I'm still not sure of what point he's trying to prove, though. Something must have happened that made him get so anal about this topic.

Harkening a guess he's not really making one so much as he's taking the piss out of the "AI BAD!" crowd with these hypotheticals and seeing if/where these types draw the line. However -- and this just is a schizo theory -- since Blade Runner's his favorite movie, I wouldn't put it past him to think AI may one day gain sentience and his argument is if the opposition will still seethe if it were to. I think you're right that he's mostly just miffed that he can't have fun with it anymore on stream lest he be labelled/marked as a trator regardless of any nuace he might have about it, considering a large portion of his fans are artists and bleeding heart libshits. The fun with AI stops because it's become a hot topic moral dilemma to be outraged about, so everyone's either on one extreme or the other depending on how you feel about the topic and he hates that type of shit.
