There was a 99? Maybe I forgot. I only remember the first sequel in 94. The one with the mud. It was on MTV. I was 14 and thought it was amusing to watch. My mom said it was horrible. I was too young to know the difference or care.

Woodstock ‘99 was just them trying to relive the days of Jimi Hendrix playing the national anthem on his guitar. Instead, his ghost was replaced by the nu-metal/horrorcore rap scene that is currently being replaced by pop rap and K-Pop on TikTok.

Nu-metal (and ultimatly metal) was always the 'enemy' because it was the music of alienated trash its why a lot of people did in established scenes everything they could to bury it and fuck the fallout from undermining a counter culture renaisance . It's unsurprising that they'd try to shift the blame from the more obvious causes-you know heat,bad organisation and price gouging. Water should be freely available at festivals for the wellfare of visitors and security should be tight.

Before the WuFlu hit, there was supposed to be a Woodstock 2020 with Miley Cyrus as the headlining act, but they cancelled it due to poor mismanagement IIRC. And then the pandemic more or less sealed the deal for preventing any attempts at doing it again.

The artists that have gone that route never really made it big, but have some sort of cult following such as Bad Brains, Fishbone and Living Colour. Well, Bad Brains were influential and had some great songs but their reggae/dub stuff isn't really for me.

The thing that people forget is that the original Woodstock was kind of a wild shitshow too. You want to talk about nostalgia and rose colored glasses? Woodstock is a perfect example of that.
Its just that everybody was stoned out of their damn minds and running around naked, shitting all over themselves, and making a goddamn mess. I'm sure to those that attended it was amazing but they were also burnouts, so yeah.

I wonder why. Why didn't any inspire Jimmie Hendrix's go any where? If we had more Jimmie Hendrix's years ago, I bet people like Cardi B wouldn't have happen (which would have been a good thing). I don't know i find Jimmie Hendrix neat and should have been a big trail blazer.

I can only speak from my experience, but it's mostly because of your environment. I was really into alternative and punk music in my teens. My folks joked about the way I dressed or the band shirts I wore, but they didn't mind too much. At school I'd get a lot of flack for listening to "that white boy shit" and I was called a "rocker" or "faggot" just for not being into rap and it definitely was alienating. It's easier to conform than to stand out.
