I don't know what this is, but A Story of the Forest: Mavka (1980) comes highly recommended from me if you're into that style of ethereal Soviet art film.

People have probably recommended it before, but I will recommend Taskmaster.
It's a fun British game show where five participants (usually UK comedians) come on and have to perform tasks to win each episode.
The person with the most points at the end of the season becomes the champion. There have been three Champion of Champions episodes as well as some special New Years episodes.
I don't believe it's ever been fixed although some comedians probably play it up for comedic effect.
It's genuinely funny and worth watching. And it's all on Youtube.

I saw George Clooney's The Boys in the Boat recently and I enjoyed it a lot. It's about the University of Washington crew team that played in the 1936 Olympics in Berlin for the United States. The cast played their characters well and had strong chemistry. It has this cheesily earnest 'aw shucks' American sensibility to it that doesn't really come out often anymore. It's also surprisingly unpozzed for a modern Hollywood production. I was shocked that there wasn't even a moment where they pause the story to remind the audience that the Nazis were antisemitic when the team goes to Berlin.

Did a quick search for Whiplash (2014) and got no hits. Well that's my recommendation, it's my favorite film of all time.
If I have to sell it to someone, well it has a lot of aspects that'd interest a wide range of people. Most people who are artists or musicians would probably like it (unless you're one of those types). People who generally view themselves as pragmatic or perfectionists would probably be able to have an easy time resonating with the story. Other than that, I found the character writing and dialog to be phenomenal.
As for cinephile aspects...
Storyboarding is as unsubtle as it gets, which I find charming, but I understand if it's not most people's cup of tea. On a cinematography scale, it executes the parts that are meant to get your blood thumping well, but you shouldn't expect more than that.

A few dollars more (1965) is one of, if not the finest western's ever made.
That obviously goes for the rest of the dollars trilogy but this one is the peak in my opinion. ( watch this after "Good the bad and the ugly" and "fistful of dollars". Perfect finisher and chronologically correct.)
You just dont get better then this, The pacing, the music, the acting, the duel. Everything comes together in a heartfelt package. This is the film that brought Lee Van Cleef stardom and resurrected his career. It's not hard to see why, he absolutely steals the show.
I love clint, always will, but Lee is just magnetic. When he shows up he says a thousand words without saying anything in his own way and just looks so kickass. I really dont want to spoil it, but seeing Lee play a heroic role was amazing. im so used to him being the bad guy it really rocked my socks off. You want to see an absolute piece of filth get taken on by the best partnership in the west you wont be disappointed.
When it was over I wanted more, so I dug deep into Lee's filmography. I was not disappointed.
The Grand duel (1972)
Dam fine movie. Flabbergasted it has a lower rating then the movies below it.
The music is so excellent kill bill stole it, the pacing is top notch and Lee delivers. When the film starts he confidently walks into a bad situation. It's such a clusterfuck and with so little to gain, your on the edge trying to figure out what he's doing. The first half of the picture is great as your trying to understand his motivations , but the second half excels in properly introducing the villains, and boy are they an iconic family of assholes. If you want to imagine this as another bittersweet adventure for colonel mortimer you could not go better. The co lead is pretty cool too, he's super acrobatic for a western and it's surprising he's a one hit wonder.
My only real compliant is that while there is nudity in it, there's also a pointless lingering shot of a naked kid in the street. For once Im glad I was watching the youtube version.
The big gundown (1967)
A solid picture. Lee is tasked with taking down a spic accused of killing and raping a kid. Things take an unexpected turn when he decides to capture him for the reward money instead of just plugging him.
This was a fun ride. A little predictable and the co lead is eh, but It was entertaining seeing all the detours it made before the final. The last duel lives up to the title and is kino shit.
Sabata (1969)
Fuck yes.
Imagine if colonel mortimer maxed out all his stats, tricked out his guns and decided to steal money from crazy evil people with a circus possie. That's sabata baby. Just LISTEN to this bitchin catchy soundtrack.
Where the fuck do I begin? Oh yeah the movies above are unarguably better, but if you want a great popcorn west movie you cant go wrong with this. Lee Forms a crew of a drunken hobo, a confederate banjo gun player, and a white guy circus acrobat (who is pretending to be an indian) to go rob a British aristocrat with suits of armor and elaborate traps in the middle of the desert. Have I mentioned this movie plays everything completely straight? Oh its tongue and cheek sure, but I am convinced from the bottom of my heart that Hideo Kojima religiously studied how to rip the tone off for metal gear, its that kind of movie.
The sequel Return of Sabata (1971) is even better.
It has quite possibly the most insane opening sequence ive ever seen for a western. So trippy and wild I had to double check i was watching the right movie. Ironically despite the opening, its actually a bit tighter and more conventional this time around. Lee gets to team up with most of his old possie again to go steal gold from an absolute madman leprechaun of an Irishman. The ham and cheese on this guy when he loses his shit is great.
If you want to see Lee dominate the shit out of the bad guys and be as awesome as possible, you've come to the right place.
(What's weird is this is technically part of a trilogy with the character, but they couldn't get lee for the second one So they got yul brynner. I gotta watch that one of these days.)

