Emirates. Defined in 2013, the current armed forces structure was established within the framework of a different world, that of a prosperous globalization. History has swept it away. However, according to our information, the recapitalization of the Military Programming Law will not translate into an increase in force size either.

I believe he's mistaken that the reasoning was because of the UN shenanigans, the UAE pulled funding before the decision even took place and said it was because they wanted access to some of frances tech themselves but France was refusing to share. Though Frances move at the UN will surely just make the issues worse they don't seem to be the reason for the decision.

I never said that we are militarily losing right now, looking at what's currently happening on the ground and on the skies, Iran is naturally in the backfoot, with their air spaces more or less practically open to any American or Israeli airstrike of their choosing, and a lot of the leadership being currently six feet under.

I can't definitively say that until the war is over.
If all we wanted is to give Iran a very large black eye, then yeah, I guess, even if that doesn't achieve that much long-term strategic value.
If we can stop them from blocking the strait, that would be good for everyone in, US victory.
If we permanently cease their nuclear program, or set them back to the starting point, US victory.
If we completely, and totally destroy their military to the point they can't even fire anything anymore to the other countries, US victory.
If we got them to negotiate a ceasefire with them having to shell out concessions related to any of the points I mentioned above, that would be an American victory.

The reason I look like I'm "Doomering" is because I'm a realist who doesn't just want to circlejerk all the time on how awesome and cool we are and how weak the other side is, recognizing what are our weaknesses and pitfalls is important to finding an actual, geopolitically important W.

I actually would like to see Iran get defeated, and it would hurt China and Russia too in the long run, but if we don't achieve any of the possible goals above, I won't start coping and bitching that we were the true winners.

...and now they're downplaying the latest death rumour as I type this
