You Know What Grinds My Gears? - Things that personally piss you off

Something that pisses me off to no end are absolutely pointless questions.

I'm not talking like "what is your favorite color"or some shit, I mean questions that can be answered by just reading a tiny bit into the past of a conversation, or opening google and typing the same thing or some shit.
And when enough people start Reddit threads to ask these questions instead of just Googling, the answer ironically becomes harder to find because the first google result is a Reddit thread where the consensus answer is “just google it.”

It's been said a million times, but internet censorship. Arguing with people on the Internet is great, but on basically any social media other than here and 4chan the inability to call someone a faggot retard nigger makes things infinitely worse. Shitflinging in YouTube comments used to be fun and now if you say anything too mean it'll be removed.
And I don't think it'll ever get better.

The DMV. Where do I fucking start? You go in for a simple change of address, I'm waiting a whole hour to have my ticket READ to go up. Tickets go from A, B, F, I, C for no logical reason.
I was at the DMV the other day and they had armed security there and the dude had a serpa holster. Which if you don't know is a retention holster so that somebody can't just grab the gun out of it. But to disengage the retention, you use your trigger finger to push a button on the side which has become a meme because people have shot themselves drawing their guns out of those holsters. They are often banned by instructors for that very reason. Now on top of this he also had a very bad duty belt and his gun was sagging in the holster and pointed directly against his thigh. The perfect storm.

Otherwise it went pretty smoothly. Maybe DMVs just need more armed men there. I largely blame such long wait times on these non English speakers who sit there and act like you just asked them to solve a math problem when asked for their address.

I thought we left this kind of embarrassing weeaboo shit in the early 2000s
Sorry to piggyback off this but I saw this on the front page of TVTropes and immediately thought of your post:

Sadly 4chan janitors are banning for racism outside of /b/ and "off topic" which sometimes means the janitor disagreed with you.

Thread tax: People who rant about their husbands/wives nonstop. It's not even the playful kind of teasing it's like "FUCK HIM/HER! I DONT KNOW WHY I MARRIED THEM. THEY ALWAYS FUCK UP." It gets uncomfortable real fast.

Worse still I find is the prevalent usage in car enthusiast circles of "togue". It's called a fucking MOUNTAIN ROAD! You don't need a Japanese word to say mountain road, the Japanese neither invented mountains nor roads.

It's so you don't mad at how long you waste there because going from B-37 to I-19 makes no sense, but A-22 to A-27 is somewhat quantifiable.
I think part of it in the bigger offices is that they have people who specialize in specific types.

I was there once because DMV fucked up. Not like I fucked up and blamed DMV, they 100% fucked up and admitted it on the phone and told me I had to go to the office. I get there and tell the number lady what was going on and she gave me one of the letters that weren't being served. I was seen almost immediately. I'm pretty sure I got pushed to the front of the the "We fucked up" queue.

Note: finding out 2 years later the state you moved to cancelled the drivers license they JUST GAVE YOU because you had an out of state license, that you gave them and they punched a hole in when they issued the new one, is considered a 100% DMV fuck up. Luckily I kept the previous license, "so, do you have proof we punched a hole in your previous state license" "yes, here it is, see the hole". And they also fucked up one of the vehicles title I brought with me, didn't find that out until I traded it in years later.

It's a pretty autistic one, but I hate when people insert punctuation and stuff to make what they're typing sound more like speech, especially when it's something like "did... did XYZ just happen?" or "Is... is he saying that XYZ?"
Not autistic at all IMO, from my perspective this got popular ~10 years ago (maybe with shows like Rick and Morty popularizing natural-sounding dialogue? I could be misattributing that) and I am shocked that people still do it. I cringe every time I read it.

It reminded me of another one that drives me up the wall: "You *DO* realize that ____, right?" -- especially when the ____ is something not at all obvious or well-known.

It is trivially easy to reword this in a way that that doesn't make you look like a condescending prick, so it amazes me that people use this (not just on the internet where most people writing comments are smug assholes, but in normal real life conversations too)

>It's so cold here!
>I hate how cold it is!
>No one is nice to me unlike the south
>Back home, people would actually ask me how I was doing
>Everyone up north is mean
>There's no Christians.

Then go back to your shithole hovel in Tennessee. We don't dislike you because you are from the southeast, we dislike you because you can't stop gossiping about the tiniest things. Plus we told you about Catholic and Orthodox communities, but you shrieked "THOSE AREN'T REAL CHRISTIANS", especially in front of one of your catholic coworkers. If that makes me a the rude Yankee stereotype, then I will gladly take it. I cannot stand people who move somewhere, refuse to adapt, and cry about it constantly.