Lee straddles the line between good and bad in this one, as an old criminal that enlists the aid of a young man neglected and abused by his peers to go take over a corrupt town.
This one was fine, It's one of those movies were the narrative trys to get you to lean one way against a character and you dont buy it for a second. It's fun to watch how it progresses, but it's hard to buy Lee as the bad guy in this situation when EVERYONE else is a corrupt piece of crap or stupid. Arguably gives it a sort of tragic feeling if you look at it that way.
Your enjoyment of the movie will be affected by how much you like the Co lead who has more focus then lee. He's kinda of a lowcow in the beginning before he notices his talent as a gunslinger. I was hoping he would put in a more insane performance but they dont really go far enough with him.
Has quite possibly the coolest wild west gambling casino I've ever seen.
One final movie I watched but cannot recommend is Gods Gun (1976)
You have a perfect formula, Jack palance as the hammy villian and Lee Van Cleef as an agent of god. Plenty of fun ideas and interesting cinematography.
This is a fascinating example of a movie that fails because of pacing so bad it brings down everything good with it.
its about a town preacher attempting to scare off jack and his gang... right before they shoot him dead. Then, we gotta spend an agonizing amount of time with a (thankfully mute) kid as he walks his ass all the way to mexico looking for cleef's identical twin brother to go save the town.
Lee finally comes back in the last.... 20 mins or so to NONVIOLENTLY attempt to solve the problem. It doesnt work, but conveniently Jacks gang gets killed from fright, in-fighting and the townsfolk finally having enough of this shit. Totally get what they were going for, but the script and pacing did not make it work. It needed a dark satire edge but was played completely straight. I will say the final duel is actually pretty cool, The movie didnt fucking earn it, but at least they got one good scene in there.
I had fun with it, but its only good if your a huge jack palance fan or want a film study in what not to do when making a western. Also there's a rotoscoped flashback of lee talking to himself that I was impressed with for the time.

Tamil films are often great over the top nonsense. Two particularly insane Tamil films I can recommend are 'I' (2015) and '2.0' (2018). The former is a batshit mental retelling of beauty and the beast, and I don't even know how to begin to describe 2.0 - there's a Robot played by an ageing Tamil star, and he fights a giant bird made of millions of mobile phones. I think it was the sequel to a film I never saw, but that didn't stop it being an enjoyable wild, wild ride. Both films star Amy Jackson, who's hot AF too.

I downloaded 2.0 after extreme difficulty tracking it down (was only able to find it when I started searching for the first movie). I don't even know how hard it will be to find 'I'.

