One thing I've noticed he talked about when he mentioned turning 40 soon which is a thing he'll probably play up is his newly gotten wisdom. Now to be fair, he's far from the first and certainly not the last loser stuck at level 1 in life who thinks "wisdom" means that people should listen to him just because he has survived enough years on this godforsaken planet. The difference though is that old farts at least wait until they've survived 60 years before they start browbeating you about their wisdom and their cringeworthy "back in my day" boomer stories.

I think that is a lofty number based on some of his last marathons. He will get a handful of larger tips from some regulars and from some "unknowns", but I think today will be par for the course otherwise. I'd be surprised if he clears $500.

Phil starts blubbering about how he had it so hard and how he has persevered through all the bullshit, then you hear a knock at the door and he goes to grab the slice of german chocolate cake that Kat left on the floor in front of his door. He takes a bite and winces because the sugar from the frosting makes his teeth hurt. He attempts to smile and say how much he loves the cake, but can't get the words out behind the grunts and moans of pain. Of course, this is all after his doordash order comes and Phil complains for ten minutes about how the driver didn't go directly from the restaurant to his front door and now the food is slightly cooler than it could have been. Agreed, his definition of marathon is what a lot of young dudes do twice a weekend. When I was a younger my friends and I would spend all summer putting in fucking 8 hour league sessions every other day. And we sure as hell didn't make 6 figs to do it
