They can in a roundabout fashion. You charge by the hour for working on the case, so long as you spend half an hour each day sorta structuring it and completing it you can, 'legitimately', expand the amount of time spent on it. The continuous extensions and sloppy filings -look- like doing that, extending the amount of time they have the file and the n submitting something very sub par once they can't kick the can farther.ok how are they bleeding the GFM if they were working other stuff though and not Vic's appeal? If they were working on other stuff then that would mean they couldn't bill Vic for that stuff, correct? or did I miss something and lawyers can charge a client daily even when not working on their case?
It's a 'death by inches'. Sure, its 'only' 350 dollars an hour. Every day. Over months and even years.
Now, neither I nor @AnOminous are saying this IS happening. What we are saying is that it provides the look of it happening. The look is unprofessional at best, and scummy as shit at worst.