RRR should be easy to get. It has a few over the top moments, and reinforces my theory that Indian male friendship is indistinguishable from homosexuality. Should be easy to find.
Baaz (2021) is on youtube, I haven't watched it yet, but I've heard good things.

Recently uploaded to Tubi, it's action choreographer Kensuke Sonomura’s second film as director, Bad City, a scrappy crime thriller/action throwback to the days of "V-Cinema" which became a catch-all term for the straight-to-video films that flourished in Japan during the 1990s, a lot of genre fare, action, horror, etc. made on tight budgets and even tighter schedules, and where various stars and directors got their start. The grizzled actor Hitoshi Ozawa, whose resume includes around 200 V-cinema titles and lots of theatrical releases, stars as Makoto Torada, a former detective in the fictional, crime-ridden Kaiko City. He was accused of murdering the son of "Madame", queenpin of the local Korean mafia and was sent to prison. Now, a prosecutor has sprung him temporarily to lead a special unit of cops to bring down local business magnate Wataru Gojo (Lily Franky who had just weaseled out of serious corruption charges. Gojo has announced he intends to run for mayor, all part of he and his underworld partners' plans. Torada and his three recruits will end up going through some seriously scrappy, slippery, frentic brawling to get the job done. going up against gangsters including Tak Sakaguchi as a knife-wielding killer who literally dodges bullets.

speaking of WW2 I gotta recommend Where eagles Dare. (1968)
Bonna fide classic. Richard burton and Clint eastwood have to storm a medieval castle filled with nazis to accomplish a classified objective.
I really love this movie. It's not a standard shoot em up. The nazis are not idiots and you really get the sense that if our hero's didnt have total surprise and a shit ton of planning on their side they would be screwed. Every step feels like an inch away from disaster.
Richard Burton totally steals the show. I came for clint eastwood and stayed for his amazing sherlockian performance. This guy totally sells the idea that he's completely memorized the layout of the base and the EXACT time he needs to be to do something and set bombs. He's straight up playing commando sherlock homes and Clint is his machine gun toting watson. It's fucking fantastic.
Lot of great practical explosions and effects. Also educational, the nazis had helicopters in WW2, no bullshit.
(It didnt look like something that came out of the 70's but they were real)
You cant go wrong with this if your looking for a good time.
Helreach (2019)
A bunch of space crusaders defend a city named Helreach on a planet called Armageddon from a violent horde of aliens.
Its a free fanmade Gmod movie adaptation of a novel, but the production quality and cinematography is pretty dang impressive.
The plot is simple, what elevates it is the excellent narration and pretty interesting character interactions in the face of certain death. I liked how it It starts out a very sketchlike grainy black and white in peacetime and gradually gets more and more clean and colorful as the battle starts.
It's pretty great if your a 40k fan, but even if your not, anybody who's a fan of dark and somewhat depressing movies would enjoy.
Final Fantasy 7 Advent children Complete ( Directors cut released 2009,)
This is 100 percent me shilling for the movie theater showing on Feb 21 and 22, but I really would like to share my basic thoughts on this movie.
When I first saw this way back, I barely knew the context of anything going on. It's a sequel to a big ass game and there are loads of contextless characters and weird shit. But there was something that really drew me to this movie even before I played the games and figured it all out.
When you look past all the crazy fights, insane Japanese shit and characters, this story does something ive never seen before. It's a depressed superman movie. you've got this guy named cloud, who saved the world, can cut buildings in half and has a great family, but his guilt and lack of self worth utterly haunts him. We are talking about a dude who unknowingly killed a shit ton of innocent people when he went up against an corrupt government, lost his best friend, his love, lives in a decimated world and totally blames himself for it.
When you break it all down, this is a movie about a depressed hero learning to overcome himself, move on from his sins and accept happiness. That was very compelling and interesting to me.
I recommend it, even if you barely know wtf is going on you'll be entertained by the pretty imagery, the personal story and the batshit fights.
