Shen Yun generates a lot of money for Falun Gong that gets used to fund its own advertising and Falun Gong's PR (like through the Epoch Times). Despite their wacky beliefs, they manage their image well enough there's definitely people in high places happy to back them up so they have more things to criticize China for.
Interesting side note: for the first few years of its existence, Falun Gong was actually in good standing with the CCP, apparently even having an offer from the government to be promoted as part of the state-led qigong movement:

Chinese culture is so autistically obsessed with the concept of saving face, I wouldn't be surprised if this slight is what set the CCP off in deciding Falun Gong was the group they had to eradicate.

Indeed comrade, I took the liberty of requesting it to be moved outside of PG alongside my Greek Lolcow Thread, now that Chairman Moon finally added the prefixes. Welcome back.

The only thing left to do is fix the title on this thread and remove the flag, and then get this and the Greek thread pinned since they're general discussion threads.

Their entire platform is CPC bad. Back during those massive earthquakes in Sichuan, there were videos of them cheering and claiming it's divine punishment to the CPC (ignoring the fact that most casualties were just ordinary citizens) which really soured many expatriates. I used to feel somewhat sympathetic to what happened to them but after that bullshit, nah. They can rot with the average corrupted party member for all I care. Westoid sites would label China's state-controlled media which is a good start, I hope they do the same with Falungong's hundreds upon hundreds of bullshit outlets.

By the way, this is what Chinese corruption looks like.
Those in power of this literally fucking where town have all been charged, but it's a few years too late. This is one of the poorest regions in China, do they need a stadium that easily rivals that of Shanghai and a university city so opulent? Who the fuck is going to move there for studies? Lots of the nasty headlines about Christians (like removing crosses from churches and cathedrals) being persecuted comes from these shitty corners where local politicians are trying to play favours with their provincial government for more gibs to line their Swiss bank accounts.
They're rodents, here's something positive for a change.

Great article - I'd love more on Falon Gong and their chicanery. I didn't know Shen Yun is basically their recruitment tool. The show gets shilled up and down the East Coast of the US and I had no idea (until now) that it was connected to Falon Gong, or that the Epoch Times is connected to it all. Very informative and the content is lulzy.

Weird that it gets so much advertisement in places like NYC despite the anti-gay stance.

IIRC, one method of marketing Chinese cars is for Chinese automakers to shower money to influencers, and make them sign contracts that state that they cannot speak negatively about their cars. Do some of those influencers advertising Chinese cars in ways that would be considered Lolcow behavior, or do the influencers have to appear sane so that they don't piss off the Chinese automakers that are sponsoring them?

Can only think of one person fitting that bill but she doesn't do car ads I think. She is a horrendus looking orgre that the japanese wouldn't even rape and she has an army of simps because she blows it all on streamer life because "Streaming is where the money is" 钱和市场在短视频. Can't recall the name though, I'll have to ask a few friends because I refuse to use TikTok.
 
The "China is doomed in two more weeks" YouTubers would definitely qualify as lolcows.
