Victor Mignogna v. Funimation Productions, LLC, et al. (2019) - Vic's lawsuit against Funimation, VAs, and others, for over a million dollars.

ok how are they bleeding the GFM if they were working other stuff though and not Vic's appeal? If they were working on other stuff then that would mean they couldn't bill Vic for that stuff, correct? or did I miss something and lawyers can charge a client daily even when not working on their case?
They can in a roundabout fashion. You charge by the hour for working on the case, so long as you spend half an hour each day sorta structuring it and completing it you can, 'legitimately', expand the amount of time spent on it. The continuous extensions and sloppy filings -look- like doing that, extending the amount of time they have the file and the n submitting something very sub par once they can't kick the can farther.

It's a 'death by inches'. Sure, its 'only' 350 dollars an hour. Every day. Over months and even years.

Now, neither I nor @AnOminous are saying this IS happening. What we are saying is that it provides the look of it happening. The look is unprofessional at best, and scummy as shit at worst.

This thread has me smh and lol at the same time. Are we going to see some kiwis totally lose their shit before this is done? Also did somebody really go through a users post history to issue mati ratings?

Agreed. Kiwi's are already losing their shit. It's become quite polarized. I suppose that was an inevitability considering the fact that there have been no appreciable results, so everyone is stewing in this realm of BHBC's apparent incompetence and taking sides as to whether they've fucked this up, or not. (and yes, it appears some kiwi's are merc'ing posts. It has actually come to that ... )

Some of these niggers need a real hobby. If the appeal brief is shit then you fools can go crazy.

Yeah the delay sucks dick but at the end of the day they probably ran it through Vic and he agreed with it.

Ty talked a big game (again) about appeals and first thing they file in regards to actual appeal is an extension, consiering how last minute and sometimes sloppy their filing have been in the past I shouldn't be shocked but I honestly expected them to try this time.

As much as I don't like it, asking for an extension is only the second worst thing they could have done. Turning in anything resembling that TCPA filing would have been worse, so I'm hoping their late filing isn't also gay. The timing also suggests the return of An Lee Hsu from vacation may have something to do with the delay, which as reasons for a delay go, would border on reasonable.

>not mindlessly sucking BHBC's dick is losing your shit

Nope.

the last few pages of this thread reminds me of my nephew and his two special ed friends when they break out the paint and paper.

Knowing how con staff have been to this day, he'll have to fight for every single inch. Some might even commit perjury. They're that crazy, entitled and stupid. I wonder just how much they'll have to piss Chupp off before he starts playing wackamole with sanctions.
I dunno about that. The actual owners are the ones making the decisions and they are not going to want to pay for lawyers. Now some of cons that are sponsored by Funimation might not be so willing and you may have to force a subpoena down thier throat.

Nick said they are also working on a big DoJ case which is also pressed for time.

That's seriously no excuse. They should have known about all that shit in advance. They literally hired extra lawyers just to deal with the appeal. And then we get this bullshit.

So what is it? Was Ty being genuine with his self-hagiography about how he told Vic's mom he wasn't going to let them destroy her son? Or was that just some shit to generate money?

I honestly expect full performance out of a lawyer who says shit like that, collects money on shit like that, and then their first filing in the appeal is to ask for an extension.

I will never be impressed by that move. Yes, it's a lot better than actually filing some piece of shit. It's still a lot less than I expected, based on the representations of the lawyer in question.

Hard agree on this one. If my lawyer was fucking up my case and his excuse was "sorry bro I got more important shit to do" I'd be pretty pissed.

We obviously don't know what's going on behind the scenes, and again I'm not tripping over this extension like some people, but my 'benefit of the doubt' meter is dry.

That brief better make those judges pregnant at this point.

Can ya wait for the filing before you slit the guys throat?

Are you saying asking for an extension is fucking up a case?

I feel like if the shoe was on the other foot a lot of people would be singing a different tune.

1. we would be worried about Shane eating it.

2. they did ask for an extension at the start of this whole thing, an no one had an issue with it.

having worked with lawyers, get used to extensions. This won’t be the last one from either side.