The whole snitches get stitches mentality where it's a bad thing to call the police to deal with illegal actions. I know people do not like told one for doing something bad, but that's how people learn. But, you shouldn't go out of your way to harass people.

"well ackshually back then you paid more for things if you take inflation in mind, so stop complaining and pay the exorbitant prices for the stuff you want, inflation means it's cheaper than ever now!" :smug:

I hate how where I live, you can't go straight to the DMV for something like a car registration. You have to go to some random county treasurer's office who calls themselves the car treasurer to make themselves sound fucking special for that. So that's another hassle, plus, they can't even give a straight answer to most of the questions you ask. It always has to be some puzzle that they themselves create before finally getting around to a half-ass answer. The DMV here is only good for licenses it seems like. So we have two offices that handle almost everything car-related, but somehow can't handle registrations.

Oh my God, car registration. I had to get a car registered from out of state. The DMV gave me shit about the title not being "certified" and having to reinspect the car at THIS location. WHY?

Unfortunately, the "stitches" are doled out by the police now. If they even show up.

Police.

(Disclosure: I'm white, so I haven't had too many issues with them.)

1. Don't actually prevent crime.
2. Were subject to their whims. Oh you don't want to issue a simple ticket for thay basic traffic violation, high school grad? I guess I'll just go fuck myself then.
3. We can't issue tickets in lieu of their delinquency.
4. Small issues generally lead to larger issues. Police dgaf about small issues, which why we still have big issues.
5. They mostly joined for the clout. I never wanted to be an officer, but I cab see the appeal of walking around all day, armed to the gills, along with immunity if you fuck something up. Thing is, most of us aren't cautious around police because we respect the badge; we deal with police like dealing with an elephant in musth because they have about the same intelligence, levels of rage, and can ruin your day without too much effort. That's not a game many want to play.
6. They get discounts everywhere, including gun shops. Like, police already get access to firearms the general public cantt and now they save money on arming up even more? Give me a break.
7. Internal investigations. I don't have to go into this too much.
8. Picking on the wrong group. Do police ticket noisy vehicles (non-commercial trucks, cars, etc.)? No! What do they do? Sit by the road during rush hour with their radar gun out, looking to ticket people which just want to fucking get home after a long day and maybe not hit every red light on the way there.
9. Get paid way too much to do nothe. Probably take kickbacks, too, among other rackets they have in play.

So, this is defund the police. Even traffic units of police operations don't want to deal with day-to-day traffic violations. Pretty funny, right?

Fuck those pigs.

If you're a cop reading this, go fuck yourself, too.

I'm not gonna lie, I am tempted to complain.
You should've fought harder to WFH. (If you can do your job remotely, I mean.)

If you can do your work off-site and want to and your company won't let you, they don't care about you. (Well, that last part is a given.)

If you "need to get out of the house," go to a library, coffee shop, workspace, etc., once or twice a week.

Also, work friends don't care about you and will throw you under the bus, if needed. You (likely) won't speak with them much if you leave the company, anyway, so why buy into whatever "culture" BS HR is shoving down your throat? The only corporate culture is hating bosses and your commute.

(PS - Did you get a pay hike for the cost of commuting? No? Tsk tsk.)

Then, when your back to WFH, you can make your abode smell however you want!

I'm fully in support of anyone who has the ability to do their job from home have the right to do so, however that is not the case with my work, and to be honest I prefer a job that lets me get exercise.

My job by necessity involves physical labor, so that is out of the question.

At the moment I am taking steps on my own to fix this problem in a roundabout way, and if I'm questioned about it I'm confident that my superiors would accommodate me.

I don't recall actually making any references to the culture at my work or my friends there. The "culture" at my work is as would expect full of woke nonsense, but that's not really something that affects my work.

As for my work friends, I'm very particular about who I call a friend, as a result I only have one. We get along great, I trust them implicitly and they are a joy to work with. Everyone else I either hate their guts or am ambivalent towards.

Well...this is something I've seen probably twice. "Additional tips". So there is an Asian restaurant and a seafood restaurant I've ordered food from before. You'd think that giving them their tip online would be the end of it and they would fuck off. Well, nope. They still have the gall to give you a receipt to sign along with a "tip" option DESPITE the fact that you've already tipped them online. The Asian restaurant I brushed off, but the seafood restaurant with the "Additional" tip option just felt like a kick to the dick. Talk about shameless.
