That's my problem with Vinny. He's the most boring, milquetoast person on the entire platform. Everything about him seems performative because the only genuine parts about him are literally the most mainstream, vanilla opinions. I hear my molars crack whenever he mentions The Beatles, Oasis, or anything about the 80s, its like he has a Reddit feed wired directly into his frontal lobe. Any time a piece of fiction that has the most basic, uninteresting middle aged white dude, it reminds me exactly of him. His whole schtick is "Look at me I'm just a guy, I hope nothing weird happens. Uh oh weird thing happens!" and all of his audience clapping their hands like seals because they find it funny to see a "normie" act uncomfortable and flustered. The rest of his fans are pooners that fantasize their ideal male relationship with him, or as someone to skinwalk because his entire persona is the most general, inoffensive, and simple to understand personality.
Normie streamer is a normie? Pull the other one! Next you're going to tell me that if I pour a glass of water onto my head I'll get water all over myself!

I might agree with you if I thought it was some kind of put-on, or if he was trying to be someone he isn't, but I don't think Vinny's acting. Moreover, I think Vinny being a normie is honestly pretty refreshing. It's nice to pick out a VOD and just watch a relatively normal motherfucker not be a titanic faggot for an hour or two. If I wanted to watch someone be loud and funny and retarded and act like a weirdo I'd just watch Joel. Or if I wanted to go even further and explore outside the normiesphere, I wouldn't be watching a twitch streamer to begin with.

I don't get this resentment I see basically every time I click on this thread. He's just some fucking guy! At least with RLM they're kind of douchebags, their takes on Star Wars can be dumb as shit, they keep inviting the same three guests on, and they treat their best buddy Jack Packard like some kind of medieval serf. But why the fuck should I be mad that Vinny thinks the Beatles are the best band ever instead of Niggers Tongued My Anus IV feat. GG Allin? Lots of people like the Beatles, so what?

Maybe it's because I've been around weird fuckers and have been a weird fucker all my life that being exposed to somebody who is blah is a novel experience for me. It's like having a plain old apple after eating nothing but processed shit your whole life.

To be fair, COVID messed with A LOT of people, and considering he's a New Yorker, he got it worse due to their stupid lock-down policies.
That's kind of the point I was making. NYC had a bunch of weird and pointless authoritarian rules that changed day by day. It would make anyone living there get discouraged and it showed in his streams

Joel did facecam last night and I was shocked to see people are being very normal about it. I was expecting a lot worse, seeing how parasocials used to harrass him for it for such a long time.

It does make revisiting past streams funny when he's praising and saying how deep or profound a show is and then with a few years of hindsight knowing it either turned to trash or literally no one cares about it anymore
Rick and Morty is all over his old MGSV playthrough and knowing what I know about how things turned out makes it 10x funnier. On a related note, the fact that I need to call a playthrough of MGSV "old" makes me feel old.
