I can recommend a game like Ghosts 'n' Goblins that is fun to play: Ghosts 'n' Goblins

That's exactly what I don't want. I want something that improves on the old formula, or else I'd play the rom.

Besides Ghouls and Ghosts is way more fun than the first game.

Ghosts 'n' Goblins Resurrection is the most underrated and unfairly-maligned game of this millennium. Everybody who actually wanted a new GnG got what they paid for; everybody who wanted a guided tour of an IP they recognized by name went home crying. Goes to show it doesn't matter how finely-crafted a game is: if the cattle get frustrated, they'll user-review it the same as low effort shovelware. But those who know, know.

No. Just going past the fact that the art style is low effort butt flavored ass, it's exactly what people generally don't want in a "retro" title.

Maybe we're all spoilt little babies with our modern games but I want something that is fun to handle even if it is extremely difficult.

Jonathan Blow released a demo of his new sokoban puzzle game for the Steam Next Fest and it's fucking peak.
I've played around 2h of it so far, and there is probably half of the demo still left, and it's so well done, so much creativity on display.
Just the writing seems uninteresting, but it's easy to ignore.

Bit of an autistic complaint but is anyone else sick of cyberpunk-inspired games having these "death is life, war is peace, pee pee is the poo poo" random string of sentences lines?

Sprawl Zero's demo seems like an improvement over the predecessor.

They probably want to sound deep like the "fear is the mind-killer" speech from Dune or the self-contradictory slogans from 1984.

I want a cyberpunk game where the surprise ending is the corporate warlord state is the good guys and actually the common man really is just a filthy degenerate who deserves the boot of the tyrant.
I know this goes in the "games you wish existed" but there's at least a handful of games where you join the rebels after working for the fascist government, but I want a game where the "rebels" you join to fight the "fascists" are actually supplied by laundered funds from taxpayers and corporations, and you get the choose the ending, the good one where you reveal yourself to be a double agent who was collecting evidence to make lawful arrests and dismantle the entire organization, or join the rebels, where you can play the game a little longer but killed as they believe you're a liability. Each ending suggests that it was inevitably "betray or be betrayed".

The Sinking City 2 will be released sometime this summer. The graphics look a lot better than the previous game, the mosters in particular look a lot better. It’s by a small Ukrainian team called Frogwares. I like their games, they usually have some sort of investigative elements and puzzles in them.

I'm tentatively excited for it. The first one was janky as hell but it had heart to it and I ended up enjoying it. Release date is August 18th.

Picked up Sifu on sale. It’s the first time I’ve played one of these intentionally hard games or a game with roguelike elements, and I’m actually having a ton of fun. I’ve mostly been grinding out the first two levels trying to finish at lower and lower ages. It’s very gratifying how much I can feel myself improving at the game.

I've been playing Frogware games forever. I'm a Holmes and Lovcraft junkie so I'lll be excietd to see how the story goes. Glad they're still in business.

That looks really good. The quick video reminds me of an old game I could never finish called "The Adventures of Lolo." Maybe that's just the sleep dep talking.

That's pretty retarded but I agree Res overdid it. It's more mean-spirited on purpose than inelegantly clunky though. Shit like highlighting the "lose all my fucking progress" option as default when you die was definitely intentional, and gives you an idea of the mindset that went into the level design.
Which I admittedly didn't see much of because I got fed up with the fact that I was fighting the UI more than any goblins and/or ghosts.

Just getting to the last chapter of Luna Abyss and read today the entire team has been laid off by MS.

Its an interesting game and the fps take on bullet hell is certainly not entirely original, but I've not really seen it executed quite like this before.

Some of the environments are pretty cool and atmospheric. The pacing is a bit weird and some of the platforming is floaty and can be frustrating but I enjoyed it for the most part aside from some shitty boss fights. I dropped the difficulty for them, fuck em.

I had read somewhere about the game being all woke but I didn't really think it was particularly obvious, there's some weird gender bending voice acting type stuff but these characters are barely human so it doesn't seem that on the nose.
