I feel you bro. I thought to give STALKER Anomaly a shot about a year ago, I ended up with 250ish mods, with various workarounds for bugs/CTD issues. At some point I wasn't even playing the game anymore, it was just an eternal mod sorting/fixing grind.
Check out GAMMA, it's self contained and uses a pretty simple installer, but I get if you would just want to pick and choose. GAMMA does allow you to turn mods on or off and configure them as well however.

I put an insane amount of time into DayZ when it was just a mod for Arma II. The game/mod was buggy and nearly unplayable for years, and it got worse when they pulled resources to work on the standalone title. The zombie game craze had basically come and gone by the time it got released, and it was just as fucked up as the Arma II version. People still play it today so I guess they added something worthwhile to it, but it was countless hours of doing absolutely nothing under stress inducing conditions. It's almost embarrassing to look back and think of how much time it wasted.

Listen I love Toontown Rewritten and Corp Clash--but the grind in the former even now is still retarded. Not going to happen but the TTR team needs to revamp how leveling up cog suits work. The grind for them is beyond ridiculous with little to no reward by the time all your gags are maxed out.

Rust, the entire game.

I haven't played in over 2 years but I have around 4500 hours clocked on Steam. It is the most maximally addictive shit ever with the responsibilities of a full-time job. I was such a autistic faggot tryhard at it too. When I wasn't playing the game I was on Battlefield or aimtrain servers (I don't even like FPSes)

Almost all of the free time I had back when I was in high school went to playing this stupid ass game lol.

It's possibly the most fun and unhealthy game ever made. I don't know of a single game where you can just wake up, log on, and all your shit is gone overnight. Or have people messaging you at 4 in the morning to get on and yelling at you the next day because you were sleeping while you were getting offlined.

Rust has a mechanic called "wipes" which correspond to updates of the game, meaning that absolutely nothing is persistence and everything you do is usually for that wipe only and every server resets on a specific interval (sometimes a week, sometimes a few weeks).

The entire game is a sisyphean task, but instead of pushing a rock up a hill you are beating people to death with it.

PSA: Dark Moon Blade is NOT worth the grind bros :lossmanjack:

Like a dragon ishin! 100%. If you're unaware, the achievement requires getting every piece of equipment in the game which isn't the worst thing until near the end where there are rare materials required. How do you get rare materials? By running dungeons! Specifically these higher end ones need the dragon fang, whisker, or claw (or something like that) and you might get one of each doing the late game dungeons, but you need like five of each.

Dungeons are a sort of contained long battle (in Yakuza fashion, an environment you run around and beat people up in). You get materials from killing enemies or finding boxes to smash. The dragon stuff is most lucratively from the final boss of the whole shebang and while his dungeon isn't long since he's the main attraction, you are not guaranteed any of those materials. I must have ran it 30+ times. Don't forget you also need money to craft these weapons too! (The dungeons at least give some as well)

BUT WAIT! THERE'S MORE! As part of the achievements to get the all achievements trophy/steam achievement an entry includes discovering every weapon/armor seal. These are small buffs that can appear on equipment when smithed. Each item has a small set of options and they're random, and seeded. People worked out how it works and a seal appears every sixth (or something like that) smithed item. So you Smith a bunch of garbage, save, and then try for the one you want. If it's not the one you want, say the item can give A B or C and you need C, but get A, you gotta go round again. If you reload your save and smith it again you'll always get A for that attempt.

The menuing fucking sucks and is annoying as hell and the amount of time and money wasted buying junk weapons to smith to cycle these is a lesson in monotony. Still did it though. There are mods to make the material grind simpler at least but I had something to prove. I had to prove I was a retard.

Most traditional jrpgs are just grinding for cutscenes
FFX probably being an example of grinding for shit.

Though I will counter with, Chrono Trigger having basically no grinding. It's incredibly well paced, and is just the perfect 2D adventure from start to finish. But what else would you expect from a game with multiple legends working on it in collaboration.

the entire elder scrolls online progression system
>spend literal years researching traits
>6 months of daily logins per character to upgrade mount
>intentionally slow and repetitive leveling
>alternatively pay hundreds of dollars to get everything instantly
absolute niggers at zenimax

Digimon World 4. Every Digimon needs seperate leveling to get their stats up to where you can competently use the different weapons, which then need grinding to raise their seperate stat table. Which drops back to zero across the board when you digivolve.

You're also expected to just keep grinding everything forever, as all the unlockables (new digi-evolutions, weapons, missions) are locked behind playing new game+ at higher and higher difficulties that leave your god killing ass suddenly a bottomed out noob on a fresh start each time you watch the credits.

The classic grind is the Dragon Warrior I NES grind. Anything more grindy is a no-go for me.

Want to talk about grinds? I got a pretty insane one. Obtaining the King Dumpling in Siralim Ultimate. If you have the patience to tackle a grind like that, then God have mercy on your soul if you want to 100% the game.
